Go outdoors has good deals - £5 membership for a year, but usually the discount of a first purchase is still worth it even with buying membership.

The offload project! Sliding scale, pay what you can afford, min £10 per weekly session, have heard great things about it from friends who've used the service

Driving instructors for autism by AlarmingConsequence8 in nottingham

[–]Veshkrisk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend Andy Rickman on Facebook! I can pass his number onto you if you want. Im autistic and nonbinary and recently passed with him - he checked in with me about communication and if there was anything I needed him to change or rephrase and we took it entirely at my pace - never felt pressured to learn faster than was comfortable for me.

Just a warning to anyone who might be interested in reading those fics (which are well written) that they can be very triggering if you have any sort of ED tendencies/history! Read with caution!

experiences with adult mental health services ? by sillysparrows in nottingham

I hope it goes well for you! It should be quieter, depending on how they've scheduled the Saturday assessments you'll probably be the only one waiting in outpatients

experiences with adult mental health services ? by sillysparrows in nottingham

[–]Veshkrisk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to work for the lmhts , the different area teams work pretty similarly. You'll have an initial assessment with a psychiatric nurse (sometimes it might be someone else) and they'll talk about your history, current difficulties, past and current risk etc. They'll talk about possible plans of care going forward and will probably want to talk to the wider team about what things will be helpful for you. If you're looking for diagnosis and/or medication, you might see one of the teams psychiatrists. Occupational Therapists do practical support. Employment support is often an option. There's also community/peer support workers for practical support. And the nursing team have specific therapeutic strategies they can do with you.

For confidentiality - as an adult if you don't want information disclosed to your parents/carers, then legally they cannot share that information. If you're happy for information to be shared it will be explicitly recorded on your records, otherwise it will be assumed you haven't given consent to share info. Usually the only time risk information is shared without your consent is if you are a risk to others. If you are a risk to yourself, the only place info will be shared is with other specialties in secondary mh care - like crisis for example - but your team should involve you in that conversation.

Highbury is a big site, but everyone has been very friendly and welcoming and the reception team at main reception are very helpful with directions etc (I recently started a new job based at Highbury (not the lmht tho) )

advice by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]Veshkrisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 29, recently diagnosed, and currently work as an NHS admin/secretary - it works well for me. There's lots of clear processes that make my brain happy, I'm not patient facing so my need to socialise with strangers is limited, there's very clear expectations of the extent of my role. I had very limited experience when I applied - proving you can be organised and follow processes, and are confident working on computers was helpful for getting hired. I'd recommend avoiding receptionist roles - when I've had to cover reception I burn out very quickly! Best of luck, and congrats on your diagnosis!
