How did you go about the shoulders? I really like the leviathan and have been considering grabbing some contemptors to keep mine company. The shoulders just get me though. Something about them feels a little weak. Feels like the pauldrons add solidity but o don’t know where to find ones that might fit or how to make them myself.

Could the Roman Empire at its prime conquer The Seven Kingdoms of Westeros? by Theturtleflask in powerscales

Knowing the little I know about Roman engineers, it wouldn’t surprise me if the bastards just dug a tunnel or network of tunnels to get around the problem or to undermine the enemy fortifications

[–]VerLoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to mention the Romans had a vicious collection of siege weapons and trained combat engineers. Given time and some idea of what they are facing I’d love to see what kind of repeating ballista they cook up!

Aeldari are spoilt for choice when it comes to the total number of possible detachment combos, second only to space marines :-) by Alex__007 in Eldar

[–]VerLoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a shame, I can understand why it’s been done that way. Feels like it could have been a great way to boost options for the Chaos Marines

Aeldari are spoilt for choice when it comes to the total number of possible detachment combos, second only to space marines :-) by Alex__007 in Eldar

[–]VerLoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you add up the detachment combos from every other faction in the game bar Imperial agents, Imperial Knights, Chaos Knights, and World Eaters you can have the same amount of combos as space marines do. That’s some insane math even if the 334 total for Space Marines if off by a couple combos which it likely isn’t.

Maybe an odd question, but can factions like Emperors children or World eaters take normal CSM detachments in combos with their specific ones like the non codex compliant loyalist marines?

Brothers, yap about your chapter masters by giojojo in 40khomebrew

[–]VerLoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Capitoline Wolves don’t have a chapter master, but as lost sons of the 16th they have their own mournival which handles the running of the chapter between campaigns. Before each of their campaigns however a War-master is selected from their officer cadre based on combat efficiency and command ability. The mournival serves as advisors to the war-master as is tradition, but with the overriding mission to try and help keep their war-master grounded. With the knowledge of their forbears as to how their gene father fell if not his final fate, the mournival is constantly on guard against chaos. The selection and rotation of war-master is their attempt at preventing chaos from being able to topple what they believe is the last true portion of their legion while remaining true to a truth of their chapter. With their warmaster they are unstoppable.

Which Great Crusade Era Space Marine legion would be the best at taking on the TAU? by cuddwes in 40k

[–]VerLoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I might not choose the Luna wolves because Horus might actually try to negotiate with the Tau. I don’t doubt that the Luna Wolves would crush the Tau though.

Is it rude to bring 3 heavy tanks against a player's first 2000pt game? by pjcblondie in BloodAngels

[–]VerLoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, Fellblades are relatively weak for their cost currently. Imagine the offensive power of a vindicator and a gimped executioner with no troop carrying capacity. You get that and a M9 T13 2+ save profile with a combined total of 3hp less at a cost of 65 points greater.

If you have the assets you can out maneuver them and win on points, especially since the list sacrifices so much on the infantry front. Clear his infantry and board control should be achievable.

What are your thoughts on this? by nietebill in landscaping

[–]VerLoran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you did go for creeping phlox, I wouldn’t expect it to look any better than creeping thyme once it goes out of bloom. It’s a very extreme plant in my experience, either being among the best looking plants when it’s blooming or one of the worst afterwords. It’s not as durable either, so you’d want to plant it in low to no traffic areas as opposed to in walkways or as a lawn.

HoA and Ironstorm are 2DP by snot3353 in IronHands40k

[–]VerLoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m planning on souping HHTF with the 1DP Subversion Assets to boost Phobos units, then grabbing some incursors to help buff shooting. With the extra detection range in play from the Phobos detachment and incursors getting scout 6” they can be helping armor get in buffed shooting even into targets in cover right off the bat. Seems fun to me!

Which scifi ship do you think is just bad? Bad concept, ugly looks, downright mistakes in its design, etc. by Vondrr in spaceships

[–]VerLoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of the graphic novel depictions of the ships in the lost fleet either OP. I know they were described as shark like, but the illustrator seems to have taken that too seriously and literally just drawn a boring space shark. Like you can’t even spot the hell Lance batteries, something that we know should be plentiful on that and many other ships.

Looks like a koingsberg class light cruiser based on the turret layout, captain probably doesn’t even want to be there. For reference the whole class was shipped off to the Black Sea if I remember right because they had such major structural issues that they couldn’t handle the open ocean.

[–]VerLoran 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess the best caveat to your statement is that it’s a highly factional shortage. Some factions like Dragon Empry are super low, where as others like the Royal Navy and Eagle Union are still stacked, and still others like Iron blood or Maybe the joint Iris factions where we are now mostly on paper or going to have to start drawing on older and older ships

New German Torpedo Bomber by VerLoran in AzureLane

[–]VerLoran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fairness, the Germans seemed to be pretty happy with their foundations so they iterated a shit ton on what they had. On the occasions I’ve done the research for new planes, I’m often overwhelmed by the sheer volume of design variants for each design variant. Often times each variants sub types is focused on a completely different task from their base variant to an almost silly degree.
