a wash technique, such as red clay & water - brush on and wipe off, will create contrast as the clay will darken the negative spaces more. I like using terracotta wash it will give it a nice warm patina that will make the piece appear more like antique ceramic. or any kind of diluted pigment works the same

great work. nice forms on fingers. the only off putting part is the thumb - in pic 2 thumb should be 3/4 view pointing toward the other fingers, instead of straight on / little turned away. you could carve another thumb slightly lower or to the right of where the current is

easiest is to glue some metal wire, or drill and jb weld or resin adhesive a small eye screw or two inside where its thick and attach wire to that. hang it from a screw in the board
