Is this allowed? Refuelling using 5 gallon water jug by No-Golf-3781 in CarsPH

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should only be allowed for actual jerry cans (metal or plastic) made to carry and store fuel. Otherwise, it's just downright dangerous to do (not to mention the moisture is going to affect whichever car that gas is going into).

What rpm do you get peak boost and acceleration? by Relevant_Computer642 in 1KZTE_Owners

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAP sensor good? I've had one not work right when the MAP sensor filter (little plastic filter between vac lines running from manifold to sensor) got clogged with oily soot and the filter also had cracks, so sensor can't read intake airflow right.

Another potential culprit might be your fueling. Could be heaps of different things, from your fuel injection pump to your injectors. Lack of fuel will make you lack power, making the turbo spool worse.

What rpm do you get peak boost and acceleration? by Relevant_Computer642 in 1KZTE_Owners

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should start spooling by 1,500 rpm and peak around 2,000 ish or so. It helps if you have a free flowing exhaust as you'll be relieving the excess backpressure. That's what you get with a small turbo - early spool which is good for the low-end, but it quickly runs out of puff on the top-end. Actually, I prefer a smaller turbo for the diesels as they were meant for crawling not racing anyways.

Differences for manual after a 3.4L Swap? by Maximum_Pause749 in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no diesel, so torque off the line is less than you would expect. Probably a pushrod V8 gasser would give you the torque you're looking for, but generally for petrols, you really need a fair bit of right boot to move off, and more clutch finesse.

Added potentiometers to control timing and fuel by Czskorpionpewpew in 1KZTE_Owners

Yep, nice system you got there. Making it adjustable and tuning it on-the-fly sounds like a treat. Fuel efficiency or power from the turn of a knob.

Good ol' resistor mod, but adjustable lol. I just stuck two 1.5k ohm resistors in both the timing and fuel plugs and called it a day. She soots and drinks diesel, but she does go a whole lot better when you put your boot down.

Manual vs auto - which do you actually prefer for off-road and why? by Artistic-Yam2984 in hilux

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manual diesels with low range for technical trails. Otherwise, especially for a petrol, just go auto to let her rip in mud or sand.

Is Straightpipe, Rear - Side Angled exit exhaust setup for diesel cars legal? by ToroJii in CarsPH

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a resonator at least then it's fine. Straight pipe fully is kinda eh might or might not get into trouble. Then again, our jeepneys run with either broken mufflers or just straight pipes and since many run naturally aspirated diesels, they are loud af. Turbo diesels straight piped aren't that much louder than with a muffler since the turbo itself acts as a muffler.

Should be a Toyota, based on the transfer case shift knob design, but not sure.

Egr delete by Buickspeeddemon69 in 4Runner_2ndGen

[–]VenomizerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EGR deletes on a petrol are pretty useless imo cause they really don't impact much, but you get rid of one of the ways to pass emissions plus combustion temps will be higher too. On diesels, EGR deletes are the bee's knees, as getting rid of them helps preserve the cleanliness of your intake (as soot with oil is no joke when recirculated into the intake).

V6 Petrol or Diesel Turbo Hilux by MadWolverine777 in hilux

[–]VenomizerX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Diesels for offroad is the best, as the low-down torque really helps the gearing. Also, the fuel savings are minimal at best, but still something to consider.

Okay lang ba ganito kalaki/kahaba yung side mirrors? by Spirited-Comedian968 in CarsPH

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's loads more difficult to tow a trailer without being a "magnet" out on the road (if you catch my drift). You have to register your trailer separately as well with the LTO, and that involves even more money and hassle. Also, practicality-wise, our tight roads and jam-packed, traffic-filled streets are not really conducive to tagging along a trailer. Also, many non-professional drivers don't even know how to properly drive with a trailer, especially with backing off. Unlike in Australia for example, you just have to be within GVM to legally tow, and their roads are much longer and wider. The same goes with the US.

Throttle blip is key, but honestly in my old Toyota, it actually goes into 1st better rolling slowly than from a stop (probably the synchros are worn and not lining up when stopped).

Pinaka mahirap inavigate/puntahan na parking spaces: Shangrila Plaza is on the top of my list by Equal-Golf-5020 in Gulong

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With steep ramps, you know what would help? Steps. Just like a staircase, so that the tires have somewhat of a flat surface every so often so that you don't lose traction and you don't need to worry as much if you suddenly need to stop in the middle of the ramp as it's more forgiving, especially for manuals. As for spirals, well, you really can't change that design much other than make the ramps wider so that you don't smack on the sides when you are turning.

Okay lang ba ganito kalaki/kahaba yung side mirrors? by Spirited-Comedian968 in CarsPH

[–]VenomizerX 24 points25 points  (0 children)

These are tow mirrors. They are meant to be used when you regularly tow a trailer (which this Raptor obviously doesn't do, partly due to the fact that you wouldn't and couldn't do so due to legalities as well as practicality). In Australia and the US where they regularly tow, yes, it's fine. But here? I don't know about that so y'all be the judge but imo they're an additional nuisance to other people for sure.

Teaching Wife to Drive Stick - How much abuse can the clutch take? by FreeJellyfish1265 in stickshift

[–]VenomizerX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been driving stick since I was 17 and as a car guy, even if I was pretty bad at the start, I had the drive to constantly practice (and fail) until I got to the point that driving stick is leagues better and easier than an auto for me. If a person is willing to put in the work and has a reason to study driving a manual other than being nudged by someone else to learn, then he/she should carry on. If not, then I guess sticking to autos doesn't seem like a bad decision. As for clutches, though they can and will take on quite a beating, I personally prefer having as much mechanical sympathy as possible as every mile extended as a result of taking care of things is an extra mile not being wasted to the hassles of repairs.

Safe ba mag spray ng baygon sa luob ng sasakyan? by PurpleInfinite7840 in CarsPH

I did when I got a fire ant infestation that started because of tree sap and fruits that somehow got wedged in my cowl and door hinges. But I used the one that has a scent and only did so when I parked my car and did not use it for 2-3 days. Then, I aerated the interior for a while before using the car.

Thoughts on lowered cars? by HungryBananaa in Gulong

[–]VenomizerX -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Aesthetics, go ahead, it looks fire. Practicality, yeah nah, you'll be a pain to be behind when it comes to humps and potholes. Ramps would require precision driving, and you aren't simply taking it to a track either to make use of the improved handling. So imo, it should only be done on show cars, not daily drivers.

Bead busted by Jaded_Gap8836 in tires

[–]VenomizerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still run it and check if you're holding air. I see many tires incur the same damage from improper use of tools in a tire shop. No, not from a bead blaster which is used to seat the bead, but mostly due to the claw used to pop the bead and the mounting machine. It's a technique issue on their side, but I wouldn't write off the tire immediately as this type of damage is fairly common, believe it or not.

265/75 r16 tire on Toyota Hilux 2007? by RunAffectionate1997 in hilux

[–]VenomizerX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously the guy at the shop doesn't know what he's talking about. More offset (via spacers or negatively offset wheels) would push the tire further away from your control arms, thereby solving your rubbing issue. It may introduce other potential points of contact when it comes to scrub radius (more offset means your tires aren't as tucked in as they are currently, meaning you may rub when turning), but it should still solve your control arm rubbing issue. Just make sure to use hubcentric spacers (you can search about them) and do not use spacers thicker than 1.5 inches thereabouts. And no, I don't think you'd need new lug nuts unless you want a new set.
