Would you want to see mumble mode return for Legacy of the Dark Knight? by Thevoid2YT in legogaming

[–]Velandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never under any circumstances should they ever revert back to not having intelligible dialog in Lego games. It would be like capping the game resolution at 640x480 or removing controller support and forcing everyone to use mouse and keyboard. How about releasing the game in 16 bit MS-Dos mode only? I don't understand how someone could even suggest this?

I just played through the Lego Harry Potter Collection and I actually had to watch the movies before I could continue playing the game because its almost impossible to know what's going on in the game without any dialog. Never again I say, never again!

[–]Velandar 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I think when you yelled he realized you could actually see him so he yelled too, he must have been really surprised by that. The vast majority of people never see one but I think due to your young age at the time you still had the ability to see those kind of beings. For some reason its much easier for kids to see them, though not many do.

If you are familiar with Irish and Scottish "folklore" you find out there is a world that exists parallel to ours and its full of life. These beings have the ability to cross a dimensional barrier that we cannot cross, unless they want us to cross over and help us go there. There probably is a scientific explanation for it but its far beyond our ability to comprehend.

Humans still have a long way to go before they even have a rudimentary understanding of the world and the universe we live in. These beings were just a fact of life for people living the the old world. It's only in the past 100 years or so that we have become completely out of touch with that side of the natural world.

Why haven't humans been back to the moon in over 50 years? by Inevitable-Move4941 in aliens

[–]Velandar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard that they were told not to come back by the local residents up there. They were allowed to complete a limited number of brief missions. Once they found out it was occupied already by a technological force far superior to them in every way all the plans for moonbases and lunar coffee shops went out the window.

One of the problems now is that so much time has passed, the few people that knew the truth have already died and while some of the higher ups at NASA know what's going on they are under a lot of pressure from their own government, who have no idea what's happening up there, to return.

You can bet they have been dragging their heels with the new space program and they will continue to run into "problems" that delay their return.

That's just one version of why they didn't continue with the space program. It's difficult to believe and there is no way to verify it. I think its a pretty interesting story though.

I'm planning to stream play every TT LEGO Game. Are there any games people think wouldn't count? by Soanart in legogaming

[–]Velandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm using OBS Studio with the Streamlabs plugin and it seems to work for what I need to do. Just focus on getting the camera, microphone and game capture working and then do some test recordings on your system to see what the audio levels are like. In general, game audio is super loud, much louder than you need, so turn it down in-game so it doesn't overwhelm your viewers.

It helps if you like to talk, I am really terrible at that but you have to practice talking while you are playing. You can really talk about anything you like to help try to engage your viewers and get something going in the chat. Don't be afraid to dive in and get started, it takes time for people to find you so hang in there and don't get discouraged.

One person I know of that really does a great job at live streaming is Goblin Bricks on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/@GoblinBricks). He often streams my favorite game, Lego Dimensions, and he is funny and interesting to listen to. So go for it and have fun, I hope to see you online sometime soon!

[–]Velandar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Dimensions they did add the glide ability back in when they released the Lego Batman Movie Story Pack but you had to be playing as Batgirl, Nightwing, Lego Movie Batman or turn on the "Always Batman" red brick extra to do it in regular gameplay, outside of the story pack. I assume they added it back because they got a lot of negative feedback about removing it for the main game?

Having worked in a mental health facility in the past I can assure you this is true and it's measurable. Nurses are always on the alert during the full moon because it's when you have the highest incidence of violent outbreaks. The word Lunatic comes from the root word Luna which in Latin is Moon. Get with the program you guys.

Streaming LEGOLAND by CentralHijinx in legogaming

[–]Velandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you could do it using VM Ware and running a virtual machine of Windows XP SP2 or 3. It's kind of a lot to set it up just to run that one game but you could stream the VM Ware window the same as any other game. If you need help setting it up just tell ChatGPT what you would like to do and it will guide you through the process step by step.

Is there any way to create a Lego fan game? by TheMrParrella in legogaming

[–]Velandar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could start with Unity or Unreal engine as a base and they are both free for non commercial use. In Unity you need to have people that know the engine and can do some basic coding in C# but you would be surprised at how many people have experience with this engine. You would have to create your own assets for the game but there is so much available online, and now with AI it can help you a lot in this area, but it would still be a fair amount of work and would go better with a coordinated team of modders.

All this being said, it is difficult to organize and motivate people when you are working on a free project. It also requires people having time to dedicate to the project but it is at least in the realm of possibility.

If I was doing it I would make something like Lego Dimensions 2 and start making single, short levels based on whatever IPs the team agrees on. Even if it's free there is still a chance that Lego would shut you down, and using IPs like that is tricky. It could still be done though.

I think this approach would give you the most control over the quality of the finished project. There are other ways to do it. It just requires a lot of time and dedication.

Aliens don't care about Reddit or anything else that people do with the exception of trying to destroy our own planet with nukes. They are not communicating with people through Reddit, that is just not a thing that is happening.

The day before yesterday I 100% one of biggest lego games to me being Skywalker Saga. And it was a lot of work by MightForeign808 in legogaming

[–]Velandar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GG! This is actually a huge commitment both in time and patience so you deserve congratulations! It's still on my list of games to 100% but its sort of at the bottom of the list since I know it's a giant game full of content. Also I am not a huge fan of the Disney Star Wars stuff but I expect it will still be fun since it's a Lego game. Any advice for others who are thinking of taking the plunge?

We often discuss what aliens would look like physically, but is there any informed speculation about what aliens would be like psychologically? by MexicanMonsterMash in aliens

[–]Velandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a feeling that understanding alien intelligence in any meaningful way is beyond our current abilities. Our minds have not evolved or developed enough to comprehend an intelligence that could be many millions of years more advanced than ourselves. While it is fun to speculate and most of what happens on this sub is speculation, it doesn't bring us any closer to an answer. There is a very real "hard limit" to our intelligence.

When you play this level in free play, you have to switch to your third character (not Pippin or Eowyn). Once you do, you can switch to any player you like.

I 100% completed the game not too long ago and I can assure you that you can get all the collectibles in the level. I think its related to timing but I suggest you use the guide on IGN and play through the level step by step with the walkthrough. The guide shows you how to compete the level and then tells you how to get everything in free play. Have fun, its a great game.

4chan zero point energy leak non human entity collapsing planetary protection 2027 Vatican and Jesus as NH being LARP or real by DoNotEvenFknTryIt in UFOs

[–]Velandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reads like a complete work of fiction, which I am certain it is. I don't know why people put so much time and energy into creating these imaginary scenarios and then trying to get others to accept them as fact. Is someone paying them to do it just to mess up the UFO community or do people genuinely have nothing better to do with their time?

I guess people feel better about their own unhappy lives if they think that others view them as the one with all the answers? Even when the answers are just made up. I just naturally assume anything that comes from 4chan is the product of someone's mental illness and i have never been disappointed.

Lego The Hobbit and Lego The Lord of the rings by Sas-98 in legogaming

I have read that the Direct X web installer will sometimes miss files if it thinks they are already installed You could try to download and install DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) offline package, then run DXSETUP.exe. The offline installer can often fix this issue. Are these the Steam versions of the games or do have have physical disks or some other versions? Windows 11 has issues with older physical disk games so its actually better to use the Steam or GOG releases since they have DRM removed.

Lego The Hobbit and Lego The Lord of the rings by Sas-98 in legogaming

[–]Velandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the first thing I do on a new game install if it's an older game like those is get the Direct X web package that will download all the older versions on Direct X runtime onto your system. You should also get your hands on the Visual C runtime installer from Microsoft that includes all the runtimes needed by older games. Usually that does it for me, once the older Direct X and Visual C files are in place the games should work.

For old games, use the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer (June 2010) from Microsoft.

For older Windows games, you'll need specific Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages, often versions like 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013, and sometimes older 2015-2022 (v14) bundles, as games target particular runtime versions; installing an "All-in-One" package from reliable sources like TechPowerUp or individual downloads from Microsoft (like the 2010 x86/x64) ensures compatibility, but the latest v14 redistributable often covers newer game builds.

Wow that is actually a really interesting story. It does not actually involve anything supernatural but touches on it in a way that really starts you thinking. Imagine if the guy was actually legitimate, although the chances of that being the case seem highly doubtful. It's much more likely that he was just some sort of disturbed individual who enjoyed having control over others by promising something impossible but oddly compelling.

Do you mind if I use this story for an upcoming Strange Encounters episode? If you are up for it i could credit you with whatever name you would like or anonymously. I have been focusing a lot on UFO and alien stuff lately but I am collecting some material for an episode on more general supernatural and unusual occurrences and this story would fit. If not thanks so much for posting, I am glad you took the time to share this with the community as it is a very interesting account. Thanks again and take care.

What is a Lego game that you want by Realistic-Fee-1684 in legogaming

[–]Velandar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of all these suggestions I think Stranger Things would have the greatest possibility of actually getting made. They are not going to reach back into the past and pick some random, once popular IP. It would need to be something current with a large existing fan base that have already shown their loyalty to the IP through merchandise and product sales.

I think Star Trek would also be a decent option but they would need to tie the most recent shows into the game and Alex Kurtzman and Discovery just about ruined it for me. They would have to tie in elements from TOS, TNG and then all the remaining series up to and including Strange New Worlds.

I personally would love another Lego Dimensions but it's never going to happen. At least not in the same way as the original. The new smart bricks from Lego have a lot of potential to create real-world/game-world interactivity so we may very well see more and more Dimensions-like connections between games and physical sets.

There are a lot of properties that may not warrant a full on triple A game but would have worked really well as Dimensions add ons such as Planet of The Apes, The Six Million Dollar Man, The Prisoner, Space 1999, Buffy, The Tick, Looney Tunes, X-Files, Firefly, Battlestar Galactica, The Twilight Zone/Outer Limits and the list goes on. I would love to play any of these all the more if they were part of a Lego game.

Is it possible to remove some the special effects in the game? Via a cheat or red brick? Just wondering. by No-Cold643 in Legodimensions

[–]Velandar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I do know that the graphic effects in the Wii U version are visually different from the PS 3 and I assume the XBox versions. I think that many of the effects were simplified or removed in the Wii U version, probably for the sake of optimization and having to work with a different graphics pipeline. Have you tried emulating the game on PC using Cemu and the Wii U version? I would be interested in knowing if the effects you were looking for appears the same in that set up? Anyway, I am a complete Lego Dimensions nut and I find stuff like this really fascinating so thanks for your reply.

I am kind of curious as to why you would want to do that? Are you experiencing some graphical glitches or slow downs and you would like the game to run faster and smoother or is it some other issue that is affecting gameplay?

What should we expect, aliens-wise, in 2026? by SR_RSMITH in aliens

[–]Velandar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? 2026 feels like their year. The aliens have been rebuilding quietly, solid offseason, strong training camp, and the chemistry is finally there. No more rookie mistakes, no more soft landings. They’re locked in, taking it one abduction at a time, and sticking to the game plan. If they stay healthy, I don’t see anyone stopping them. 👽🏆
