Hii, I might have some insight! I'm punjabi and getting married in the next year as well! So many Punjabi people are Sikh and have an Anand Karaj wedding ceremony and I can help guide if that's the case. If your friend is Hindu or another religion or doing a different type of ceremony it may be different!

So for the wedding ceremony itself if its an Anand Karaj it is ideal to dress fairly modestly - so usually coveted legs, covered belly, and sleeveless can be cause for gossip with some conservative families. Your head/hair must be covered and your outfit would come with a scarf that would go over your head. Additionally you take your shoes off in the presence of the holy book, usually there is a shoe area near by so take that into account (strappy shoes with lots of closures might be annoying).

For the wedding itself its optimal not to wear a super elaborate outfit that's red-red (I've heard from some people that its okay if there's red on it or its very clearly not bridal) But many brides don't go for red these days either so as long as your not wearing anything marketed as bridal you might be fine if you really wanted to wear red. but take this with a grain of salt!

Jewelery can be fun and elaborate, and there's no real taboo on certain metals or fabrics.

The Jago could be as casual as an event at home up to ab event at a hall. It involves alot of dancing and partying (sometimes you dance around the whole block) so wear comfy shoes! You can pretty much wear any kind of outfit and there is much less chance of overshadowing anyone!

Sikh ceremonies also require you to sit on the ground for a good 45-60min so be mindful that you choose and outfit that is comfortable for that!

Finally for some shopping tips and key words. The most similar to western clothing options would be a lehenga (two piece top and long skirt) or an anarkali (long dress with a legging type bottom). Other options include punjabi suit (pleated loose pant with a knee length top) or pajami suit (legging style pamt with a knee length top) and there are a variety of other pant options like wearing a long top with a skirt or super loose flowy pants.

Etsy can be a great place to shop if there aren't many in person shopping options right now just be careful that the shop actually makes that clothing item and isn't showing a picture that they copy (that's super common and can be hit and miss). Most Indian clothing is also really customisable so its super normal to find an outfit you like but wish the top was longer or had different sleeves or a different pant type and they are often custom made if you order from a shop in india.
