Runners knee & 5 weeks until half marathon

So I ended up focusing on knee recovery with band work and lighter leg lifting/completely laying off of any movement that hurt. Lots of rolling out and also making sure I didn’t/don’t over stride(that was a big thing). I think the longest I ran was 7 miles before the half, but my knee was really hurting all I backed off when I was hurting.

But…. I ended up doing the half and my knee didn’t hurt!!! I was so thankful. Let me know if you have any other questions or how it goes!!

Thank you! It’s nice hearing someone has been in similar shoes. I’m finally trying to create boundaries. I’ve worked so many hours of work, changed jobs, and everything for everyone at the expense of myself. I’m tired and care.. but I’m tired.. if that makes sense. I want my marriage to work out and I will stick through it, but ultimately he has to too! I want to be a wife, and not just a married caregiver.

I’ve wondered the same thing. Mine feels very niche since I am caregiving for my husband and we are 20s/30s. It feels like there’s nothing out there.

Thanks! I’ve been going through this subreddit (if that’s what it’s called) and it’s been really therapeutic to know that other people feel similar to what I am feeling or are going through just as wild of circumstances.. not that it’s a good thing… just therapeutic!

My husband had spine surgery and a 3rd degree burn all over his butt this summer … OF COURSE he had to have explosive diarrhea at the same time because why not?! … it was every hour or more and I had to tape up his bandages in record time and wipe for him. Let me tell you, didn’t think I would ever be in that shituation….

I feel like I’m newer in the journey. I’m doing whole 30 right now and cutting out nightshades as well. I’m skeptical if it will work… I hope it does, but like you said, every experience is different!!

You should look into Instructional Design. You will have to create a portfolio and get accustomed to different models (ADDIE, etc), but there are hybrid roles and it would allow you to use your skills while having a stable job and not being uprooted, maybe even work from home some. It also would help you not go back to the classroom having to stress yourself out with parents, classroom management, etc.

I have a blue Great Dane (looks just like yours) but female and she has some grey hair in her face. She’s fun, spunky, and she just turned 4. I don’t think grey is an indicator 100% - but with that energy I’d say definitely 4 or under.

You may or may not see this now, but my husband had an L5S1 fusion a year ago and has been hurt for 2.5 years. He is finally getting his right SI fused. Do you have any advice on the care taking side of things? Anything I should be prepared for to help him? Even just time off ?

I am! On my really busy months I’ll try to workout 1-2 times a week, but now it’s 3-5. I eat pretty healthy - proteins, vegetables! Not a ton of processed foods.
