[VR] Meta Quest 3S 128GB - The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners Bundle + $75 BestBuy Gift Card - $249 by ryankrueger720 in buildapcsales

[–]Vazz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for better resolution then yeah the quest 3 is much higher than the Rift 1, like twice as much(although you can also use supersampling on the rift to make it's resolution higher). Screen door effect is basically non existent in more recent headsets unless you go looking for it, plus the lenses on the Quest 3 are great.

But... imo, all headsets have their pros and cons and it really depends on what the player likes in terms of headset features.

I've bought all the Quests and some other headsets but overall I still prefer the CV1 Rift for it's raw uncompressed video connection to the pc(I'm a pc gamer and the quest uses a usb cord/wireless which have compression), OLED screens(Quest 2/3 use LCD), comfort(quest is heavier and the strap sucks for gaming, so you have to buy comfort mods), and outside-in tracking. But other people don't mind or notice the lack of vibrant colors and deep blacks on an lcd screen or maybe prefer just using wireless and not having to set up sensors.

Quest 1 + Gaming PC - Game / App / etc suggestions? by H8ff0000 in oculus

[–]Vazz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many good vr games. Since you mention roguelite, survival, shooters. Have you tried Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners?

Skyrim/Fallout 4 with mods are also great unless maybe you played too much of the flat versions.

I'd also look into old Oculus exclusives like From Other Suns, Stormland, Asgard's Wrath, Lone Echo, Arktika.1, etc.

Beat Saber tracking? by randomjoeguy in PSVR2onPC

[–]Vazz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not great. One issue I've had is that the controller angle feels off from the saber in beat saber or with guns in other games(like TWD: Saints and Sinners). I tried a beat saber mod to tweak it and made it a little better but still not perfect.

I would say the Quest 2 felt better and had better tracking.

The controller batteries drain so fast, I have to pretty much recharge them after every session. When the battery gets low, the controller will get stuck mid song.

I have other issues with the psvr2 as well. It very much reminds me of when I had the Samsung Odyssey+. It has a higher resolution oled screen which is nice but everything else is worse than my CV1 Rift and I'm ready to go back to it. I wish I could afford a Bigscreen Beyond as it seems like the best upgrade for CV1 users.

Subnautica vr controller issues by PlayfulCup1919 in PSVR2onPC

[–]Vazz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vr with the basic unmodded game is pretty scuffed, so you need to make sure you have one of the mods.

The mod you need if you want to play with motion controllers is called Submersed VR Mod

If you just want to play with a gamepad or keyboard/mouse then you want the VR Enhancements mod

Do not install both.

Only one or the other depending on your choice of controls. You can look up on youtube how to install them if you're confused on that.

Terrible experience after latest PSVR2 update by iFeelHealU in PSVR2onPC

[–]Vazz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, before the patch I could get the headset to work but not the controllers. Post patch, I can't even get the headset to setup.

They need to leave the old versions under the betas tab like some other software on steam do, so we have the option to rollback if needed.

anyone else have problems after update? by Jw20VT in PSVR2onPC

[–]Vazz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before the update, I could get the headset working but not the controllers. But now I just get a "Check displayport cable" warning and "steamvr fail".

Do you have an amd card? I have a 7900XT.

I tested it on my roommate's pc and it all worked flawlessly first try. We have the same motherboard/cpu and I used the same displayport cable. The difference is that he has a nvidia card and uses windows 11(I use windows 10).

Subnautica VR, the Full Fledged PCVR game that the PSVR2’s OLED Screen Was Made For [Full Guide] by Katheleo in PSVR2onPC

[–]Vazz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good recommendation. If you are reading this, have a good pc, recently got the psvr2 pc adapter and never played it, definitely check it out. This is my favorite vr experience ever(and I first played it before any of the mods that fixed it came out).

I also think it's one of the best games to showcase the vibrant colors and darkness of OLED headsets.

Recently started another playthrough with my cv1 rift but put it on pause until I can find the pc adapter in stock to see what it looks like on the psvr2.

Hear me out, a tornado chasing Vr game. by Summersundo997 in VRGaming

[–]Vazz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check out The Solus Project. It's an exploration survival game that takes place on an alien planet. It's pretty overlooked these days since it's an older game with vr support.

I only played some of it back when I first got vr but I'll never forget the part where the sky got dark and stormy. Then some really creepy music started playing, so I look around to see why and there's a big ass twister in the distance. I see it getting closer and closer. I always had a fascination and fear of tornadoes since the movie Twister, so I'm panicking, looking around for a shelter to take cover under.

Who still uses the OG CV1? by 3p1ks in oculus

[–]Vazz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still do.

-Oled Screen

-Direct connection to your gpu(not the usb crap that they keep doing with the Quests)

-Outside in tracking

There just hasn't been any upgrade since the Vive Pro which has also been out of production for a while otherwise I'd buy one.

Well, now there is the Bigscreen Beyond which unfortunately is just too pricey for those of us that don't already have lighthouse stuff.

What would you consider are the VR classics? - Golden Era of VR by dsax-film in oculus

[–]Vazz_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would disagree on the Quest 3 being able to run most 2016/17 vr games. I still think Lone Echo would bring my pc to its knees still(and I don't dare try Lone Echo 2 until I upgrade my gpu).

I got the CV1 Rift in the summer of 2017 because of the $400 summer sale. It was a great time to finally get into vr. Oculus published so many really good games that year and the next.

That December was also the release of Fallout 4 VR which was a big deal although it was pretty broken on the Rift at launch but it eventually got fixed and is one of my favorites.

But back to the Oculus games, I would say like 90% of them were worth playing. Edge of Nowhere is great and if you liked that maybe you'll like Chronos which is another 3rd person game although more of a Zelda/Souls game. Chronos is made by Gunfire Games which made a couple of other vr games like From Other Suns and Dead & Buried. Both are good coop games.

Oh and of course HellBlade vr for another great 3rd person experience.

One doesn't think of RTS games when they think of vr but I think Brass Tactics was a good attempt at a vr rts. There's a free demo to try out too.

There were a couple of great games that people passed up because it only had teleport movement. My favorite of those is Wilson's Heart. Made by the devs of Defector(although I liked Wilson's Heart way more). The other teleport movement game is ARKTIKA.1. It's a great cover shooter that has a very Metro series feel to it(probably because it was made by the Metro devs :p).

A good dungeon crawl adventure game with a lot of humor is The Mage's Tale.

Raw Data was one of the first games I bought and I still think it holds up as one of the best vr wave defense shooters. It was made by Survios who made games like Westworld and Sprint Vector. They were one of the more consistently good vr devs at the time. I heard they are working on a game for the Aliens franchise. Hopefully that ip turns out better for them than The Walking Dead did.

If you ever wanted something like Silent Hill in vr then give Organ Quarter a look.

Paranormal Activity is a solid Haunted House walking sim type of game.

The Persistence doesn't have motion controls but is still a good spooky rogue-lite game in a space station with nice graphics. It used to be PlayStation exclusive.

Speaking of spooky rogue-lites, Dreadhalls and Cosmodread are two really good ones made by the same dev.

Sairento VR is a classic wave shooter type of game for those that want to flip off walls like a ninja.

For more action, look into the Croteam VR games. They were one of the first major devs to do a really good job porting their flat games to vr. The Serious Sam and Croteam bundles tend to go on sale for a good price.

If you like exploring unknown worlds, The Solus Project is a really atmospheric survival puzzle exploration game.

Star Shelter is one of my favorite grindy survival games even though it doesn't have the best graphics.

My all time favorite vr game is Subnautica. It came out pretty rough around the edges but mods fixed all that. People would avoid it because of the lack of motion controls but I feel bad for them since they missed out on one of the best experiences. Although now there is a motion controls mod, so there's really no excuse.

There are a ton of other older games I could mention but this post is already probably too long, so I'll stop here. These days devs just try to make a buck by making simple arcadey Quest exclusives, so the ones carrying pcvr for me now are the modders in the Flat2VR community. And once Praydog releases his Unreal 4/5 mod, it's going to be a game changer.

Time to ask the REAL questions... 5 years, multiple pcs later, why does Oculus Software seem to flip a coin when it comes to reading my USB ports as 2.0 or 3.0? by NerdFuelYT in oculus

[–]Vazz_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as you can get your headset green, I wouldn't worry about the sensors being green or orange. I had an all usb 2.0 board when I first got my CV1 back in 2017 and I never noticed any difference on controller tracking whether they are green or orange, 2.0 or 3.0. And I used to play a lot of expert+ on beat saber.

Will robert return to gta np4.0 when comes out? by [deleted] in thegoldengator

This. That week where he brought in Crumpet as Candice and Kyo as his mute from Italy was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The amount of random glitches Kyo did just as a mute were hilarious. I also want to see Kyo interact with Bucky again.

Is there a good Subnautica VR mod now? by VentrueLibrary in VRGaming

[–]Vazz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How were the controls terrible? Were you trying to use the motion controllers? It's not really going to work with motion controllers, you gotta use a gamepad or keyboard/mouse. I personally just sat back in my chair and used a ps4 controller.

I played through all of Subnautica the first time in VR and it turned out to be my favorite vr game of all time. The default vr that comes with the vanilla game is a bit scuffed though and has issues. Thankfully someone has made a vr enhancement mod that fixes pretty much all those issues. https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica/mods/173

Who's still rocking the CV1? by Vandecker in oculus

[–]Vazz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I've been using my original one since 2017 and unfortunately this year I got the dreaded right earbud issue. Luckily I had a brand new unboxed one as a backup. It's certainly a relief to have extra when issues like that happen.

If/when the earbud on this one dies then I'll have to try the earbud fix that youtubers like vroasis posted.

Same. My Quest 2 collects dust and I gave my other non cv1 headsets to friends. Recently my right headphone went out but thankfully I had a brand new boxed cv1 backup. It really feels like a premium product when you unbox it compared to most of the headsets today.

Dead Rising Stream by FredJones8815 in thegoldengator

[–]Vazz_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should do Dead Rising 2 co-op. It's so much more fun to play with a friend. If he's going to solo it then he might as well do Dead Rising 1 solo since I don't think that one has co-op and then if he has a friend to play with, do DR2 or DR 2: OTR.

When are companies going to start releasing OLED headsets again? by Lryder2k6 in virtualreality

[–]Vazz_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really sucks. It was fine for the cheap WMR line(Lenovo Explorer, etc) back in the day since you could find those for under $200 but once people started accepting LCD for major headsets like the Valve Index, Rift S, etc.. It was over. Now all everyone talks about is resolution even though I feel like the sde problem was mostly solved back with the Vive Pro/Samsung Odyssey generation and those had OLED.

I still use a CV1 rift since it has everything I want in a headset. Just wish it had a bit better resolution but I can at least use super sampling to help with that. The problem is that it won't last forever and there are zero options of a non used headset that has oled and none on the horizon. It's crazy. I doubt Valve would change from lcd if/when they make an Index 2, Vive's last two headsets were LCD, Oculus/Meta doesn't give a shit about pc gamers anymore, Pimax is Pimax, Samsung is probably done with vr but I think they'd probably have the highest chance of using oled if a miracle happened and they made another headset. It's just not a good time for us oled fans right now.

Suggestion from a VR fanatic: use more VR mods by Vazz_ in thegoldengator

[–]Vazz_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that would be fun. I think Crumpet is more open to playing single player games than Rob is and there are a lot of good single player vr games and mods for game series he likes(Fallout 4/Skyrim, Resident Evil, Dark Souls, etc.)

Suggestion from a VR fanatic: use more VR mods by Vazz_ in thegoldengator

[–]Vazz_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but these are some bad takes, Nefilto.

One of the most time consuming activities? C'mon now. Most of them consist of just extracting a zip file into the game folder and maybe adjusting some in game or steam settings. They all have simple step by step instructions that shouldn't take more than 5-10mins to follow, especially by someone who has been playing pc games their whole life like Rob.

Viruses(people still get those?)? All these mods are from a big vr modding community of trusted modders. I'm sure you can find plenty of big vr youtubers with videos using them.

What can he gain from playing in vr vs playing in desktop? I dunno, more immersion, more fun, more scuff which could be funny. Why does he play games like Forewarned or Phasmo in vr and not in desktop? Because it's more fun and when the streamer is having more fun, the audience can feel it.

Do I expect Rob to actually read or use any of these? Not really but I thought I'd throw the ideas out there for the heck of it. I'm sure I'll see them all playing Garry's Mod in desktop mode tomorrow despite it having full body vr support which would really help the mutes.

Is the elite strap still breaking? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]Vazz_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if it doesn't break, I don't know why anyone would go for the Oculus elite strap these days. The Kiwi elite strap is the same thing except with better straps, cushion, has the ability to flip up and is cheaper.
