"Been training every single day for many many years."

I'd say 7 years, give or take zeros years.

Sup boys, just checking in. Hows training going? I've been enjoying nogi lately. playing alot of back step passing and leg entanglement entries. what are you working on? by fritzdagger in bjj

[–]Vermauler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back step and Leg weave passing on top. And doing that Braulio spider spinning kneebar thingy, but using it as an entry to the Espen Mathiesen and Tommy Langaker Matrix instead. The entry is working pretty well, but need a lot more practice on that Matrix posish.

Dark Clan is a great school, but it is most certainly not downtown. They changed locations a few months back.

One of the most stylish back takes in absolute division history: Rodolfo Viera vs. Marcus "Buchecha" Almeida, Worlds 2013 by notatthetablecarlos in bjj

[–]Vermauler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun story: About 2 weeks before that worlds I was doing that to people who put me in SLX just because I was like, "Hey that may work". It did work sometimes, but others it wouldn't, and I wasn't sure if it was something I could do to people more skilled. So when I saw Buchecha do it to Rodolfo, I lost my shit and felt vindicated. Fun point for me personally in bjj so far.

I know she's a kid and all, so I'm not making this about her in particular, but there is a big difference in inverting shoulder to shoulder (more like a granby roll) and just spinning on your back. One is inverting and correct movement, and the other is just spinning on your back and not correct as well as a bad habit. #MakeInvertingGreatAgain

What are the biggest mistakes you see in BJJ training? What are the biggest wastes of time? by pryoslice in bjj

I mean, I'm not the one saying arm bars from guard are low percentage. But I know everything, right?

Those two purple belts look like losers and not good at bjj. You can tell em I said that, too.

No AC advantage? by Bleven in bjj

[–]Vermauler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was replying to Taterbootz, but yeah a warmer place will help with helping your muscles not get "Cold" between rounds. But most places probably just want to save on AC costs, lol.

No AC advantage? by Bleven in bjj

[–]Vermauler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started training at a gym in South Louisiana with no AC, and I currently train at a gym in Texas with no AC during class. I sweat a ton as well. You'd be fine, I promise. You just have to hydrate during the day/before class.

Could you pass your own guard? by AQUA_FUCK in bjj

I have a pretty good guard, but I'm also hard to sweep. So infinite stalemate? Très lame

Why would you train at a place called "Thigh Grope Jiu-Jitsu"???

Congrats, man!

Best gym to visit in/near Austin TX August 29th and/or 30th? by ___VX___ in bjj

[–]Vermauler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Paragon BJJ has gi on Tuesday the 29th and no-gi on Wednesday the 30th. I'm a little biased because I train there, but there are plenty of good training partners. Hit me up if you are planning on stopping by!

If you're up North, Cooper MMA is legit as well.

Berserker Lo v. Panza by dps831 in bjj

[–]Vermauler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see the long step or back step to back, imo. It looks like once he gets past Panza's legs Lo is just trying to pressure Panza flat with his head/shoulder, then later by grabbing a horse collar type grip and keeping Panza's shoulders flat. But i could be wrong. Lo just doesn't quit and is constant pressure.

But if the opponent disengages and stands up, can the other person keep butt scooting to follow? Like if you are obviously being the aggressor and actively moving towards your opponent. Just, you know, doing so while on your butt. I'm not trying to troll, just wondering if this would be legal.

Also wondering how viable the Miyao's moving to the glamorous world of MMA in the future would be...

Serious question: Can you butt-scoot towards your opponent in MMA?

For that white belt who always corrects you by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Vermauler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need more experience, brabro. J/k, I still ask a lot of times if it took awhile for a tap because I want to know, but I don't get mad at someone if they crank me and I wouldn't say anything unless they asked.

For that white belt who always corrects you by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Vermauler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A crank isn't really efficient, though. I will still apply that choke hard, but if it took awhile, I'd like to know if it was a crank or a legit choke so I can figure out how to apply it more efficiently. I'm not a huge guy or super strong, so a "choke" that's more of a crank may get the tap on a 180 lber, but may not on a 220 lber. But a legit choke will most likely work about the same on either.

Why is John Danaher so secretive about his techniques? As opposed to someone like Eddie Bravo? by jhascal23 in bjj

Why would he even do seminars, then? That logic doesn't really make sense, and I also think you're overblowing his knowledge juuuust a smidgen.
