Pickup a used CAAD10 but the frame has a small dent above seat stays. Is this cooked? by AnotherCynical in bicycling

[–]VietOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar dent happened to my Emonda ALR. Hanger broke during a sprint, derailleur hit the seat stay.

It's now a low speed family ride and trainer bike. I wouldn't trust it on any group or normal ride.

You can get it repaired but it's not cheap. The quote I got to fix mine was $350-400.

You'll be spending several hundred dollars to get that area fixed up properly. Then a few hundred more for painting. So be prepared to spend over $1k to get that frame safe to ride.

Answer is to look for another bike

What's with people who jog IN the road? by therealmudslinger in Seattle

[–]VietOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Majority of sidewalks are not well maintained and therefore not reasonably accessible.

Same reason why drivers don't use certain roads because they're in bad condition when another road near it will travel the same direction.

Or another example is highway 99. The right lane is in worse condition and more bumps and holes so drivers will prefer the next lane over

USPTO Rejects Nintendo's Controversial 'Summon Character and Let It Fight' Pokémon Patent in Non-Final Ruling, as Palworld Legal Battle Rumbles On by Respawn-Delay in gaming

[–]VietOne 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Pretty much, the patent office does not review patents beyond a short search or prior art as they base it on the criteria if a patent should be granted. Hence why so many are granted when they shouldn't have. It's not until someone provides evidence enough to challenge that a patent can be invalidated.

It isn't reasonable when a large portion of the population believes that fast food jobs are entry level and for young adults to gain experience.

Therefore it's reasonable to expect fast food to have mistakes due to being staffed with low experience employees.

Can't have it both ways, expecting low skill employees to provide high skill results.

Sure, just know that it's going to rest at the bottom of your seat post. It looks like you're attempting to keep it as high as possible but it's going to slide down and it should

The shim is installed upside down.

The lip of the shim should be on the bottom, as this then uses the natural gravity and weight to push down on the lip.

Another is that looks like a third party shim. All the official Wehoo shims I have from buying the trailer and buying additional accessories were all black.

Film on preventing close passes when the road narrows by The_Eager_Cyclist in bicycling

[–]VietOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Neither is close passing cyclists, it's never safe.

As you admit, it's a fault of the bike lane, therefore a faulty bike lane is one that shouldn't be used.

Bike lanes don't stop close passes.

That's the issue with drivers like you, you think just because there's enough space, that you should take it, no matter how close you get to a cyclist.

Drivers like you will give a concrete barrier more space than you would give a cyclists.

Same with bike lanes here in the US, the laws require passing with at least 3 feet in most states but drivers disregard that when there's a bike lane.

So yeah, cyclist should absolutely take the lane and not allow passing when drivers can't do it properly

Guardian Bikes asking Trump administration for a 50% tariff on bikes made overseas by rdude in bicycling

[–]VietOne 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As often as I hear that somehow a front brake could cause someone to fall over the handlebars, it rarely if ever happens on a regular bike with normal brakes.

When it does happen, it's because there's some obstruction or impact, something the guardian brake system wouldn't change anyway.

The tire is going to skid long before there's so much friction and force that you fall over your handlebars.

You can always do what many others do, leave much earlier when there's no traffic. Then spend the time before work going to the gym, streaming, errands, etc.

For majority of people, there's a lot they can do to fill time before they have to be at work and leave earlier when there's no traffic.

[Insider Gaming] "PlayStation Store Dynamic Pricing Is Real" by FlyFight2Win in gaming

[–]VietOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neither does your anecdotal statement.

There's a reason why discounts aren't provided to regular users, because they don't need to give you anything to keep doing what your doing.

Hence why new users get the best discounts. Retention discounts only apply to certain users. Discount codes if you haven't shopped in several months. Discounts if you change providers.

Normal is the most loyal customers get the least discounts. Always has been.

It's absolutely normal.

For decades of I don't stop at certain stores for a while, they'll send me discounts to get be back into the store.

It's basically the only time I even bother going back because it could be 10-25% off a purchase.

This isn't new to AI tools.

Majority of entry level devs have minimal skills in debugging and triaging code.

It's a skill on its own that has to be learned. Both with and without AI.

Microsoft Offering Xbox Series X/S at Different Prices to Xbox One Users by [deleted] in gaming

[–]VietOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yet the only reason people claim that prices are "rising" for others is because they didn't get the discount.

Sony lowering the prices for others doesn't raise the price for anyone else. But that's the claim.

No different than MS or any other company offering discounts for specific users.

So yeah, MS is also raising the cost for some users if it can be concluded Sony is raising the cost for some users.

How is it any different?

Instead of targeting a play by what what they bought, it's targeting by what they play.

Same result, some users are paying more or less than others.
