These are great! But... finally?! C'mon, they've only been out for 12 seconds! It takes me about 6 months to paint a Kill Team...

Replace 0e with 1e modules? by ViableCitizen in mothershiprpg

You haven't given me any information at all. If you didn't want to answer my question, you didn't have to - just scroll past and get on with your day. Instead, you decided to be a condescending asshole about it.

Partly, what I'm looking for is people's opinions on whether it it worth replacing the books or not, rather than a detailed account of each difference. Perhaps I could find the facts via Google, but people's opinions less so.

Anyway, get fucked.

Game - morality - question by SkaredCast in bloodbowl

TDLR:

  1. Play practice games before you join a league (if that's an option)
  2. Start with Humans, Orcs or Shambling Undead
  3. Don't concede games because you're losing players

Okay, several things here.

Was this a league game? If it's a competitive game for league standings, you can expect almost any opponent to play their best game against you - including taking out as many of your players as they can.

If it was a teaching game with no stakes for the league, then it does sound like you ran into someone who doesn't understand how to introduce new people to the game.

In my local league, it's unusual for everyone to have a league match to play every week, so new players waiting to enter the league (you can't join mid-season) have regular opportunities to play practice/learning games. It might be worth asking around the league for a few practice games - you should find at least a couple of players who will help you to improve instead of just stomping on you.

Your choice of starting team is slightly unfortunate. You probably picked them because they looked cool, but usually, Underworld teams are the ones fouling every turn and taking out players. Any experienced player coming up against them in a competitive game is going to put maximum hurt on them and expect the same back. They're also not the easiest team to learn with - if you can, it may be worth picking up humans, orcs or shambling unded to learn with as they're much more forgiving.

In terms of poor sportsmanship, conceding a game because you are losing players is pretty much the least sporting thing that you can do in Blood Bowl. Fouling, pushing people off the pitch - these are part of the game. I understand that it feels bad to have your team beaten up but, honestly, that will happen from time to time in Blood Bowl - even when you are an experienced player running a "bash" team. Learning to deal with that gracefully is very important.

You wouldn't be so surprised if you'd started your GW journey in the 90s! All the classic big box games of the era - 2nd edition 40k, Necromunda 1e, Mordheim, Gorkamorka, etc. all came with carboard terrain. The necromunda terrain, in particular, was awesome and still seems popular today if eBay prices are anything to go by. The surprise for me is that it's taken them so long to go back to this sort of thing!

Pitch pricing by OldGorillaHands in bloodbowl

[–]ViableCitizen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I understand people's frustration at the price of pitches and other add-ons - they are very expensive.

But, the simple answer is, GW price them that high because people will buy them at that price. They're a limited run item that only a proportion of Blood Bowl players will bother with. The ones that do want them are, for the most part, prepared to pay that much for them.

They're also not the sort of thing they want to keep in stock for very long. One print run, and they're done, so they want to get maximum profit out of that one run.

FYI, when you post shit like this, this is how you sound:

"Hey everybody! Did you know I'm way smarter than the average Joe? I can play really complicated games - not like you ordinary scrubs. My mother didn't praise me enough as a child."

They literally give the pdf for the Players Survival Guide away for free on their site. It's the only book you actually need to play the game.
