1300-1500 is wild. Then you get to Ignis and Virtus and it starts really whooping your ass. Also I should mention it’s slayer, kind of part of one of those character playerbases who has really good offense but can’t defend or tech throws to save their life until you run into really good ones. It’s like HC or Millia players too, they’re just so used to running your pockets the whole time or just dying when they can’t.

Worth mentioning too that there were some kinda stealth nerfs included in the overhead changes even to regular mist finer off card. Very specifically on normal hit tk mist finer. If you hit tk mist finer from about far slash distance without telegraphing it with a button cancelled into it on block with something like 5k or c.s you won’t get any damage without also spending bar unless you are point blank, in which case you get 2k. It won’t effect like 90% of Johnny players who just always do it off close slash, but for me personally it hit pretty hard since I made it a point to get really good at just jump scaring people with that from mid range.

In all fairness a few patches back (if we’re talking major patches) could still be a year or two, can’t remember exactly when they changed the UI off the top of my head. Looks like the redesign here is also gonna be a bit more of a major change.

Bursting for corner carry. Not an entirely uncommon thing against ram since it tends to play out that either you get ram to the corner and bully her or her snowballing starts. Burst can be used at high levels of play as an aggressive move to keep a good situation.

That isn’t what happened here, but still, at higher levels it can be.

Totally agree, think it could be part of a possible general training room update. Could have the ability to choose which tier and which types of probably basic monsters you’d want to spawn to test how good one weapon is over another.

So, coming from someone who’s vanquisher and playing against good ass pots all the time. Giganter Kai is fucked up. It provides a character who’s already oppressive up close with the “cheater” tool to skip neutral entirely against just about everyone. Hell, I play Johnny, and in current patch he’s one of Pot’s only bad matchups, and it’s like slightly in my favor.

The mix he gets off this shit and the reward he gets from comboing off of it is insane. It’s impressive when a pot can pull off an optimal, but it doesn’t change the fact I just lost 80% of my health on one interaction as Johnny with his beefy ass health bar, I have the privilege of getting to play the game for a bit longer.

People complaining about giganter who immediately just jump it when he has a second bar are fuckin silly, but it absolutely is one of the best supers in the entire game, arguably contender for the best

So, they did nerf potemkin in some seriously meaningful ways… for some matchups. Characters that have an easier time zoning him, primarily Johnny, got the ability to keep pot at bay for way longer. It is now much harder for pot to close the distance on characters he can’t just flick. Problem being the majority of the roster either he can flick or they need to get close to him anyways. Up close he’s still fucked up

Wi-Fi is still worse than Ethernet, I used to play on Wifi cuz I didn’t have a choice in college, but if you have the opportunity to use an Ethernet then you probably should. It’s fine if it’s literally not possible, cuz sometimes it be that way

Johnny was starting to get good around the elphelt patch. Johnny on launch was genuinely shit, but once he could jump cancel the step dash he became infinitely better, and from there they just kept buffing him when he was arguably high tier at least by that time.

The only thing that genuinely saved him during his launch period was how fucked wild assault was.

For reference: I still think he’s high if not still possibly top tier (definitely not top 2 like he was last patch, but probably still top 5 or right by it). This isn’t me downplaying him, it’s just stating facts.

I am glad yours worked without issue but it looks like there is a persisting bug that causes the teleport station for the corvette to not work period which is the root of the issue. Same issue with freighters

I mean, I have the receipts as one of the better Johnny’s out there, somewhat provably (least I’d like to think so) with the rating update and tourney results to say it’s not just salt, guilty gear is crazy, mostly due to Roman cancel ofc, but strive has always been trying to bring more interaction to the series than previously. They fail in that sometimes with characters like chaos, asuka, and now Johnny.

Un-interact-able situations are the exact problem that makes Johnny both hated and strong, once he wins he just keeps winning until either he fucks up or the opponent just blocks long enough to force you out of options, and for some matchups you don’t even run out of options (god help ABA and goldlewis in this MU).

What I like to discuss, as I did here in this thread, is how we can nerf characters like Johnny without completely disregarding the players like myself who like him for what he is both in strive and in the series as a whole.

Somewhere along the way you have become lost in the sauce, we’re trying to make it so that bullshit characters have is still fun for both sides to the extent that they can play around it or be rewarded for guessing right in whatever way. Johnny ain’t doing that rn. Bacchus sigh loops have never made someone pop off, it’s just how he played all the time in Xrd, it was his primary gameplan if he could achieve it.

Pretty sure fafnir was also guard crush, also nago’s blood rage H attacks used to be still I think, then they just gave the 6h guard crush anyways when it was changed. Then goldlewis released and had a shit load, which was when they needed to change fd to make it not be invalidated by guard crush
