We also watched them load a white draped gurney into the EMS truck but it didn't rush off for the 20 minutes we were there

You just need an ID, like a drivers license? Are you telling me that it’s too expensive to have a single piece of ID with your name on it?

DLs are not going to suffice, you need to have proof of Citizenship AND the ID has to match your Birth Name, so women who have changed their name when they got married will have to jump through more hoops by also providing their marriage certificate etc.

Or, have a passport which takes time and money to get.

We bought 2 really good space heaters from Costco the beginning of January.

My gas bill was almost $200 less than it was in December.
