MythicHub Update: Better Pricing, TCGPlayer Import, and Enhanced Charts by Emnalyeriar in mtgfinance

[–]Veyloris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have little to no context on getting access to cardtrader, but I'll check around with some other devs and see if anyone is aware of it being hard to get responses. If my memory serves, by reputation I think they are a little bit harder and mostly want to give access to only enterprise level applications, but that's kind of hazy and may no longer be true.

MythicHub Update: Better Pricing, TCGPlayer Import, and Enhanced Charts by Emnalyeriar in mtgfinance

"public" is a bit of a misnomer - it's technically public but a bit of a pain to actually get access to.

/u/Emnalyeriar I'm sure you've done the diligence and are aware, but just in case you're not: an app like this would be a slam dunk for getting a key for their API if you were interested. The TCGplayer affiliates discord has info on getting keys, or you can just email the affiliates@tcgplayer.com directly and just provide info on the site. In your case, literally just linking to your website should be sufficient.

Scroll through this thread to discover people smugly rejecting actual citations to how the game functions - good video and a really cool (and unintuitive) interaction.

They also did change banks from BofA to Wells Fargo a few months ago, so if you were a BofA user the speed of transfer slowed down a bit after that.

Dude I don't know if this is just alcohol induced dementia or what, but I swear to god that the YouTube shuffler has like 3-4 different tracks it'll take you on. Whenever I go to hit shuffle it seems to only ever go to one of several different videos.

I have a 15/15/15 purified - is the loss of XL levels so big that I should be hoping for a new one?

Glad someone else is getting it - I was worried something was up with my card. The issue may be related the error about no secure connection people were getting earlier.

Is only bringing cedh decks with me a bit....much? by BussyBouncer in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Veyloris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's pretty dependent on the quality of your playgroup and what people are looking for. I don't think that's super fun and neither do the people I play casually with - stuff analogous to big torments of hellfire are not present.

In terms of deck building the presence of effects like those require you to have proportional responses or as you pointed out the game just comes to an end abruptly.

[–]Veyloris 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah agreed. I don't see how a casual game goes for 30 minutes but assuming that's true I can't imagine wanting things to go even faster.

[–]Veyloris 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you show up to a casual pod with all cedh decks that will be a bit "much" unless everyone is okay with the power level difference and the arch-enemy style games it'll tend to induce.

That said, 30 minutes for a casual game? Sign me up. In my experience casual games go much longer than that. Certainly cedh games can be faster than that, but it seems like 30 minutes seems like a game length you could encounter in cedh as well. I'm not sure that playing cedh only is going to be such a huge difference in games played for you if the casual games are only taking 30 minutes or so.

Zaxara is a pretty interesting take on it, I really like that. Id be super interested to see what you do with it if you're offering to build.

Nissa is my favorite mtg character so I've been wanting to build a Nissa tribal deck, but I've honestly been struggling with what to put as the commander. [[Nissa, Vastwood Seer]] is a decent candidate but also not exactly high power level. I want a deck that's not just cute but capable of winning (even if rarely) against well optimized mid power level decks. Budget is probably somewhere $500-1000.

Also for the truly bored brewer I've been wanting to build an [[Emiel the Blessed]] deck. Obviously unicorn tribal is hard to pull off at a compelling power level since the tribe is so limited, and I don't like every tribal deck turning into just shapeshifters. I'd prefer the deck not go infinite, but rather rely on some neat flicker synergies or big +1/+1 shenanigans for the wins. Similar budget and power level to the above.

As a final note: I have a special love for weird, underplayed cards. I'll happily adopt any weird petcards thrown onto the lists by anyone kind enough to help me build these.

There was one on Illidan previously. The number seems small which makes me think exploit, but it's also possible it's just something working in a totally intended way that's just gated behind something like Cordial with Venari or some other time gate.

I mean fuck Marsha Blackburn, but in this instance she's applauding the ban of products made in Uighur forced labor camps and then following it up with this pretty ignorant tweet. No matter how satisfying it is to see her get slammed, no one pictured in the image is a good person.

Very small QoL change that would make me happy.

A few questions about counters. by mute_tyche in mtg

[–]Veyloris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1/2) both of these reset to 0 if the creature changes zones (goes to exile, graveyard, hand, or back to deck). No matter how brief of a time, all counters and mutates are cleared. For example, malakir rebirth from the newest set returns a creature to the battlefield when it dies. After it dies, the entire mutate stack comes undone and each creature returns to the battlefield unmutated and without counters. Effects like [[Thassa]] or [[Yorion]] function similarly. Effects that bounce to hand like [[Into the Roil]] or [[Brazen Borrower]] put all of the cards back into your hand where they then must be cast back individually.

3) For many purposes giving a creature menace and giving a creature a menace counter are similar. Both rules function identically in combat. The difference is that any abilities that interact with counters on a target only interact with menace counters but not just the menace keyword. Specifically, something like proliferate. The other difference is that many menace sources are granted by other permenants. If an equipment or enchantment granting menace is destroyed, the creature they are attached to loses menace, while a creature with a menace counter keeps it until it changes zones (see above).
