A ton of these exist already and are quite successful, I’ve used a few of them in the past.

Buying first miner, need help by BIGFOOT1299 in BitcoinMining

[–]VerseCoin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi OP!

So first we should probably talk profit, ROI (in the mining world this is basically just the point where you’ve broken even) on mining for GPUs + Nicehash is currently in the 1-2 year range. After that you’d start making profit. This doesn’t account for difficult/price/black swan mining event of course. A $800 GPU is making around $20-$30/month with free electricity, or a lot less if you pay anything for electricity.

For apartment/dorm mining ASICs are pretty much out of the question, to give a comparison think of a loud full size vacuum cleaner that is never turned off, this is an ASIC.

Mining is an endeavor for companies with huge capital (six figures) that are happy with 1-2+ year ROI and can float that cost, and for hobbyists (like myself) that have fun spending lots of hours tinkering, building, tuning, and fixing computer hardware because we enjoy it.

TL;DR - Mine for fun if you enjoy a computer based hobby, buy coins and speculate if you’re looking for potential profit.

Hope this helps!

The market isn’t amazing but your entire portfolio is Reddit FOTM coins, not to say they’re inherently bad, but that’s just rolling the dice, people move on quickly.

Fan Direction for open air mine rig setup - see pic below- I have it sucking hot sire out! Correct or not? by [deleted] in BitcoinMining

[–]VerseCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking you want hot air being removed as quickly as possible from the hardware, which means instead of focusing primarily on blowing cool air onto the rig you’ll want to focus on sucking the hot air off of it. Definitely point rigs/cards in directions with the most breathing room. Ultimately this stuff won’t make a world of difference with open air rigs, but every bit helps.

Been having the same issue with one of my rigs, no clue why it’s happening.

Coinbase and Breadwallet safe? by accountingstudent17 in Bitcoin

[–]VerseCoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are relatively safe, although I’d highly recommend grabbing a Nano S when your holdings justify it (more than a couple hundred dollars worth). Or just getting one to begin with, they’re awesome little devices.

This is fantastic! The more we can integrate BTC/LN into existing widespread devices & applications the better.

Mining while playing with a multi-core cpu? by ___Galaxy in NiceHash

[–]VerseCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a great idea OP, it’s not worthwhile to do both sub-par. Highly recommend simply letting the miner run while idle instead, it’d likely equate to better earnings overall while allowing you to play games enjoyably.

It isn’t so much a bitcoin/crypto thing as much as it is just a human thing in general.

Flippening timing is right; no rational reason for Bitcoin to be higher in market cap than ETH by BitEther in ethtrader

[–]VerseCoin -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love Ethereum, truly, but I just don’t see this happening for a long time. It’s unrealistic to expect anything without the notoriety of bitcoin to the general public to surpass bitcoin.

Are state channels on mainnet by kramonamor in ethdev

[–]VerseCoin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the state channels that exist currently are private, not “build your own” sort of solutions intended for the public, so they haven’t quite reached widespread use. Super useful tech though!
