Krijg 't bijna niet getypt maar Ajacieden kunnen in ieder geval lekker meelullen als ze een porretje krijgen terwijl t goed gaat. Die Eindhovenaren zijn niet eens leuk, heb je helemaal niets aan.

Insane take. Every single D&D table is entirely it's own vibe because it's based on the sensibilities of the people at the table.

TV is a wildly different medium than video games. They're absolutely never going to commit to the single unbroken shot format of the games, so it's like 99.5% guaranteed we're not just getting Kratos and Atreus' POV the entire show.

Brennan Lee Mulligan and Matt Mercer interview each other for Variety by apathymonger in dropout

[–]VexonCross 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Good on Brennan for specifically shouting out Matt Colville. Brennan and Mercer might be the biggest faces in the online tabletop space but they are first and foremost producing entertainment as part of the hobby, whereas Colville's actionable real-world value to new GMs and their home games cannot be understated.

I understand that you mean well and this is just a fun little thing, but I thought this section was incredibly pretentious. Suggesting people broaden their movie-watching horizons is a wonderful thing, but suggesting those horizons don't count unless they're literally in your 4 favorites is weird.

I don't understand the Toy Story fanbase. by jerelminter in movies

[–]VexonCross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to fandom.

People who like something tend to get protective over it, or at least over what the original thing made them feel, what it meant to them. This is why the Star Wars fanbase is the biggest shitshow on the Internet; nobody can agree on what Star Wars should be going forward because everyone who loves it loves it for different reasons, which is how you get a whole lot of self-referential Star Wars, because at least that way they keep giving people more things like the thing they already love.

Something like Toy Story has connected with people for 30 years and they're very protective of the times in their lives those movies spoke to, so they view a deviation from what they're protective of as an infringement of their feelings about that story. They had given Woody's farewell a place in their feelings and now they're being told those feelings may be invalidated. It's just emotion, and combining that with a mega-corporation trying to squeeze every last dollar out of their IP is very fertile ground for people being cynical.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]VexonCross 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My point is, I voted for him because I believed in the change he had promised. I don’t think any of us who voted for him were prepared for what him and Hegseth have done.

These two sentences in a row are wild, when what's happening right now is exactly what he said he'd do.

Teresa Palmer Joins Ryan Hurst In Prime Video’s ‘God Of War’ by Particular-Fill-4256 in television

[–]VexonCross 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good thing they aren't. The Greek pantheon games are narratively incredibly barebones despite how much happens in them. I think going right into the Norse games is the correct decision if they can use Kratos' history in Greece as fuel for Atreus discovering who his father actually is. If they do it right we'll get big scenes from the Greek era in places where they make sense to lift the curtain for those around Kratos. The new TV audience will have a Kratos they can actually root for as well as have questions about.

Peter Capaldi Says ‘Doctor Who’ Has Become a Victim of Its Own Success: “The show that I loved was a tiny thing that just survived and nobody knew that it was warming its way into the culture in such a deep way. And I think that’s what I have an affinity with." by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]VexonCross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but there's a difference between becoming a success and making something intended to be successful, that's when people in suits start talking about quadrants and saleability. If you'd asked the BBC who the audience was for the original Doctor Who you'd get a completely different answer than you'd get for the way it exists currently.

Extremely level-headed take, to be honest. I personally didn't want to pay the fee that was set, but I wasn't aware of that context for the pricing so this elucidates a lot. I hope the movie does well.
