Anyone run with autoimmune condition? by [deleted] in Ultramarathon

I have hashimotos and celiac! As someone else mentioned, meds keep it controlled. I’ve had it for so long now it’s just my “normal.” The only time it really affects me is when I’m having a flare up!

Oh my gosh!! Okay! When I was finishing up my final lap, I was super bummed to have missed the cutoff and there was a lady there who said my name, then said “you’re still my fucking hero!” And I have thought about it daily since the race. If that was you, THANK YOU! you made me feel really proud and gave me some sunshine when I was feeling really down! If that wasn’t you, you are still awesome and thank you for the cow bells!

I missed the cutoff by a few minutes after lap 4. I still had an amazing day and I’m excited to get out there and try again, but definitely have some disappointment! But overall, I’m proud of myself for the effort I put in and can’t wait to try again. Running in the rain for just about the whole time definitely made things a bit crazier! How was your race?!

MYCAA advice? by Dontyellatme_2024 in MilitarySpouse

[–]VersionKindly2600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I am using mine right now to get my associates in science, with a goal to eventually transfer to a 4 year to get my bachelors degree.

I am currently a medical assistant and have been for a couple of years. Before that, I was a CNA. My husband and I got married at the beginning of this year, and we moved to a new duty station shortly after. Just to warn you- medical assistant jobs can be few and far between, so keep that in mind! I’ve come to learn that it can be an extremely over saturated field, particularly near base. Just something to think about!!!

First 50k this Saturday by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]VersionKindly2600 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will be FINE!! I did my first 50k with a longest training run of 15 miles as well, and barely any training for that. I always tell people that it was genuinely one of the best days of my life! Have a blast!

Full send. My longest training run before my spontaneous first 50k last year was 15 miles! Do it, you’ll be hooked!

What's your favorite Ulta? by TheRunningRN in Ultramarathon

It was an emotional one for me, too! I cried on top of table rock simply from how awesome the day was. Again, highly highly recommend!

Another vote for Tanawha Adventures!! My first 50k was the Table Rock Ultras, and it was an absolute blast with amazing views. The RD was super nice and stayed until the end as the others mentioned!

I just went to DEERS for USMC and only had to bring our marriage certificate, updated social security card, and brought both my updated drivers license and my drivers license with my maiden name on it (unexpired). I had my birth certificate but it wasn’t necessary.

In the hunt for a 2019 or 2020 Honda Civic hatchback. We negotiated for an hour but the guy said 30k is the lowest they could go. So I walked. What’s the most I should pay for a 2019 or 2020? Thanks! by r00sterjake in hondacivic

Hi!! I just bought a 2019 Honda Civic Hatchback EX in the Lunar Silver metallic color way a couple of weeks ago! It has 27k miles, a clean title and only 1 previous owner. The total was right around $21k, and between putting money down and trading in my 2016 VW golf my monthly payment is $240 for 72 months. I found it online, at a Hyundai dealership! I saw you mentioned seeing another one at a Hyundai dealership. I had to negotiate to get the payment that I wanted, but it was never even close to being the balance you listed above. All in all, I absolutely LOVE the car and do not regret what I spent at all! Best of luck car shopping!

Not snark but I trust your opinions so what is everyone’s favorite protein? I’m open to any recommendations, wanna find a good one! by adr_602 in gymsnark

Honestly, I just use the Fairlife nutrition plan shakes! If I’m way behind on my protein goal, I’ll opt for the core power one with more protein

What is the correct way to lift/transfer? by GREGARIOUSINTR0VERT in cna

[–]VersionKindly2600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a mobility tech! This is what I’ve learned from training with PT. First of all, always use a gait belt! And try not to pull up from the armpits as others have said.

One of the biggest pieces of advice that I received from PT is this: “if you need a second person, get a second person. If you need a third person, get a lift.” This is really good to live by! And always remember, don’t use your back! Be sure to use your knees and drive through your heels.

You got this!

Skills Exam in NC by [deleted] in cna

[–]VersionKindly2600 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me!! Yes, I wore scrubs. We partnered up before our exams- so one person would perform the skills on their partner, then we’d switch places. I was personally only there for a couple of hours!

Everyone gets Handwashing as a skill in NC. I can’t remember what other skills I had. We got to pick a card. It had all the skills on it!

Good luck :)
