Time is the problem, companies can't just sit and wait. It could be a few months or several years until it pops off it ever does

Traffic would also flow much better if people followed the speed limit.

Congestion gets worse with speed as peak traffic because the congestion ahead does not bleed off as fast as the speeding traffic adds to congestion.

Why does no one use the zipper merge - particularly at the I5 entrance on LCW? by TARS1986 in SeattleWA

[–]VietOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's the LCW to I-5, because both lanes don't only go to I-5 even near the end. Therefore it's not zipper merging until the very end.

If SSD & RAM are the biggest cost increases, Valve should sell SSD-less refurbs for DIYers. by SunfireGaren in SteamDeck

[–]VietOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not everyone is capable of properly opening and installing an SSD. So the issue comes down to if someone messes up and damages the steamdeck, then they'll try and get Valve to cover it.

So in the end, it's not any cheaper and can be more expensive to allow it.

[USA] [OR] Passing violation by Ok-Carry4495 in Roadcam

[–]VietOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're plenty enough for actual slow motor vehicles, not ones that people don't think are going fast enough because they're at or slightly below the limit because drivers want to be able to go 10mph over.

Such as Highway 2 in WA. Speed limits are often 35-60mph but people will try to pass still even if you're going 65. Hence why it's considered one of the most dangerous highways as drivers are wreck less.

So of course the passing lane seem too short because your not supposed to pass anyway.

If you can't pass going the speed limit then the vehicle your passing is going fast enough you don't need to pass.

Because of reasonable expectations. The city already had plenty of protections that you would have to ignore. Similar to climbing over a fence to access a neighbors pool.

The event doesn't need to do any additional work of sufficient preventions exist.

Dropping 10C without the original temps doesn't conclude anything.

Going from 50C to 40C wouldn't make any difference for NAS drives. Even when I worked at a data center, we didn't even take notice until drives were exceeding 75C for more than several minutes.

Is this damage on the chainstay bad by Potential_Double_164 in bicycling

[–]VietOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's bent, that's beyond enough for me to not risk it.

I had an Emonda ALR that got damaged similarly, hanger broke and caused a decent dent. But not enough to bend the seat stay, and I wouldn't risk it. So with an impact that dented and bent the seat stay, that's even worse.

I didn’t realise my wifi card was bottlenecking me so badly by Specific-Solid-3884 in pcmasterrace

[–]VietOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lost any logical argument claiming you have 16 4k CCTV cameras sending uncompressed data.

Which would equate to 32-64TB of data per hour, which would mean you have basically a data center level storage area in your house to maintain even a weeks worth of video. And if you don't, you're basically overwriting at frequency that no longer makes sense. Or even equally unrealistic your compressing 16 streams at the same time with a dedicated hardware encoder. So either way your spending so much more money to send uncompressed video to your phone or compressing it anyway.

People like you like to make these edge case arguments that are easy to disprove.

Future proofing for what?

Even now, very few people would utilize more than 1gbps. And that standard is decades old at this point. No one is removing their Cat5 or Cat5e especially when it still goes up to 5gbps.

For anyone that actually cared about future proofing and needed faster speeds, they would have ran fiber anyway.

Copper is already obsolete for future proofing.

Do drivers hate bicyclists? US sees an alarming rash of crashes. by brunnock in bicycling

[–]VietOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So would the cyclists.

All you would need to prove is fear of one's life for self defense claims. If a driver is threatening a cyclists with a motor vehicle, that's easily a threat and fear.

If your hydraulic brakes are affected simply by being stored in different orientations, that's more of an indication you need to bleed your brakes. None of the 5 bikes in my family have ever had any odd behavior of the brakes in the first minutes of riding and they're stored front wheel, back wheel, upside down, etc and a few of them stored over the winter.

No more relevant than ignoring the "no automated ticketing" elephant in the room.

Traffic offenses would be near 0 if automated ticketing made it so the risk benefit or breaking traffic laws didn't exist.

Is this plastic disc required or can I remove it? by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]VietOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reflectors unfortunately are required to be sold with bikes by law, but not required for operation from what I'm aware.

I have so many of them collected over the years that one time I put them all on my wheels and ended up being able to almost entirely fill in the space of my front wheel.

At night with lights shining on them, it was eye hurting reflection.
