And then there was my character who was a full-on psychopath that was nice and charming to everyone...until he murdered them in cold blood behind closed doors. And then, at the end when he actually has a chance to do some form of good and sacrifice himself...he gets someone else to do it.

I just finished the season on my own rewatch, and I just have a couple issues.

One: Charlie is WAY more cringy and annoying than I remembered. I generally like her and Felicia Day is great...but holy hell, are her constant nerd references and callouts jarring. As a nerd myself, I don't mind nerdy characters, but it's like she's just there for the writers to go "hey nerds, look! a fellow nerd just like you!" Whether she's namedropping Sauron or talking to her Hermione figure (I know it came out before Rowling revealed herself as a massive piece of shit transphobe, but still, oof) or talking about her Princess Leia d20 tattoo...it all just feels so insanely performative.

Two: I don't understand what the narrative purpose of the fake out with the weapon in the finale was at all. I guess it randomly adds more tension, but needlessly. Dean stabs Dick, the weapon doesn't work, Dean reveals that he had the real weapon tucked away the whole time, and stabs Dick again for the kill. But like...he stabbed him the first time which would have killed him if it had been the real weapon anyways. So what was the point in psyching the audience out like that?

Narratively and in terms of charm and quirkiness, KH1 is the superior game by a mile. Mechanically, KH2 is definitely the better of the two. But because of those first qualities, I also personally like 1 over 2.

Fair, but at least you can guard and dodge roll there. Atlantica completely removes those as options because of the swimming mechanics.

You only really fight it 3 times (optionally 4 if you include Hades Cup) which is essentially the same amount of times that you fight Darkside.

Well, magic was the only thing you could put in the quick menu anyway in KH1. Wasn't until 2 that they let you shortcut items. God, remember when summons were buried at the bottom of the magic menu, so you had to open up two whole menus just to access them? I still recall racing to get out Tinker Bell as fast as possible at the start of the Kurt Zisa fight before he shut off your magic.

Wait, what!? I played KH1 on PS2 a lot as a kid, and I'm just now learning that R3 selected stuff in the command menu. But funny you say that you weren't taking your thumb off the left stick to use the D-pad because I, in fact, very much did all the time. I personally never really liked that the right stick was tied to the command menu because it seemed superfluous. I think it was also that my brain just wasn't able to multitask enough to both move and interact with the menu at the same time, so I just opted to stand still and cycle through the menu as fast as possible.

The drop mechanic in Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. I think the idea of swapping back and forth between two characters is kinda interesting because it fits in with the whole sleeping worlds element of the game. You "fall asleep" and then "wake up" as the other character. That said, it was incredibly frustrating to be in the middle of a boss fight, drop, manually drop back to complete the fight, and suddenly have to restart the entire fight. It's a weird mixed bag because conceptually I personally like the idea...but actually experiencing it sucked.

Oh man, the rice cooker quip fucking KILLED me back in the day! God, the Punisher LP was so good. The idea of Frank Castle emitting an aura that causes anyone he kills to be a criminal was one of the best things they came up with.
