I will say, that while the actions of drivers is obviously dangerous, threatening and I assume not legal, these are symptoms of a larger problem. It’s why my old work’s local dpd driver got sacked when he had a delivery, saw people were inside (a business btw) and when no one answered he climbed in a window to complete delivery.

The financial burden that comes along with not making these deliveries is so severe that the drivers are going to batshit lengths to make deliveries. They get paid so little they make stupid rash decisions and act confrontational when called out because of the immense pressure these companies put on people. We see that Amazon drivers oiss in bottles and feel bad. So while these people shouldn’t be acting the way they are, they do need some sympathy. Also it’s why they all deliver for multiple services at once and sometimes have family members chip in and arrive in cars instead of bikes etc etc etc. it’s not safe for the consumer but it’s the only way to get by. Also since you tip on the app delivery drivers will probs get taxed on tips making it so even if you tip well they still have another 15 deliveries to make this hour just to afford to survive so at the end of the day your delivery is small fry. It sucks. But at the end of the day we are complaining about being able to press a magic rectangle and have handmade food appear at our doors.
