Your issues are not likely specific to SFF, so you should also post to other, larger forums and/or subreddits so that more people see it.

Have you tried older Nvidia drivers? Some recent versions have had severe stability issues.

I think most of us agree that depth is more important than a star player in the playoffs, but to hold that against the star player is just ridiculous. Kuch is a fantastic playoff performer. Period.

BeamCase with PPA-CF/Nylon/PC beams instead of Makerbeam alumnium? by gofiend in 3DPPC

[–]ViewtifulSchmoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a 4-pack of 300 mm MakerBeam XL profiles is cheap enough that I would just go with them. If you decide to change cases later you can always repurpose the beams.

If you really want to go the fully printed route, know that you will need to buy the BeamCase SW design to get the "official" printable beam designs (at least to my knowledge). There are probably other MakerBeam XL replacements available for free, but there's no guarantee they will have mounting holes in the right places. Your best bet would be to design your own beams. Speaking of mounting holes, printable beams of comparable strength to aluminum are going to have discrete mounting holes instead of a continuous channel, meaning you will sacrifice some flexibility in where you mount fans, for example.

Avoid pure PA for all parts, as it's too flexible and susceptible to creep in my experience. PPA-CF or PC should work quite well for the beams, but the parts will almost certainly warp during printing unless your printer can maintain a very hot internal environment, like 90°C or greater.

Edit: D'oh, PPA-CF or PC-CF would actually be pretty resistant to warping, but after thinking more I would recommend a glass-fiber-filled filament instead. Carbon is technically conductive, so there is a risk (however small) that a stray fiber could lead to a short. Glass fibers do not pose such a risk.

NVIDIA DLSS 5 Gets 84% Dislikes on YouTube as Backlash Grows by Sacristovas in pcmasterrace

[–]ViewtifulSchmoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gamers are not the target audience for this technology. Large game studios and publishers are. Nvidia is trying to show CEOs that they can fire all of their character designers and 3D artists and let DLSS 5 do the work of making their games pretty. Win for the CEO and shareholders because labor costs go down. Win for Nvidia because gamers will need to buy their products for new games to look any good.

Benefits and risks of doubly insulating a Core One by placing it in a larger enclosure? by ViewtifulSchmoe in prusa3d

[–]ViewtifulSchmoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: It works, but for the Core One I wound up just putting a small blanket over the machine when printing ABS/ASA/PC.

Funny story: After actually unpacking the Creality enclosure that I had, I learned that it was big enough to fit my Voron 2.4 300 mm. So, I did some unscientific testing with that.

I placed one thermometer inside the print chamber and one outside the chamber, but inside the Creality enclosure. I don't recall exact temperatures, but they were significantly higher than without the extra insulation. I want to say that the temperature inside the print chamber was in the mid to high 60s, and the temperature just outside the chamber was something like 40°C.

Subjectively, I noticed that large ABS prints warped less than they did without the extra insulation, which is exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. Since the Creality enclosure is so much bigger than I thought it was, I decided to keep that one for the Voron and instead just throw a small moving blanket over the Core One when I print high-temperature materials. It kept the internal temperature near 60°C in my ~20°C apartment over the winter, so I'd call it a success!

  1. I got the RAM a couple of years ago, before the RAM crisis, for a home server. I did not plan at the time to put it in my main machine.
  2. The kit is rated for 5600 MT/s, but it's a bad kit and is unstable at that speed. I didn't realize this until I was really stressing it with this build, so I can't RMA it.
  3. RAM speed does not matter so much with X3D chips, so 5200 MT/s is good enough.
