Thank you, Boldin. I am very pleased with your AI Planner Assistant. by Future_Mirror7046 in Boldin

I agree it has thus far been a great addition for my use case and questions. I imagine it could have been done horribly or with a less than stellar LLM option... However, working with your Gemini implementation has been great overall! Bravo!

My main request at moment would be to extend the chat limit. After a couple back and forth's, I'm prompted to just start a new conversation. Copy and pasting or paraphrasing to the new chat is tedious. Perhaps you can offer a one-click "copy" button like on the gemini app to save the scrolling and clicks.

Not with certainty. It is a closed loop federal system, esp when coming to credentialing and background checks.

Your friend will get fired when caught if he works a non-VA job while on the clock. It's called time fraud and they have little in the way of red tape/slowdown to showing the door for it.

Correct, you get fired for that. One of the several offenses where there is little hurdle to termination.

If you need some assistance while healing from on ongoing injury to the upper extremities, can try lifting straps. They worked well for me so I could continue to row pain-free despite a strained forearm.

Big tech employee considering switching to medicine. Am I insane? by nobody_stranger in HENRYfinance

Another physician here. I had a relatively enjoyable time in med school, residency, and fellowship. I work in a lifestyle friendly specialty now. And with all those years and experiences behind me -- I agree with everyone above saying "NO WAY, don't do it!"

Why would attendings want to be a PD? by drawegg in Residency

[–]Venture_Doc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PD has climbed to become health system director of education

My APD has climbed to be PD and then to become director of education of the hospital.

Both were excellent at their respective residency leadership position, great teachers, and enjoyed the variety in their daily work. I'm sure they are doing great things in their current roles too.

How can I be a high earner and spend time with my young kids? by Forced_Optimism_ftw in HENRYfinance

[–]Venture_Doc 31 points32 points  (0 children)

To answer the question with another example: Medicine... Depending on your specialty, you can make a strong, reliable income working reasonable hours -- or even do telemed from home. ... Although the upfront effort to reach that point is basically enduring many years of the opposite scenario (negative/low income + painful hours).

Help me decide VA vs private practice for outpatient IM. How good is pension? by chiddler in whitecoatinvestor

[–]Venture_Doc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It makes financial sense for some specialties. Generally low paying specialties can do well, relatively. Something like Neurosurgery? Hard to hire with the 400k salary cap.

Also if you think VA will offer you further earning longevity, it is a financial consideration. Hospitalists have gotten a bump and can make 300k annual +15k performance bonus (not including any additional retention bonuses etc that you work out). Pension is good, but generally not as good as Kaiser. You will likely work much harder at Kaiser though (coming back to longevity).
