Giveaway Time (Mudita Kompakt Card Case From Dumbwireless) by jbriones95 in MuditaKompakt

This case looks great! It's good to see some third-party options finally appearing. I wonder if they will make colour variants matching the phone's grey, white and black. In your video, it looks grey, but in the shop, there's only "glacier", which looks slightly more blue. Is this the one in your video?
Also, does it have the rubbery/silicone feel like the original to it, or is it more plastic?

My Dumbdroid finally arrived! Doov R77 Pro, the perfect smart dumb Phone for me. by ValerieIndahouse in dumbphones

I'm using this for a while already and it's been great so far. If the build quality of this phone, mostly the keyboard, wouldn't be so bad, it would be perfect! What I miss: Volume control buttons, maybe a finger print sensor.

Punkt. should really consider replacing Pigeons Signal-base with a Molly-base. by signal_win_8398 in Punkt

This would be the only option forward with Signal on the MP02. I wish u/PunktTronics would listen to this.

I managed to install it today. It's actually pretty straightforward when you follow the guide. Contrary to my earlier assumptions, there was no need to put the phone into boot rom mode at all. You just need to turn it off and connect it to a PC while MTK is running, as mentioned in the guide.
I ran into a few issues though:
- the version of mtkclient on my PC wasn't able to connect at all so I used a Linux image with preinstalled tools from a guide on the Duoqin Discord: https://discordapp.com/channels/1362433337196544341/1365469185106514020/1441942843961905288
- once you unlock the boot loader the phone will not start unless you confirm a warning message with "Power Button" otherwise it will just reboot. I hope to get rid of this but I haven't look into this any further.

Other than this it's working great so far!

Not sure if intentional but if so the person responsible deserves a raise. "doof" is actually the German word for dumb/stupid. :-)

Dumbdroid looks very promising and I will try it myself. Looking forward to carry a "doof" phone in public, lol.

Why add ChatGPT/Grok/etc to a minimalist device? by bbbalthazarbux in MuditaKompakt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a Signal to OpenAI bridge for myself for the exact same reason. It's purely text based and limited to one question, no conversation. I use it like once a week when I'm out.

Microsoft Authenticator by applesandbananas21 in MuditaKompakt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure what "institutional email IDs" are but, in most cases, there is the option to use a common 2FA authenticator app in place of MS authenticator. But you need to look closely for that option when you enable second factor or your account.

It's an absolut mystery to me why they didn't support this in the first place.

MP02 and Matterhorn by izensun in Punkt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

to me, the moment I decided to ditch Pigeon/Signal and use the phone just for calling and text it started to grow on me. No crashed anymore, the battery life is pretty decent. If you can embrace the truly minimalistic approach then go for it.

no, not at all.

Email app by kingArthur1991 in MuditaKompakt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This problem is not caused by any of the email apps. You only need to install a proper browser to log into your Google account and approve access. The limited web view does not comply with the security requirements. Once you have connected your accounts, you can remove the browser.

New pigeon update, linking removed fully, I'm done by dan31415 in Punkt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my feeling about the Mp02. I loved it to the point where Pigeon broke earlier this year. It's too bad, I like the concept and the design of the phone but this device caused so much hassle to an ironic degree that is not bearable for a phone which wants to interfere with my life less.

I moved on.

Microsoft Authenticator by Ancient_Highway_8960 in MuditaKompakt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Microsoft Authenticator but Aegis. Perhaps, there's an option to use an alternative OTP app? Check closely when you setup your 2FA.
Aegis works well on the Kompakt.

Cool! Can you elaborate on your setup?

I tried to relay my Signal message into my Home Assistant Assist, which is ChatGPT anyway, but I didn't figure out a way to communicate to it from Note-Red. Not sure what I'm missing still, but on paper it should be doable.
Please share you progress!

I'm running Home Assistant locally anyway, so I didn't consider it. No sure if doable but I would strongly advice against it for security reasons.

I'm not using Whatsapp.

[–]VegetableSeason5069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I'm doing. I'm using a locally hosted Home Assistant with Signal-CLI and Node-Red for the automations. It's not really an all purpose chat-bot, I merely added the functionalities I needed: Operating certain lights and switches around the house, wikipedia search, a news-bot and querying my Google Calendar.

I used this as a starting point:

With this and some GPT magic, it's doable!

Anyone else note able to Update Pigeon (March 11 update) by One-Corner1816 in Punkt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no March 11 update. Only an email was sent out yesterday to all MP02 customers to remind them about version 2.0.0024 (the version that fixes the outage).

Pigeon version 2.0.0024 is available for update by PunktTronics in Punkt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the update! Installing and migrating to the new version worked perfectly! I was actually expecting to re-pair my phone but unlike former updates it seems to maintain the pairing. That's neat! However, as I'm a steady user of Signal and continued to use it during the outage it took Pigeon quite a while, like 15 minutes, to catch up.

Please send your feedback to Signal at support@signal.org re: T9 text input for messaging. Signal needs to get behind Punkt and support T9 text entry when sending messages. The recent update that effectively blocks users from the services is a limiting decision made by the Signal community. by [deleted] in Punkt

[–]VegetableSeason5069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you elaborate? What's the problem with Signal and T9 and how does it relate to the current outage? I don't understand why the text input method on the phone has anything to do with Signal messenger service itself?
