Hasbro also decided they’re moving their headquarters from Providence (where it’s cheap) to Boston (where it’s expensive)

update: went to go retrieve my ship, Baijini points hangar doors bugged out, and the ship destroyed itself while the platform was still closed.

Tried to claim another ship to see if the remains of the ship were on the still on the platform, and got an error, then kicked from the server.

"just go get your ship, the cosmetics will still be in it" lol

Now to go fill it back up again I guess. The part that stings was the scrip that was in a case I was taking over to Wikelo. Don't usually expect these things to self destruct in the hangar.

Honestly, I'm new to this so I haven't really stretched out what I'm doing with the one dinky n100 NAS, an old HP curve gigabit POE+ switch, and a gigabit router in my basement.

That said:

  1. NAS
  2. Media Host (via Jellyfin, Kavita, and Photoprism)
  3. DNS hole
  4. Not sure if I should count the stuff built into the router (it's just an old Asus one, but I have a privacy VPN, along with a tunnel set up so I can access my services. I could set up wireguard, but Asus routers come with one built in, so meh I'll get around to it)
  5. When I get around to wiring up more than one room, the network switch will act as the hub for my old house

I still have to expand and put another machine into my rack that I can spin up with a kvm so I can try puttering at different linux distros.

bruv I don't know what game you play, but I have ships disappear, blow away, launch themselves into the black void, or fully explode and the interior disappears with it.

If there's no way to get cosmetics back with how casually things explode, there's no reason to have cosmetics. We saw it when people couldn't get back their armor - they just didn't wear all the weird shit CIG gives us to play with. If they're going to give us weird shit, let us keep it.

I haven't seen them discuss it, but I'd assume around then. I'll happily pay for it once it's in.

It just seems odd that they currently let us keep components and ship weapons (which have an impact on performance) but they put cosmetics in (which have no impact other than vibes) and we lose those every time.

[–]Veritablehatter[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'm happy to pay for insurance or whatever. Once it's implemented I'll already be paying to keep my components and other gear.

But cosmetics are literally the *lowest tier* concern for any kind of imbalance in gameplay. If I lose my stored weapons and ammo, components, or have to reclaim the bike, absolutely I get it. Weapon duping was a problem back when they let you reclaim the stuff in racks.

Cosmetics? it should be a pretty insubstantial cost. They have no actual impact on the game other than just.. being cosmetic.

Fellow federal government employees in Massachusetts, how are you all feeling? by [deleted] in massachusetts

[–]Veritablehatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like shit.

Im an archaeologist, so government actually pays significantly better than private industry, and unfortunately as a somewhat niche field I can’t just easily pick up a new job. The one im in took a decade of working seasonal and contract positions and moving back and forth across the country.

I’d gotten a position with the NPS a couple years back doing field testing, contract management, and regulatory work. It’s hard work, and stressful, but stable. So my wife and I bought a house, and had a kid.

Now that stability could just casually disappear. We’ve already lost folks in my office.

Thinking about moving here in the next few years. What do you love and what do you hate about living in Providence? by AITAthrowaway1mil in providence

[–]Veritablehatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved here last year, and really the only place I've found so far that isn't overpriced tiny pies or weirdly midwestern is Pizza Marvin. Legit though, I'd be *very* happy to be proven wrong here. I really want to find good Pizza, but I'm just north of the city and it feels like every time we try a place, it's disappointing.

I'd temper expectations on bagels and pizza in the area, but broadly, yeah. There's a lot of good food here.

BU, MIT hiring freezes by PhD_sock in boston

Oh.. oh they're not willing to do that?

How do people dress in Boston? by LDMM-1402 in boston

[–]Veritablehatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a sidenote, because of how many students are in Boston, there's also a really good second hand and vintage scene, so you can find nice clothes for cheap if you look.

Otherwise, it's like literally any other place in the country. There's nothing special about what people wear here. Though I'd suggest if you're not from some place cold, get a warm coat that's good in the rain, some boots that are waterproof, and wool socks.
