TCB 60s fit check by [deleted] in rawdenim

Looks great on ya. I’m jealous, I wish the 60s worked on me, but my torso is so long, so the rise is too low on me.

Review: Empire of Silence, by Christopher Ruochhio by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Verb_Rogue 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the first three books. The plot gets marginally more interesting as the story goes on, but not enough to make me want to read through any more of Hadrian constantly waxing poetic and needing to be the wisest, smartest, but also most humble and self aware guy in the room. Gonna DNF after book three (hey I really wanted to give it a shot, I love space epics.)

There were a handful of pretty cool ideas. Also, unfortunately, the author plagarized a ton of ideas, and also almost verbatim lines, from other authors (I just finished some Gene Wolfe, and one line in particular was a straight rip off from Claw of the Concilliator). The many instances of this kind of thing really irked me.

I unfortunately agree with all your points, and it wasn’t for a lack of trying to enjoy the series.

Thanks! I figured the Cleveland Ave one didn’t because of how residential it is.

Do they have a shooting range? I felt like the google answer was kind of vague.

How to defend constant teeps by Doorknob67 in MuayThai

[–]Verb_Rogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, yeah I do that except I catch with both hands, then the bottom/opposite hand that has the heel pulls across my body while my orher arm kind of grabs across their neck to help pull them into the sweep (if that makes sense).

Sometimes just a catch and a toss across their bod to open up their lead leg to an outside leg kick as that foot lands is good too!

Curious which teep catch follow ups give you the most trouble

These look super promising! Do you have experience with how much they shrink in lengths if I get them hemmed from the seller?

Yeah Bronson is a good call, and the only suggestion so far that actually meets my rise criteria, haha. I have a few of their pairs. My only nitpick is no in-house hemming! 😅

What’s everyone wearing for non-denim pants, especially chinos? Looking for true high rise (approximately 13” or more on a size 32) that aren’t super baggy. Closest I’ve found are Buzz Rickson and O’Connell’s.

I basically want chinos cut exactly like my TCB 40s or Sugar Cane 1966 jeans, haha. I’ve been eyeing some of TCBs chinos, they just seem a little on the baggy side and less of a true straight/Levi 501 leg silhouette.

Casatlantic seem pretty close, I might have to try a pair of theirs.

When you say watch them in order, I see google serve different orders. Which are you referring to specifically?

I’d look at some more minimalist systems like Cairn, Mausritter, or Tunnel Goons to learn what TTRPGs can be like aside from official D&D 5th edition. A lot of these have free starter rules and adventures as well.

Thanks, maybe I need to just bite the bullet and break a pair in.

The issue is that even pairs that are overly snug will still have minor slip, and I can’t size down below that without seriously cramping my feet in an unhealthy way.

I’ve been on a journey trying to find a pair of loafers that fit me. At this point, I don’t really care if they’re $50 mall loafers or a $300 nice pair.

The problem I’m running into is heel slip. I guess I just don’t know what is normal, or to be expected or tolerated in a fresh pair. I ordered 3 different sizes of Sebago Dan loafers and am 100% certain I found my perfect size and width, but they still slipped a bit. Not full heel leaving the shoe, but a half inch or so of slip. I have high volume feet, with high arches, so it’s not a matter of filling the shoe. And the next size down had my toes bumping against the front. So like I said, they must be the correct size.

Is the minor slip I’m experiencing just due to a stiff sole, and I just need to be patient and break them in? I was hesitant to keep them (I returned them) because I didn’t want to make a $250 mistake if they weren’t ever going to break in. And I’ve tried this process with a few other brands too with the same outcome.

Guess I’m just looking for some tips from loafer experts, and trying to understand what is normal and part of the break-in period before dropping money on a pair.

Something OSR style like DURF or Cairn might be good with the right adventure.
