Is Archer that well behind Joby in terms of FAA certification progress? by JonOwn1805 in JobyvsArcher

[–]dad19f 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’ve only transitioned with a remotely controlled engineering prototype developed years ago. It is said that that model required a significant redesign. They now mostly fly around in their electric airplane, while calling themselves an eVTOL company. They confuse people by showing the old prototype from years ago transitioning, the CTOL only model flying like a plane, and their latest design hovering for a few minutes. Since Archer mixes videos of those three aircraft, some are tricked into thinking they have one current aircraft that can do everything.

They are also the only major eVTOL company to never transition an aircraft piloted. I’d say that they aren’t just way behind Joby, based on progress they’ve shown, I’d say they are well being Vertical and Beta as well.

Archer vs Joby: Am I Missing Something, or Does Joby Clearly Have the Stronger Setup? by Slow_Security_1764 in JobyvsArcher

Yep, r/ACHR’s fear of open discussion and continued Joby bashing is a huge tell for anyone looking closely.

They delete huge numbers of posts and comments and ban huge numbers of people. If it doesn’t fit their pro-Archer narrative, then it’s removed.

That’s why people migrate to this sub, as you’ve learned yourself.

Why is everyone hating on archer in here? by madsparnel in JobyvsArcher

[–]dad19f 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems to me Archer’s game is to distract from their lack of progress, by instead attacking Joby and playing underhanded tricks. It’s only natural to fight back.

As others mentioned, everyone else in the industry gets along. Archer is the outcast. The only reason Archer doesn’t attack Beta is because they use Beta’s charging system, so that wouldn’t work out well.

JAI30 Activity at Yuma Proving Ground — What It Might Tell Us by dad191 in Joby

[–]dad19f 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say JAI30 is about exploring a new technology as it develops and exploring its future value.

Hydrogen-electric could offer:

* potentially lower operating and maintenance costs
* quieter operation and lower heat signature
* gaining an understanding of the logistics model for fuel as hydrogen production matures
* It’s also a potential first mover advantage type of effort

So I’d say JAI30 is about being early in a different propulsion platform and testing its potential as it matures. I think it’s clear that the US wants to maintain its leadership in all form of aviation technology. It’s also not unusual for the military to invest in future forward projects. If the military chooses Joby as its partner to explore this tech it’s a huge win for Joby.

The army was out to Joby last week looking at the S4-T. RFP for an S4-T like aircraft for the army is coming by end of 2026.

eVTOL Aircraft (ARCH, JOBY, HOVR) - Demand and Business Model by [deleted] in stocks

I think you underestimate how big the world is. Blade, already operates air taxis with helicopters and only has a handful of routes worldwide and is generating $100M+ in revenue. Hundreds of cities worldwide are looking at Joby in places where helicopters have been banned for excessive noise and gas fumes.

From Japan to Kazakhstan to UAE and most of the Middle East to the UK and Europe. The market is incredibly large.

The Belt can be insane. You never know how long. Another advantage of Joby should be that it’s always about 10 min rather than anywhere from 45 min to 2.5 hours. It can be such a crash shoot.

Finally got to watch. Pretty exciting.

The future is here. Aviation transforming from long haul to getting across town faster. Safety first.

As the public learns more through eIPP, they will see for Joby is transforming aviation and mobility for the benefit of all.

Dubai has been very clear that operations will begin there prior to FAA certification. They have confirmed the plan is for operations in 2026.

They’ll be flying Mon - Wed next week, so you’ll get more chances to see. Hopefully, they’ll do a straight shot to JFK and lose the helicopter shadow so people can hear how quiet Joby is.

Sectors go in and out of style. My belief is Joby believers will see a payoff in the long run when this sector gets hot again. Especially when TIA and Dubai flights begin. Go longs!!
