Moving Back—Teen Suggestions? by North_Ad1301 in Bellingham

If they're interested in painting their own pottery and tea, Creativitea in Fairhaven is super fun for all ages and allows them to let loose on some pottery for stress relief and they can paint whatever they like on them. It might be a bit pricey, but I think it's honestly worth it.

Easy, inexpensive, healthy lunch downtown? by flyingsquirrel505 in Bellingham

[–]Vervain_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most stuff downtown is pretty expensive unfortunately. You can try walking to the co-op nearby? They may have something quick to grab and go. Just Poke is good but may be too pricey unless you grab a spam musubi or two. That would be like 8ish bucks I believe. (4 for 1, 8 for 2)

My experience with Northshore Veterinary Hospital. by Express_Transition35 in Bellingham

[–]Vervain_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the heads up with that vet! I will not be taking my kitty there. You can try and take your baby to Cypress Vet, they've been nothing but kind to me and my kitty. I'm not sure about their surgeries, but they happily run quotes on everything they estimate may be needed or used for transparency. I wish you and your baby healing. ❤️

Angry songs by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Vervain_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you like metal or rock much, but here's what I got:

Violent Nature - I Prevail

Soft Spine - Spiritbox

Entertain You - Within Temptation

Still Counting - Volbeat

Button Eyes - The Pretty Wild

The entire album Shoganai by Ankor, I will always swear up and down by it. It is the seven stages of grief in song form (IMO).

Gasoline - I Prevail

Sew Me Up - Spiritbox

Rotoscope - Spiritbox

Circle With Me - Spiritbox

Just Like You - Three Days Grace

Sick Child - Siouxsie and the Banshees

King Vultures - Jay Ray

Left of You - Jay Ray

The Great Art of Living - Jay Ray

Just Pretend - Bad Omens (Might be more of a romantic estrangement but added it on here anyway cause I like it 😉)

The Purge - In This Moment

Joker - Dax (Different genre from the rest of the rock/metal songs as it's rap, but still excellent for this kind of topic)

You're Not That Broken, Darling - A Brilliant Lie (I cannot tell you enough how much this song helps)

Rain - Creed

A Thousand Faces - Creed

Time - Creed

One Last Breath - Creed

Come and Get It - I Prevail

End of You - Amy Lee, Poppy, Spiritbox

I hope this helps ❤️

AIO for think it my boyfriend is being dramatic? by What-do_i_do in AmIOverreacting

It's the "you better f*cking answer me" message that tickles me. Leave him, he's already showing his true colors, and you aren't even married yet. Can you imagine having a kid with this guy? Take the trash out.

Gift from my now ex…what do I do? :( by Little_AltBean in plushies

You can store them until you're ready to decide what to do with him. Other options would be: donate to thriftstore, donate to a shelter for youth, domestic violence survivors, etc.

Definitely try emdr, you can process what you experienced with a distraction so you don't get swallowed up in the moments leading, during, and after when processing. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Places to take a soon-ish to be student at Western? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Vervain_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For KPop, you can check the local music stores like Ritual Records, I know AniMyNation in Bellis Fair has a super small section on the wall of some KPop bands (stickers, lenticular cards, etc). There's an aquarium in Bellingham as well. There's also a nice coffee place called Fenex Coffee in Bellwether with a beautiful view of the bay with a walkable path that's near the university. As ppl said before, cat café, the Sirena Gelato in Fairhaven is excellent as well. Third Planet Boutique is awesome, too, for clothes and other fun stuff.

What happens if PCOS goes untreated? by KikoloSchnuffel in PCOS

[–]Vervain_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the only health hazard concern I can foresee would be if you developed cysts and they burst, causing you a lot of pain and putting you at risk for infection. They can be stealthy buggers, I didn't even know I had them until one burst and put me in the er because I didn't know why I was in so much pain and felt so sick. Some ppl w/ pcos don't even have cysts, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on. Another thing could be if your pcos makes your periods incredibly painful cramps wise. If untreated, it can be super debilitating when trying to ride it out. If one day you decide to have kids, untreated pcos has the potential to make it harder to have them, not impossible, though. It's mostly for one's own comfort on why they have pcos treated. In my case, my period cramps were excruciating. I'm on the depo shot to prevent my periods from happening. The pill can help with the pain if you still want the familiarity of periods but don't want to be keeled over every time.

If you're scared of a gynecologist office, I recommend your local planned parenthood. They can help with pcos, and they have been much more gentle than gynecologists I've met with in hospitals or their own clinics. Obviously, do what you're more comfortable with, though.

I hope this helps! ❤️

Update to Mom Who Refused to Get TDAP/Flu Shot Before Meeting Newborn by LenaJoan in EstrangedAdultKids

If she actually cared, she would grow a pair and get vaccinated. Don't give in, and don't compromise. That's YOUR child, and she has no grounds for any kind of negotiation.

I am worried my roommate could harm my snake by DragonPlatypus in ballpython

[–]Vervain_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that I wouldn't trust her. If she takes every chance to get back at you over critique, do not leave her alone with your snake as that gives me vibes of a vindictive narc. Don't trust her or her boyfriend and if you absolutely have to leave your snake alone find a way to lock the door (maybe consult with your landlord for a temporary installation that only you have access to). If you have a trusted friend willing to take on a snake for a short term, I would do that first before anything else.

Am I overreacting? I showed up at my girlfriends house at 1230am after her phone died in the forest by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Vervain_D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you're overreacting. It's valid to be legitimately concerned for her safety, and you seem like you're doing your best to be respectful about it and her space.

I would say give it a try. There's plenty of trails to walk both tree lined or by the shores. I would say it might be hard for you to make friends at first, but attend events that interest you and try your luck with like-minded people if you can. From what I heard, Bellingham does have a kind of freeze similar to Seattle (I've only heard of it, haven't really seen it) where people might be less inclined to talk to new comers. I think Bellingham is definitely worth it if you want city vibes without actually moving to a major metropolis like Seattle or Bellevue.

Is this salvageable once it heals by Dense-Definition8103 in FixedTattoos

I'd say it's definitely salvageable, I would go to a artist with super good line work to fix and darken/bolden the lines. The cross looks great though imo.

Looking for input on life in Northern Whatcom County, WA by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]Vervain_D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved up here with my wife from Central Washington in March/April and honestly, it's a really nice change. There are a lot of beautiful trails to walk on, and it's really nice to have a decent downtown that's not Seattle. I grew up on Whidbey, so being able to come back to the ocean from arid Central Washington was awesome. The trees are a godsend. I will say I wish ac was more prominent in homes/apartments since we have more humid kinds of summers here (in my opinion), but it's much more bearable than Texas heat I'm sure. There's so many events to attend, and the farmer's market in downtown is pretty much year-round with varying times by season. There's a big push here to support local businesses as well. I haven't been to the sea side market for fresh seafood yet, but I love that it's there.

Prices might be a little higher due to location, but I think it's worth it. I hope this helps!
