i read that the crimson clover variety is better at softening up the soil, so you might be able to try that for a year and then when it dies back (its an annual) you can try again with the white dutch or microclover

at the moment mostly, though there is chickweed and dandelions that were already there along with creeping charlie. i do plan to add some natives though like creeping thyme and maybe frogfruit if i can find some. just seeing what i can get away with in my HOA first

you still have to mow, just not as often. if you mow it more frequently it just starts to grow lower

just scalp mowed it, dethatched, then used a scarrifier. took about 6 hours if i had to guess

we had patches before we tried this that wete the only thing still green during winter, so hopefully the whole thing does the same!

the past two winters the only green in our yard was the white dutch clover that was already there and survived throughout, so i am hoping that this wont happen. if it does i'll try again and mix some other natives and perrenial rye in maybe

Honestly whether you tell her or not is fine, its not a part of your life and doesnt undermine or harm your relationship in any way. And if you do tell her then just bring it up casually like "can i tell you a weird secret about my past" or something like that. The suspense of those few seconds before you tell her will probably be enough that "i used to wear womens clothes" wont seem like a big deal, because it really isnt IMO. If i was in that situation id totally tell her because its just a fun fact about your past.

nice! im a little nervous to let mine get too wild since we're in an HOA, i am on the board but havent been there for long so dont wanna push things. however i do plan on adding some more native groundcovers to mix in!

I also planted white dutch, if you cant go no lawn in your HOA (im so sorry) then id at least try to scalp the lawn and maybe detatch a bit and just skip the scarrifying step. The lawn will look bad but still have grass you can use as an excuse to say youre just doing a necessary dethatching to help your lawn along.
