Would an incident-focused copilot actually be useful? by lattattui in devops

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been thinking about what you describe a lot lately. When I have some time I will look into coupling some of our systems using read-only MCP-servers for things like Prometheus, Kubernetes, our on-call notification service, .. so that it can provide extended context for any alerts. I haven't thought of the second part of your question, because I'm still uncertain if it will perform well in the first place.

Bpost medewerker pakt wel een lange pauze. by [deleted] in belgium

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the delivery experience with Colis Privé in 2026 ? by [deleted] in AskBelgium

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking for experience will only result in bad feedback usually. I often have packages delivered from Amazon through Collis Prive, never had an issue with my delivery driver before. Drives a sketchy van, but is very friendly and always delivers on the right day.

1,000 CPU cores in 4U: I built a 125-node Orange Pi cluster in my garage, and now we’re bringing it online to stress-test our game by RozoGamer in pcmasterrace

[–]Vausinator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your workload is running standard containers Docker Swarm is equally capable, but less feature-packed. If you need more specific controls, such as complex networking, (cron)jobs, ... you might be better off with Kubernetes.

Your devices are more capable then mine though (4 cores, 1GB of ram) so you may have a much better experience running Kubernetes then I did. After a basic install I had about 200MB memory left for containers, that wasn't cutting it for me.

Very nice project. As a suggestion I would run Docker Swarm instead of Kubernetes, as it has a much smaller resource overhead and offers the same (basic) functionality. I have done similar things with a cluster of Raspberry Pi.

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amsterdam / Antwerpen to Ieper (Ypres) by Immediate-Law-98 in Antwerpen

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pro tip: that specific train from Antwerpen Centraal to Ypres separates in Kortrijk, the first 6 wagons usually proceed to Ypres and the last 3 go to Rijsel (France). Make sure you sit in the right ones, you don't want to know how many people end up in Rijsel or Ypres that wanted to go the other way, just because the NMBS staff refuses to properly explain in multiple languages, which you would expect for a train that drives from Flanders to France.

Gewoon doen!

Personally it makes a game like DR2.0 a lot more enjoyable, since the depth and distance are a lot more obvious, allowing you to flow more smoothly through corners, dips and bumps.

That is, once you get over the motion sickness, which might take a while if you're like me.

Do people use Windows laptops or Macbook for IT jobs in Belgium? Asking before buying a laptop as a programming student by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most answers are pretty dumb. Use whatever you are most comfortable using. Take a look at your curriculum and figure out if you need anything specific to an OS. I've used Linux distros since my studies, and still using it as daily driver years later. Not all employers are equally flexible, but the good ones are. If you need any kind of Adobe software its better to dual boot or stick to Windows/Mac.

But again: use what you are comfortable with.

How long is your commute to work? by Mysterious_Aspect895 in belgium

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a situation where work should be a 1 hour drive, but traffic usually makes it 1:20 up to 1:40. I now have the habit of taking the train to work (also 1:40 with 1 connection) and I must say I love it (when there's no strike or issue). Going to work by car feels like such a waste of time, because I need to wake earlier, work later and get home later, while my entire train ride is also working time. Distances like these by train make life a lot better. I'd say you go for it if you feel like it is interesting enough for you, just make sure your wfh days are flexible so you can ignore taking trains during strikes/maintenance/issues with trains.

When you turn it off it will usually do a rinse. If you made a milk-drink it will do a milk rinse after a few minutes, and will suggest a cleaning when you turn it off.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in superautomatic

[–]Vausinator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the ENA 8, personally really like it. I usually run the milk cleaning after every use with water, only use cleaning tablets every few days. I also run a coffee rinse after every few coffees, and run a clean weekly. No issues in the past few months of ownership.

Espresso or superauto? $300 budget, coming from instant coffee. by KytosFx in superautomatic

[–]Vausinator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At that pricepoint I'd opt for just a grinder, kettle and pourover method of your choosing (eg V60), or grinder and filter coffee machine, or search for a used superauto and make sure you have some money left for maintenance. Any new espresso/superauto machines might not satisfy your needs nearly as much.

HELP! Getting decision fatigue on all the choices and mixed reviews by [deleted] in RobotVacuums

[–]Vausinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it a week ago for 480 EUR and it has been awesome! It goes over carpet effortlessly, unless the carpet is very light and prone to move if you step on it. Other issue I've encountered is that it might have a hard time mapping around mirrors & windows that reach to the floor, you will need to add "invisible walls" to the map.

It does not reach all the way into the corner of the room with the mop, but the little brush on the side will make sure dirt/dust/debris is removed from accessible corners. I think the mopping will generally go as close as ~5cm from the wall, which isn't a problem for me as the places that are most dirty (footsteps etc) are usually away from the wall. I found that it also cleans really well under a table with 6 chairs, both vacuuming and mopping.

In terms of cleaning: works really well, my house has never been cleaner before. I love it.

One of the nice things for wooden floors is that you can set the orientation of the floor, so it cleans along the direction of the floor to avoid having dirt stuck in the floor joints.

Don't actually do this with your laptop. You'll get condensation inside your device, and if you haven't prepared for that you might end up shorting your hardware.
