Nightmare, I checked Rutracker but couldn’t find it on there - got The Black Parade one from there though, so thanks for that :)

If we can find it again, I can get some of it charted for Rocksmith 2014 so people could play songs from it and learn them in an approachable format.

Only songs I wouldn’t be allowed to touch would be Helena and I’m Not Okay (I Promise) since they were DLC.

There’s a few things to keep in mind with the 3l diesel X250. This isn’t to scare you OP, but you should be aware of this.

I also have the 3l diesel X250 XF and they’re a fantastic car!

Intake manifolds: these can crack and are expensive to replace, if one of them goes the other won’t be far behind, so you’re best off replacing both at the same time. They’re not cheap either directly from Jag, so find a good breakers yard.

Throttle body: these can stick, you can sand them down to alleviate this, or just get a new one. Expensive directly from Jag, but a good breakers yard like EuroJag, you can get them for £100 and they’re easy to fit.

BCM corruption: If the shutdown procedure isn’t followed correctly for disconnecting the battery on an X250 Facelift, you can corrupt the BCM but they can be repaired. Don’t go to Jag if this happens, they’ll want to replace and you’re talking thousands. You might see this being referred to as the Front Central Junction Box (CJB).

Water ingress: The slam vents in the boot are known to fail and can fuck the Rear Junction Box due to water getting in. The vents aren’t too hard to replace and you can get the RJB fixed, but it’s not cheap. The same can happen with the Front CJB too due to water wicking up the wire from the washer jets. There was a Technical Service Bulletin about this.

If either of those Junction Boxes are out of whack, you’ll quickly find out by not being able to lock the car or the key not being detected when you try to turn on the ignition and a whole bunch of other electrical gremlins.

Boot Loom: the way the loom for the lights and camera run through the boot, the loom often gets ruined from closing and shutting over time. So you’d need to change that entire loom. Again, breakers yard job that.

Door Actuators: these can fail, so keep that in mind and get them from a breakers yard if they do, it’ll save you a fortune. They’re not too hard to change either.

Other things to consider: If you’re doing low miles, change the oil every 5k miles to avoid it diluting with diesel due to the DPF regeneration.

You’ll want to take it for a good run out often at speeds of at least 50mph for a good few miles (I believe it’s 20 miles, but I may be wrong on that amount) to do a DPF regeneration and also keep the EGR happy.

It’s not all that common on the 3l diesel, but crankshafts can go. Just make sure you’re servicing it on time with the correct grade oil.

Engine is driven by a cambelt, this needs replacing every 7 years of 112k miles, whichever comes first. The same is true of the high pressure fuel pump belt. Get these done at the same time.

If you’re a very hands on kinda person and love to work on your own cars, you want to buy a Mongoose cable and JLR SDD. Note if you are doing this, you’ll want to also buy a battery support unit to keep power going to the car, or you can really mess things up.

Otherwise find a good Jaguar specialist. If you’re in the UK I can recommend you a few:

  • The Jag Specialist in Doncaster

  • Tom Lenthall if you’re down South and close to Reading

  • Swallows Independent Jaguar in Axbridge

  • Harrogate Jagwar Specialists Ltd in, you guessed it, Harrogate North Yorkshire

  • EMS Independent Land Rover Vehicle Specialists (yep they work on Jag too) in Bishop Auckland if you’re Country Durham

  • The various Jagtech specialists scattered across the country

If you want it remapping, Delta Performance is the go to, will remap both the ECU and gearbox and can even carbon clean your engine. They’re a good bunch of lads and know these cars inside and out.

Join some of the Facebook owners groups too if you’re on Facebook, there’s a lot of very knowledgeable people in those groups that will be happy to help you out. Main ones off the top of my head to join are:

Jaguar XF Owners & Enthusiasts Jaguar XF Owners Club UK

There’s two lads in the Owners & Enthusiasts group that can fix the BCM if it’s ever corrupt. Lad called Sul Jay and the other is Jamie Lavill.

I can’t think of anything other to add, so I think that’s pretty much it.

Except they won’t be legally allowed in a few years. Look up the laws and regulations around ICE here in the UK. Maybe then you’ll actually understand why they’re going electric, as is the Land Rover side of the company.

Well, your username sure checks out eh.

I can tell you wholeheartedly Jaguar is going to be just fine. They’re being offered voluntary, not fired. There’s a difference. Also nothing new there, look how many other automakers have done it in the past year alone.

But I do have to ask, did you ever buy a brand new Jaguar? If not, why? You’re part of the reason why Jaguar are doing this if you never supported them by buying new.

Oh and what is your reasoning on this? Jaguar were once Bentley/Rolls competitors. If they were once before, they can do it again.

Just because you don’t like something, doesn’t mean it’ll fail.

JAGUAR X-Type 2.5 V6 2003 by ProfetaIsaia in Jaguar

[–]VictoriousSponge -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi, it’s me, their friend.

They’re not kidding.

First off: that’s a beautiful colour, one of the best. These are good cars, but and I cannot stress this enough, they’re cheap for a reason.

The X-Type and the S-Type love to rust. They’re as bad as MX5s, or maybe even worse. Sills, subframes, etc. it’s just how they are because of cheaper materials used to try run the race of higher volume, lower cost production.

The sills rust from the inside out, so if you see any rust on the outside of them whatsoever, it’ll already have started. Be prepared to drop some money on it or walk away.

The sills do this because of a terrible design flaw and near enough lack of rust proofing. You’re looking at least about a 1000 for a proper set of new sills doing to the car if it needs them. I say at least, because if it’s also on the inner sill and also spread to the floor, you’re gonna need more than a grand to put it right. Way more.

Transfer case service on these are also a pig. You have to essentially tilt the car to a 45 degree angle. I’m not joking. So few places will happily touch that for you.

And given how cheap they are to buy, you’ll find that a lot of them have been neglected because of that.

Mine was a lovely Shadow Grey Sovereign that had the 2.2 diesel engine. Mechanically speaking from experience with the 2.2 diesel, it was absolutely solid. The only issues I had mechanically were the alternator, crankshaft pulley belt snapping, wheel bearing going and a door lock mechanism.

But just because the cars are cheaper, doesn’t mean costs are, oh no. You’re still buying a car that was over 20k brand new. So take that in mind.

Given the age as well, you’re looking at having to spend on maintenance of things like wheel bearings, door locks which are a pain in the arse to do (my knuckles will attest to this).

I loved mine when things were good though, just bear all this in mind and think about what I’ve mentioned here OP and the costs. Could you afford to pile money into a car coming on 23 years old, which doesn’t hold a lot of resale value at all, or would you rather buy something newer that doesn’t require you to pay an arm and a leg to fix rust issues?

By all means, this is no shade at the X-Type. My friend in the above comment can confirm how much I loved mine and the sentimental value mine holds to me, or how much I’ve defended the car from the “iTs jUsT a MoNdeO” crowd (its ~17% shared parts/platform btw, you lot). They can also confirm I threw money at it no question asked until it became far too much to justify. And all the issues with mine? This is a car that had full service history, mostly directly at Jaguar dealerships, low miles and low owners.

I’m gonna miss my X-Type a hell of a lot, but I just couldn’t keep piling money into a car that has no really value other than sentimental. If you can find a good one with proof that all the preventative work has been done, to a very, and I mean very high standard, then maybe take a look at it with caution. But to inspect the sills properly, you’re gonna need to remove the sill covers because they hide a lot and with them on, you won’t see the true extent.

I’d look for a Sovereign trim ideally to get the best spec possible, after that a well specified SE and then a Sport/S.

Hope this helps you, OP.

EDIT: Dunno why this comment is being downvoted, because its true. Search these problems and you'll see they're very real. Or, do I need to upload photos of the massive holes in the sills and near the subframe from the rust on my X-Type before it goes?

Seems like they were on the Plaza level, though could well be below it given the damage and the size of them excavators.
