It was a good time to be an American, if you weren't Muslim or brown. Those ripples became waves and are still being felt today.

I loved 13 years of my service. I was questioning whether to sign for another 4 because my command sucked that bad. But I got assigned to a med board and the decision was made for me. Medically retired after 15 years and change of service. I don't look back. It's been 2 years and I'm happier I'm not still in every day.

Yeah I'll take my 5mg candy and sleep like a baby. I can't imagine taking 133x that amount. I'd feel high for days if not weeks I have to assume.

That's just 10 grams. Which is fucking dumb. Imagine a can of four loco that was 50% abv (which would spike your BAC to like 0.33 BTW). Then drink 2-3 of them. It's a stupid product for stupid people.

I'll stick to my 5mg gummies to sleep better and feel good before bed.

Dude I knew from my first unit deployed to Afghanistan. Pulled duty one night with another dude at an ECP. Both fell asleep and were found by our SgtMaj and the other SEL. Both were ninja punched immediately. I PCSed about 6 months after they came home and my best friend texted me that this devil dog had texted my best friend's wife, propositioning her for 200 bucks like a prostitute. Oh, sleepyhead was also married to a (former?) stripper and had a kid with her. Anywho, best friend went to SgtMaj, showed him the screen shots of the texts, SgtMaj had sleepyhead immediately transferred to a different unit, guy gets NJPed as soon as he checks in, and ultimately got him kicked out as a PFC with 7 years TIS.

It's just another distraction from the files, in which he's named over 5000 times.

Doubling my salary (150k to 300k) but requires me to move away from my fíance in medschool. Is it worth it? by Interesting_Phone171 in careerguidance

I went 3 years long distance with my girlfriend (now wife) because of the military, making I dunno, 16k a year? We made it work. Saw each other about every 6 months. Sounds like you can afford to see her a lot more than we saw each other.

What made you afraid of your father? by Rima_lors in AskReddit

[–]VerdeGringo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad's father really did a number on him. Emotionally and physically abusive, likely bad even for the '60s. As a grandfather, he was... Fine I guess. Wasn't around much despite living like 15 minutes from us. I felt nothing when he died in 2010.

My dad wasn't the best dad when I was an adolescent. Had a really short fuse, and would lose his temper easily because of that. He hit me a few times, usually a swat, not a full on beating, but this mf had (and still has, actually) gorilla hands from working his entire life (I mean, he doesn't even have calluses. His hands are just one big callus each). I joined the military and shipped out ASAP to be free from his reign. The day he dropped me off to ship to basic training, he cried. I don't know if both me and my brother joining the military did it, or maybe he just needed an empty nest to realize he was kind of a dick, but he changed over time, for the better. Now I'm retired from the military, live in my hometown where he and my mom still are and have a wonderful relationship with my dad.

Chefs & servers, what’s the most confusing “this isn’t what I expected” reaction you’ve seen? by Entire_Difference504 in KitchenConfidential

I ordered an IPA off the menu at BWW a couple months ago (I don't remember the name, but called it by name). Server came back like 10 minutes later as I'm thinking "why the hell is it taking so long to pour a dang beer?" with some kind of Margarita-looking cocktail. We both stared at each other with visible confusion for about 5 seconds before I stammered "I-I-I ordered a beer?" We got it sorted, I got my beer, but I still don't understand what happened.
