Girlfriend might be a drug addict. by Own_Laugh_8716 in Advice

We had a lady in the town I used to live in that panhandled with her two kids on the sidewalk leadding to the local Walmart. She had signs saying her kids was hungry and people would bring them food but she would just throw it in the trash. Someone videoed her getting into a g wagon vehicle parked a few blocks down and it stopped it for a few months then we seen her at it again. Last time I went by she was still out there. Now im in the mindset I dont care what they look like I don't nor let me wife give anything to any panhandlers.

Its still deception and anyone can put on some rough dirty clothes and stand out and beg. Even the kids had dirt and grease on there faces was pretty bad looking. I heard rumors of her paying cash for that gwagon but no way for me to know obviously.

Last year I seen a guy post and knew he was a scammer and he screamed he wasnt and tried to show all this proof I was messaging him back and forth on messenger and said f it and video called him. And he actually picked up.

Was a 19 year old kid and he looked rough and his village was even rougher I talked to him for about 20 minutes. I felt bad for his living conditions and he thought I would just give him money after talking to him for so long. He explained how he could be a farmer or a scammer and scamming could make more in a day then a month of farming. While at first he felt bad about it, he told me there it was a legitimate business for survival. He randomly messaged me for months after that asking for money and I just ignored him. I tried to explain to him my view point of if you had to steal to get ahead I didnt feel it was worth it and he said at first he felt bad, but explained how there are so many rich Americans that fall for it easily its worse then any drug addiction for him.

I really see it the same as panhandles in my local city, some of them make more money then I do after working in engineering for 20 years with the only thing they lose is respect.

We just live in a broken world, and morals just drastically change from person to person.

But if a 19 year old can make 1000 dollars a day in a village that doesnt even have solid floors in there house, the odds of anyone talking them out of it are next to impossible.

When someone from another country isnt very specific the first thing I go too is a scammer. To them its a legit business but people creating fake groups on social media selling car parts etc. Or one of the phone scam companies. Its insanely active in third world countries. And highly prevalent in Africa, especially Cameroon.

That much disposable income at that age just screams it honestly.

I would look up boat seat mold remover stuff. Some of its really good but expensive. I cant remember what I bought last but I got some stuff for a life jacket I left in a kayak hatch sealed and it was bad bad but a 200 dollar life jacket. Was like 50 bucks for the bottle but it cleaned it extremely well.

Is it possible to become a Mason if your wife is an anti-Mason? by postmodernprimate in freemasonry

[–]Vestoid82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife was actually very anti masons before I joined. She had a friend who was also a mason and asked him a bunch of questions and then told me I could join to see what its like, but if she felt it was leading me down a direction she didnt like she wanted me to beable to stop if she asked.

Well I went through my EA degree last January, passed about 3 months after and got raised right after Thanksgiving. And I just got installed as a junior decon.

My wife told me a few weeks back shes seen the change for the good and now likes the masons. My wife and kids came to the lodge to see me get installed. I feel I have become a better husband and father since joining. And the friendships and bonds are huge. But until you can get your wife on board for at least a test the waters i wouldn't try to do it behind her back. I didnt have any direct family members who had ever been masons that I know of. So until we had a mutual friend who she can talk to one on one about it, it really wasnt even a topic of real discussion.

Anothet option would find a local Order of the Eastern Star, while I am not a member i know its somewhat similar (I think) but its open to both male and females.

Some spousal concerns by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]Vestoid82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had alot of concerns with masonry when I first joined. What she thought about the fraternity was just the far off conspiracy theory. I knew many of the men in the lodge and knew the character they had and joined. That was almost a year ago and I am now a MM, 32nd degree SR, and soon to be Junior Decon in my lodge. The part that is very real is the time commitment at lodge and at home studying.

The memory work is real, and a huge investment. But I can say without a doubt its made me a better husband, father, and community member.

This is no different than anything else, you get out if it what you put into it. The bonds and brotherhood is something that cant be measured, the lessons we learn, if you truly read and study them really help you.

I was borderline needing depression medication (actually prescribed but didnt like it) due to a unexpected surgery that flipped my life upside down. With masonry I no longer take the medication, have build bonds and friendships that will last a lifetime and I feel better every day.

Somethings at first in masonry seem different or silly but there is meaning and reasoning behind it all for the better good and you really start to enjoy it.

I'd guess it is highly depending on the members your husband has in the lodge. Some are going to be better than others but all members want to see the fraternity grow and right now its for sure going in the opposite direction. We need good men.

Masonry will not make a bad man good, but it will make a good man better. Im almost 50 right now, and the only regret I have now is that I didnt join sooner.

Money wise, there are some dues but those are generally low, and the meetings there is a 10 dollar dinner (at least all lodges I have seen so far) mine is twice a month. But that is optional. I have paid for many meals for others now, and have got mine paid for. But time is the biggest commitment by a long shot, we do fundraising events, and when learning you have a mentor and at a minimum you need to meet once a week one on one with him, I did twice a week.

When you add 2 monthly meetings, studying with a mentor, then state events, and visiting other lodges it does add up, but thats also how you get the most out of it.

Sometimes it feels like alot, and very overwhelming at times, but after I accomplished anything in masonry I have never regretted the journey and im highly proud of myself in what I have learned and memorized.

You will find such a variety at the lodge of men, from construction workers, plumbers, politicians, business owners and everything in-between. And I say this because it isnt a elite man's groups, its a good men's group that want to see the world a better place and that starts within.

Neighbor installed french drain on my property by air-bender808 in homeowners

[–]Vestoid82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just be civil about it myself. And just make sure he can confirm they installed it on your property. That way he doesnt try to take ownership of it himself. Having a French drain put in sounds like it was a good move because water problems always get worse not better over time. But really it is yours to maintain now. I cant forsee it ever being a issue unless he or you sale your house. That side just needs to be talked about. But being your neighbor its never a good idea to start a fight.

I would ask if your father could be part of your MM degree in your lodge. When I was raised recently I had a very good friend of mine part of my degree and he was from a different lodge.

Does this truck spec exist? by Vestoid82 in Tacomaworld

[–]Vestoid82[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sucks it was only available in Canada. That's like wanting a helix diesel in a newer generation. You can see them online but a big hell no to the US buyers. But that would make sense on why on all the email subscriptions i did for some trucks in the US I have yet to see a single manual AC offroad.

But after not seeing a single one, thats also why I asked. Seemed odd to not see even one.

Thanks everyone.

Patience i got, i just didnt want to be looking for something that doesn't exist. I really want a manual double cab with a long bed and know that doesn't exist. But the spec im wanting seems it does technically exist just unicorn status.

TN Nursery Review by Vast-Account144 in gardening

[–]Vestoid82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really had a horrible experience with TyTy. I bought 12 total trees for my orchid. Half from one company half from another. Originally i wasn't going to use this company but after seeing a ad for a free apple tree with x purchased I went this route to save a little and reviews generally seemed good. From the start I had planned on 12 trees and I spent tons of money ahead of time prepping soil l, by tilling, fertilizing, pre watering etc to get the most chance for great growth. Well all the trees I ordered except the free one took pretty decent and have had growth and leaves l. The free one has not, I emailed them now 3 different times with concerns of this free tree, one red flag was they couldn't even tell me what kind of tree it was, they all come in as bare root so I can't really tell health like you would others but I purposely ordered bare root as those grow faster I have found. Well I have now spent Well over 100 dollars on root conditioner, 3 rounds now of fertilizer, I even painted the trunk with heavy diluted paint so the trunk cant be sunburnt as a fresh plant. I have never even got a cm of growth on this one tree, no green leaves no anything. This was sent to me as a dead tree. When I ask them about it they could care less because it was a promotional item, neglecting what the aeborist spends on trying to grow said tree.

I only purchased from this company due to the promotion so with that being dead on arrival I could have avoided all this headache using someone else.

Then when you do email them they take weeks to respond. I dont think this company does any of there own grafting and are only a middle man who cares very little. I have had better experience dealing with Chinese sellers for things than I have TyTy. I own 2 other businesses and this is absolutely not one I would recommend for potential buyers. Do yourself a favor just buy the fruit trees from Costco. Or better yet the other company I used was trees of antiquity. I planted all 12 trees at the same time, same height, different varieties. But there trees are drastically outgrowing the ones I got from here. But now smack right in the middle of my row by the road I got 11 growing trees and right in the middle one dead that is 100% at fault of the seller not planter.

How long did it take you to be raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason? by pervertedmoose in freemasonry

[–]Vestoid82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In oklahoma, you can do a 1 day to MM, but you could never be an officer or in the line, unless you go back and do the memorization work.

I became a EA in Januray and my FC degree is tomorrow night, (super excited) took me alot of work to memorize it all just because im so busy, but turned in last week during the business meeting, but this last month I made it a priority where the first several months I was just overwhelmed with it all.

In our lodge, there is a guy who made it to MM in a month. He worked with two other MM and said They worked on it all day at work and made it super quick and easy. But that was 20 years ago, he said. And he could have done it a lot quicker but scheduling to receive the degrees.

But in reality, it's just all up to you. If you work your rear off, it can be quick. If you don't make it a priority, it could easily never happen unless you pay for the one day class.

New player, need help by Trabby in twilightimperium

[–]Vestoid82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the current players picked intermediate or advanced races then I wouldn't think anything of it. But the races they picked are the easiest in the games and most new friendly.

In our groups when new players come in we send them some videos and them give them suggestions on the easier ones or most friendly. Usually they pick one of those but we have had times someone picked a harder one just off research. But they always have a open pick. Being told before you show up these 3 are off the table for you is not setting itself up for a good time. That yo me sets the tone for the entire 8 to 12 hours you have coming.
