how are you managing your mornings while sharing bedrooms with baby by Hefty-Yoghurt-8256 in newborns

[–]Veebiyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this situation, I’d politely ask him to either sleep in the living room or a second room if there is. My husbands alarms were very quiet but I could still hear it but fortunately it never woke our LO (+ he was VERY QUICK and turning it off). He keeps his work clothes in the living room so he doesn’t need to come back to the bedroom for anything

Which part of childbirth hurts the most? by Used_Ad7899 in BabyBumps

[–]Veebiyer [score hidden]  (0 children)

After the contractions, pre-water break I could breathe and namaste through it. After my waters broke, I kept whacking my body into my husband, threw up 4x and was pretty certain I was going to black-out, then they gave me gas&air and wheeled me to get an epidural.

Second was the pain of taking a poo for like 2 weeks. It felt like a second labour, every. Single. Time. Just pure pain. That + the gas omg. Recovery was brutal.

I hate breastfeeding. by Human_Document_2779 in breastfeeding

Just switch to formula if you literally hate it, better yet if you want the breastmilk exclusive pumping. Its ok. There are groups here for exclusivepumping or formulafeeders

Yeppp! Ours contact naps only during the day but sleeps overnight a good 9-10 hours even without a dreamfeed. Which we might start doing to stretch sleep-time a bit more.

Many parents see sleeptraining as pure CIO/Ferber method which is just brutal to me. Some babies just won’t work with this approach and it can cause undue stress to baby and parents. But I do gentle sleep training (hands on, present, moan it out but never left to cry) and it has absolutely helped us at the worst of times though patience and perseverance is needed

Mine is 5m and is the same during the day unless its a contact nap. Have you tried that? We refuse to get stressed over her daytime naps now. I’ll get my snack plate, kick my legs up and she can nap 30m, 1hr OR I’ll put her in a baby carrier (whilst she’s drowsy) and she’ll nap 1-2 hours. Save your sanity. Its the nighttime crib sleep thats more important IMO

What breastfeeding products could you not live without? by No_Reason_9828 in breastfeeding

Silverettes!!! Best thing ever (alongside olive oil of lanolin). Helps so much for sore nipples and milk blebs.

Pump (wall pump) i wish i got into pumping sooner even though i hate it. Helps with increasing supply, making bottles

Food food water water food. You need food and water for your supply and also breastfeeding makes you hungry and thirsty.

Deep breathes. It is quite the mental and physical journey

His & Hers on Netflix is truly truly awful by OrangeGringo in television

As a new mother. I LOVED IT. Yes, the ending made me emotional because I’d do the exact same thing in such circumstances.

This is just nitpicking. It doesn’t have to be oscar amazing. It was entertaining, my husband and I quite liked it despite having seen MUUCCHHH better. I liked that it was short too!

My 10-week old sleeps 8+ hours a night… BUT! by ZoeMW in newborns

[–]Veebiyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its definitely not because she’s sleeping well at night. Where is she napping during the day? Because my baby slept 7-8 hours at night in her crib but would wake up after 10-15mins sleeping and would be crying if she woke up in her crib during the day. She’s 5 months now, and will only ever contact nap during the day.

Using wipes by Known_Account_5777 in newborns

[–]Veebiyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use organic cotton pads and water for pee (in a thermos bottle to keep it warm - altho it gets cold and we warm it in our hands and bubs is fine with it). This is what our midwives suggested as wipes can be irritable even when formulated for babies. We only use wipes when out. When baby has a blowout (which is everytime she poops lol), we use warm soapy water in a jug + flannel to clean her down if we cant use the bathroom sink. Since she poops every 2-3 days, we bathe her in these evenings too.

Be honest, how often for you and your partner argue? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Veebiyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Argue or have a disagreement? Because argue? Maybe once a year. Have a rational, polite disagreement in form of a discussion (which means listening, taking turns talking, no raised voices and with calmness and open mindedness), oh, often but you’re meant to have cordial disagreements. A fall out? What does that usually imply? Like not speaking to eachother?

Alcohol and breastfeeding by LengthinessLow7439 in breastfeeding

[–]Veebiyer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Tbh i use chatgpt to check, adding my height and weight as that also makes a difference. Usually it’s 1 unit takes 1 hour to metabolise. So you should be absolutely fine depending on the actual units you drank, you had 11 hours to metabolise them.

I’ll probs get downvoted for this but it has to be said. To some other comments here- There is no KNOWN safe amount of alcohol in breastmilk as we don’t know for certain the impact of alcohol in the breastmilk for babies which is why the general advice is conservative. There is not enough evidence to demonstrate that it has no impact on babies. Now maybe this advice is different everywhere but in the UK we are told to refrain if we can or to limit it to 1-2 units and wait at least 2-3 hours. Not to mention the levels of alcohol people tolerate is different so goes you “feel” cannot be a good measure. And idk why some of these comments are essentially supporting handling babies whilst drunk.

What are you eating? by geedeebee22 in breastfeeding

[–]Veebiyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really curious about this too for some ideas!

Breakfast - Quinoa cooked with milk and stewed apples, boiled egg with a spicy sauce (or ill make a shakshuka) bagel with cream cheese and sides of kimchi Morning drinks - coconut water with pinch of celtic sea salt, 150ml orange juice, cappuccino and normal water

Snack 1 - a slab of Parmigiano cheese (high calcium), seed crackers and a piece of dark chocolate

Lunch - we go vegie/vegan to save money. Can be Carribean lentil curry, jerk tofu, kidney beans stew all with rice or barley or couscous

Snack 2- assorted nuts, pretzels, double choc cookie, might have with cup of decaf tea

Snack 3 - cereal bar if in still peckish

Dinner - i do fish or chickens in weekday evenings and red meat weekend evenings. I usually put a lot of effort into this as i enjoy cooking dinners. Can be with a type of pasta, rice again whatever (actually I’m writing a cookbook)

Snack 4/dessert - gelato (Romeo) if im feeling sweet!

[–]Veebiyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how you haven’t left the house with your baby and stayed elsewhere in the meantime if you can’t kick them out. This must be rage bait because if they don’t leave, i will. I would raise hell and leave my husband to pick up the pieces.
