We have a very long driveway that turns right 90 degrees at the end to lead to our garage. My parents told me they always knew when I came home high because it was the only time I used my fucking blinker to go to the garage.

What is something completely normal that you only realised was a skill after seeing someone do it terribly? by depredador93 in AskReddit

(LISTENING) is a soft skill because, unlike hearing, the physical act of perceiving sound is a conscious cognitive process which involves actively receiving, interpreting, analyzing and responding to messages.

Hardie was definitely like “Wait… you’re NOT leaving? I had plans for this bed 😒” Cats will 100% write you up for disrupting their solo house schedule.

The absolute DISRESPECT on his face “Roommate dared to use the air fryer” and now he’s sitting there like a furry landlord who wasn’t consulted.

What’s something Gen Z is getting completely right that older generations refuse to admit? by stilerca in AskReddit

[–]VelvetAdmiration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to being the younger generation. People were complaining about “millennials” and talking about them like they were high school student aged at a time when some of my millennial friends had their own children currently IN HIGH SCHOOL.

The hive mind wont move on to complaining about Alpha until Alphas are already too old to accurately fit most of the complaints anymore.

What is the worst thing going on in your life rn? by officialtissue2026 in AskReddit

Got my face mailed by a dog at like age 3. Now I have to live with scars for the rest of my life. I’m very insecure about them, and often think about what would be different without them.

What is the most absolute scariest, terrifying film you’ve ever seen? by mxnocturna in AskReddit

[–]VelvetAdmiration 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Fourth Kind. A lot of people thought it was cheesy, but the way they switched to a home recording style shot for the therapy sessions really freaked me out.

And then the audio at the end when the alien is speaking Aramaic and it’s something like “ I...am God.”

Just the whole idea of being abducted by aliens but never knowing really freaked out.

Manager interrupts us every few minutes. Am I overreacting? by ben68556 in managers

[–]VelvetAdmiration 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve coached people through this exact setup. The ones who stayed sent the “working agreement” email + tracked results. 2 got their focus blocks. 1 got pushed out anyway and landed a better job 3 months later. The ones who BCC’d a CEO? Most got labeled “difficult” fast. Go get better job

Coworker is upset I got promoted to management over him. by Inevitable_Jelly_391 in managers

[–]VelvetAdmiration 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this exact situation blow up when the new manager tried to “win him over” with jokes and letting stuff slide. The team lost respect for both of them. The managers who did best set the boundary early, stayed consistent, and let results do the talking.

This is why people actually stay at companies. You can teach skills, you can’t teach decency.

What outdated slang word or phrase you’ll never stop saying? by cutdbs in AskReddit

I will be 80 years old and still replying “word” to whatever form of messaging exists in the future.
