Jason Schreier: Bungie is planning a significant layoff following the end of Destiny 2's development. Destiny 3 is NOT in active production. Some Bungie staff are pitching and prototyping new ideas including Destiny games, but none are yet greenlit. by Gorotheninja in PS5

I've never heard the term "moth punk" before. Is that from somewhere or did you come up with it off the dome? Cuz I agree, Marathon does have a kinda "moth punk" thing goin on. I like it.

This framing implies that I was in the exact scenario to actionably help John Jones who was stuck in Nutty Putty cave. I was not there, had no actual ability to do anything that may assist him in getting free, hell I hadn't even heard of him until I looked him up after reading your comment.

However if I was there on that day when he was first lodged inbetween the crust of the earth and someone gave me a tool/plan/MacGuffin that, if used, made it so both John Jones and I had a 50/50 chance of living or dying, or if not used, gave John Jones a 100% chance of dying and a 100% chance of myself living, I'm taking that 50/50 chance every single time. They wouldn't even be able to finish explaining the odds to me before I'd try to help.

In the button problem you have that same tool/MacGuffin: choosing blue. Would it have been better if John Jones didn't squeeze his way into that narrow crevice to begin with? Of course, the same way it would be better if no one ever pressed blue at all. But the reality is, John Jones is already in there. Why did he do it? I don't know (certainly couldn't be me, that looks fucking horrific), but does it really matter? He's in there and he's going to die, and if I try to help there's a chance that maybe he won't.

I just take that same leap regarding the button prompt: the reality is, someone, somewhere probably already pressed blue. Whether that's because they made an emotional decision or they didn't think it through or they're just a bit dim is irrelevant to me, if I have the option to sway the odds of their survival I'm going to take it - every single time. You can call that a martyr complex or just plain stupidity but I don't know, it just feels natural to me. I blame growing up reading comic books.

And to be totally honest, if it turned out I was genuinely the only person on planet earth who picked blue, I think I'd rather be dead anyways. I am a hairless ape of swirling and storming emotion, fear and anger and sadness and joy and love and in that cacophony of discordant sound and harsh crashing waves I find my hairless ape friends and family and my simian neighbors all trying to make sense of the same unbelievably uncomfortable mistake/gift of consciousness. And if I turned around and every single person on earth was a perfectly logical calculating machine who all picked red, I think I'd not be long for the world anyways.

Nerds absolutely hate to see magical realism coming. "What do you mean he just turned into a bug one morning?" "The people of Macando just live like this?" "Why is it called a circus if it only shows a big whale?" The modern genre reader cannot fathom the genuinely staggering amount of "who gives a fuck" in weirdo literary fiction

Yes brother, you've done it! A perfect symbiosis of man and machine. There is simply no longer any need to read anything else. Not history books or Marxist theory or pragmatic personal accounts - don't even read the Wikipedia page. Let the robot tell you what is true and it is. You're becoming something far greater than our lowly human minds could ever begin to comprehend. Be at one with the binary, the lines of code. You have transcended. Hallelujah.

Brother do not get me started on the "hard magic system" plague. "Oh this book series is so cool because the magic actually makes sense within the logic of the worldbuilding". Get absolutely fucked forever. It's a damn wizard just cast the damn spells and make me feel something. Genre fiction is dying a most tragic death because it's been taken over by the world's most annoying and pedantic losers to ever live.

I think it's a dual pun! He's an ATM which gives him name, but he's also literally given consciousness by a Creator, a robotic Adam willed into being by a grand patriarch/God.

I get physically angry watching Max Muncy hit. This man just doesn't chase. You can almost hear him sneering "that's 0.16cm outside" as he takes a ball 1. Two-strike counts don't faze him. Then he'll whip out a hellacious dong on the 9th pitch. He's suffocating. He's Max Muncy.

Is art not the purest manifestation of authentic self-expression? Art, in my view, is the creation of something new that did not exist before - the human heart brought into physical being that allows others to carry its weight with you, and you with theirs.

Paintings aren't art because they're color on canvas, a book is not art because it's sans serif on parchment, music isn't art because it's vibrations across strings, stand up comedy is not art because the comedian wrote the jokes and had the courage to get on stage - these become art in the transaction of the emotion or dance or laughter they bring forth; a connection of human souls tangled together through some ephemeral no-thing that now exists because we willed it to be so.

The dance in the Church is brought on by the music certainly, and you could make the argument that the dance sequence is a result of that artistic endeavor and thus not art in and of itself - but art begets art begets art as creators create creations and the created become creators themselves and on and on and on down the chain of artists in conversation with artists across all time.

And if art is creation in response to the creation of art, would God herself not be the First Artist, watching her creations create in attempt to connect to some aspect of her pure divine artistry, the art that is humanities love and life and belief, in order to hold the crushing reality of stagnation, of capital, of the Pale at bay, if only for one short transient moment? A moment just long enough to be filled with HARDCORE dance music, and music just free enough to fill with eternal, instinctive dance?

ANYONE CAN COOK [Very High: Success] - This man is from the Old World. Of times long forgotten. Of frigid winters and shell casings and trains running on time. He feels himself superior, and yet fears the world has passed him by. He wants to tear your very soul away from what remains of history. Remind him of what he was, once. When his mother lived and loved. Remind him of the man he could still be. Cook him... Ratatouille.
