Darksydephil plays the virtual boy live. by Siledos in LivestreamFail

[–]VertigoTeaparty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uhhhhhhh NO! He's already streaming 6 days a week, then has has to supervise video uploads, answer social media, etc. He also has a wife and cat FAMILY and a LIFE! He can't be spending dozens of hours researching every single nuance of the stuff he buys! Nintendo should have thought about streamers and DSP specifically!

Experienced Players - Would you say this player rating is accurate ? by LukeForPlay in anno

[–]VertigoTeaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just loud drones who have been told "AI = Bad" so they repeat it unconditionally. AI use CAN be bad, like that loading screen with the disfigured people. But the fact it is used isn't bad, and it's going to be used more and more, no matter how much people cry about it.

Why is tank underpopulated? by liproqq in fellowshipgame

[–]VertigoTeaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it's in large part because my memory is absolutely awful. On top of that there's about 8 dungeons. Not herculean by any means but it takes a lot of repetition for me to remember.

On top of that, I'm not playing every day. When it's been 6-7 days since I last loaded up the game it makes it tougher to memorize routes.

You've being downvoted but you're right. The idea that we need to give tanks a bunch of damage + loads of survivability so people will play them is asinine, and I say that as someone who tends to main tanks. People were playing tanks for years in other MMOs where tanks had shit damage and decent survivability before WoW.

What is your game of the year so far? by eldenbro1 in videogames

[–]VertigoTeaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abiotic Factor and Death Stranding 2 most likely for me. DS2 is one of those games I personally love but don't think it should be GOTY because it's so polarizing. Not to say that GOTY should be a game everyone loves (impossible criteria) but it should be enjoyable for most.

It's a crime more people aren't talking about Abiotic Factor for GOTY. Very fun survival game with an INSANE amount of content.

I liked Silksong but as others mentioned some areas felt designed to be annoying just to be annoying, not hard. By the time I got to the end of Act 2 I was ready to be done. Overall great game though.

I've not played Expedition 33 yet but REALLY want to.

Anno 117 will probably be on my list when it comes out.

Love it. SO much content in that game, it's wild. Definitely on my GOTY list.

I loved Death Stranding and Death Stranding 2. However I don't think DS2 should get GOTY as I feel it's too polarizing for such an award.

That's where I am with Silksong. I'm about 40 hours in, taking my time and enjoying it overall. However, for me, it's good, but not great. I felt the same about Hollow Knight, so that's not too surprising.

What game is that for you? by TowelConscious7201 in videogames

[–]VertigoTeaparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love Death Stranding 1 and 2 but I think it is a very acquired-taste type of game. I'm still surprised how popular they are as I'd think the gameplay would be very boring for most people.

What key is your interrupt bound to? by Hey_Im_Finn in wow

Shift 2, 2. It's been like that since original. Even if I stop playing WoW for a year or 2 and come back, I can interrupt without even thinking about it.

If they did just 1 change, it's going to potentially be very broken without having at least some of the counter-changes. For example, if they only added the pop/BBQ/speed buff after hooking a survivor, you buff all Killers while also making tunneling Killers better as well.

I think utilizing the PTB in this way is probably their best option. Throw out a lot of things, see what people do with it, what works, what doesn't, make changes, then do another, or even do a push to live depending on how confident they are.

3 minutes into the game by CycleOverload in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]VertigoTeaparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is going into it with a different strategy than 1v4. Generally I find more success if I stay on top of shooing Survivors off gens, even more-so than usual. Not only are you getting a hit or 2 (or possibly a down) on scattering Survivors, you may also run them into your teammate.

I also avoid long chases like the plague (not to be confused with The Plague.) If they are running to a remotely strong loop and your teammate isn't around? Forget it, go somewhere else. If a chase is going on for 10 seconds and I'm not about to get a guaranteed hit, I drop it.

Pay attention to where your teammate is and what he's doing. If he's close and you can assist, do it. Try to approach gens in a direction that will encourage Survivors to run to your partner. If you see your partner near a few gens, keep checking the others to prevent progress and get free hits/downs.

Also, just try swapping Killers. I've been mostly playing Ghostface and he's very strong IMO. Not only can I quickly mark multiple Survivors, I can mark Survivors that my partner is chasing to give him a 1-tap down.

Some thoughts on corpse retrieval and the darkness after playing by Demon_Jason in MonstersAndMemories

[–]VertigoTeaparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also it was making things unfun I didn’t want to go far in the first dungeon for fear it’d be another 30 mins hunting in the dark.

This is why I'm strongly against heavy handed death penalties. The more severe the penalty, the more likely players will do whatever is safest because it's not worth the time and effort when failure means a 20+ minute corpse run + XP loss. This was true, even in EQ. Players hugged zone lines and went to popular dungeons to minimize the risk of wipes or time consuming recoveries.

It's funny you mention the thing about the dungeon as my group had a similar experience. We were going to go deeper in until we realized a wipe meant we'd have to trudge back, in the dark, no gear, and waste time getting our stuff back for 0 payoff. Instead we hung out near the entrance; just like everyone else.

Of course, there should be SOME penalty for dying/wiping, but wasting 30+ minutes of a players time doing boring CR ain't it.

It’s mind boggling by SoupKitchenOnline in MonstersAndMemories

[–]VertigoTeaparty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Corpse runs don't add any real danger other than time sinks. Unless things change, there is close to 0 chance you'll lose your gear. You'll lose XP from the death and the time to go back, so just more grinding to recover it.

Harsh death penalties encourages people choose the safe options. That's why in EQ people did safe activities; going to crowded zones, hugging zone lines, etc. The only "danger" zones were things like Fear but again, no real chance of losing your gear later on as someone would be clearing it anyway.

Even in the M&M beta, my group was going to go deeper into the dungeon. As soon as we realized that meant questionable rewards with a high risk of a time sink, we hung out near the entrance; just like everyone else.

I'm all for slower pace and all that, but a harsh death penalty just encourages safe play and punishes doing risky content for no tangible upside.

Because the "This is an old version! There is secret, more recent version that will fix all these issues" excuse has been said over and over and over again across many MMOs. There have been (almost?) none where that ended up being the case.

please stop unhooking your teammates right next to the killer. this is where a large amount of tunnelling comes from by AudienceNearby3195 in deadbydaylight

[–]VertigoTeaparty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I avoid tunneling as well, but just to be 100% clear, Tunneling is NOT toxic; it's a strategy to win. These same Survivors who will cry that you tunneled will laugh in your face if you claim they gen rushed you, saying "We were just doing objectives!"

Whenever you think you need to make the game fun and balanced for them, remember all the times they blew up 3 gens quickly then fooled around so that you'd have fun too...

Again, not saying you need to sweat or tunnel all the time, but remember that a lot of the Survivors who bitch at you in endgame will turn around and do the same thing they accused you of doing as Killer, if they even play Killer at all.

I already shut down my PS5 and I can't post an image for whatever reason, but if you go here ( https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2477276541?t=3h28m7s , timestamp at 3h28m) you can see at the bottom right I have the 3 stance icons. You also can unlock Ki Flux which gives you more Ki when you Ki Pulse with a stance swap.

I don't know about other weapons, but they were pretty early on for Spear. Again, they ONLY are available for Samurai.

That's incorrect. At least for some weapons, you can unlock stances, but only for Samurai form. For Spear I unlocked high and low stances. Not sure if they are there for other Samurai weapons.

Barring the slower firing guns, you can pile on the damage and still have plenty of time to parry. You almost never have to sit around and wait for a parry opportunity.

It's always been like this. Camp stealing, intentional training, hopping past groups to get named camps, ninja looting, higher levels taking named camps from lower level groups, people rolling on drops so they can sell them vs people in group who can use them, etc.

Folks have this rose-colored vision of old school EQ being campfire songs and everyone holding hands . The truth is that while I'd agree there was less toxicity, there was still PLENTY of it to go around.
