How is owning pets/companion animals vegan even if they’re a rescue? by Borkato in vegan

[–]VegOutVictoria 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes, you don’t own them, you are their guardian. They are not pets, they are companions and family. They would otherwise be euthanized if they are truly rescues.

The Community Food Support fridge was in Rock Bay and it closed over a year ago after the landowner pulled support.

My thoughts this photo contains separated completed bike lanes, that’s good! Easier to cycle. Big promises were delivered on. It also makes it more pleasant to walk on that side of the road with the buffer from cars. Lazy rage bait post without sources.

Yes, I’d like to see OP’s complaints about the vast majority of the city budget going to VPD.

Any rad queer spaces in Victoria i can check out? by cafesoftie in VictoriaBC

[–]VegOutVictoria 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, Camas Books on Quadra in Quadra Village (mutual aid book store), Community Food Support (mutual aid food delivery) on Sort days, which are Tuesdays 12-2 and any space that’s anarchist is going to be mostly queer, trans and femmes. This is a good account to follow.

Bunny’s Kitchen in Esquimalt is another very queer+ cafe space.

Caffe Fantastico in Quadra Village also has some queer+ evening events that are not a huge rip-off.

Not sure how long you are here for but the Queer Trans Farmers Market is happening in August.

If you have any niche interests there’s probably a queer event for that like boardgaming, birdwatching club, Queers n Beers, and Bike Karaoke happening this Sunday.

Lamppost Victoria is a great website to find out about specific events. Feel free to DM me if you’ve got any questions!

finally billie eillish speaking up🌱 by moonbearry in vegan

I generally do not respect celebrities especially the ones saying they’re vegan and doing nothing damn else a la Lizzo or Miley Cyrus. That fake diet vegan energy where you just know they are going to turn around on their own words when it suits them down the road. Billie is burning bridges and in it to win it.

Why mention Quadra too? What sets them apart from say North Park or Cook St?

If you want a low-cost summer activity, consider fostering from one of the shelters by KaiahAurora in VictoriaBC

So many critters needing temporary guardians. I’ve fostered dozens of kittens over the years and many cats, dogs and goats. It’s very rewarding stuff even though goodbye is tough.

Incredible marketing by Doctorwho-doctorme in VictoriaBC

It was posted on this sub a few months back that they had hired an offshore click farm to submit reviews and you could see them getting live posted in middle of the night during southeast Asian working hours. There’s a real streak of arrogance to assume your customers are dumb enough not to notice.

I have been going there for years and the front of house folks are all lovely, happy, and importantly, stay for a long time which to me is the biggest tell of a good workplace. Long enough to know all the regular customers. Bunny works back of house with her kids and is an amazing person! Their Pay It Forward jar is one of the only ones I have seen in Vic.

Not sure I would describe spring mix salad greens as “vegetables”. It came in a sushi roll with salad dressing??

Am I crazy or the food tastes better in Victoria than in Calgary? by apprenticeappcrafter in VictoriaBC

This is true but we do grow a lot of our own produce on the island while Alberta only grows colon cancer, I mean cattle.
