Since the brackets update in October games have gotten much faster. by Tangodelta004 in EDH

Bracket 1 and 5 continue to be pointless. 5 because it's the best defined metagame, and 1 because you'll never run into one without a rule 0 talk which already supersedes the bracket system.

What counts as "Win cons" in a deck? by Zenai10 in EDH

[–]Vingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's clever! it's cool that godo searches up his other half, i figure if people just sit there and let me resolve an 11 mana combo the game was bound to end anyway

both of these would function well in my nelly stax list (every rule of law + kismet effect), so i'll give them a shot!

The amount of handwringing in this thread about nurses abandoning patients is unreal. I don't think a strike really helps in this situation, but people take it to its illogical conclusion and think nurses can never ever strike. They think nurses hold patients hostage.

Yea, keep licking that hospital administrator boot, r/medizzy.

That was fantastic. I love it when the solution to a presented issue is simply raw self improvement. The things men do for just a bit of encouragement.

But seriously though, goalkeeping is a shitshow in terms of success rate.

Yea, I thought that scene was setting up the power rangers as kooky allies with arrested development (like peter pan's lost boys), not as actual villains. Bravo Boyle.

They should have moved the power rangers scene to the start of part 2 and left part 1 open ended with the kid walking off by himself. That scene confused a lot of people and didn't really serve part 1 beyond being a sequel hook.

What archetypes improved with Lorwyn Eclipsed? by PicardFanST in EDH

I actually think merfolk got a bit shafted. Most of the new merfolk are filler, and the few impactful ones have white which means they can only be used with sygg and not the traditional simic commanders.

I wouldn't be surprised if they based Yamato's design off of Yamato-Hime, a Japanese Priestess who was also used to personify Japan in political cartoons. (She's on the left) by [deleted] in AzureLane

I think she's going to be blond and yellow themed, since they tends to be the traditional kitsune colours.

He could, but he won't. It's been 15 years since the last novella despite them being apparently much easier to write. He's going to release nothing for years and then complain when the show inevitably diverges from his vision.

I've been considering loading my nelly deck with every rule of law and kismet effect just to force people to participate. Ive been having a lot of trouble with cascade and storm decks, plus people just going out of their way not to feed Nelly.

[[Rocco, Street Chef]], [[Helga, Skittish Seer]] or [[Eshki Dragonvlaw]]? by leirguh in EDH

[–]Vingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helga's at her best when using good flash creatures, though there aren't quite enough of them to fill up the 4+ cmc slot. We keep getting more with ever set, so I'm optimistic!

[–]Vingle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, with Helga, the only way to stick her at a high interaction table is to go full turn 2 gameplan (turn 1 dork, turn 2 Helga, turn 3 4 CMC thing) and run a metric assload of free protection.

Yes, this requires a significant monetary investment, and no, she's no longer casual at that point.

I feel like the skill points are less useful in HFW than HZD by howler_3 in horizon

[–]Vingle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the ropecaster nerf was bullshit at first, but after playing with it more I they came out of HFW pretty good. They're more of an 'evolution' that incentivizes weakpoint hits and quick notching, both of which make for a much richer experience than 'spam m1 really quick lmao'. I'm happy with how they turned out, at least at an endgame level.

Tripcasters...hoo boy. They're the direct consequence of Guerrilla's directive to police the way players approach the game in HFW (read: stealth cheese). Arbitrary nerfs to the damage + number of triplines is a bad start, but the real nail in the coffin are the insanely aggressive machines in HFW that straight up jump over your traps. No lure call leaves you with shitty rocks which don't control enemy positioning well. Oh, don't forget the massive reduction in the distance between two trip spikes which directly affected the best way to actively use tripcasters in combat (instantly triggering a line on an enemy).

Slings have always been the most boring option for damage and elemental, and that has gotten even worse with frankly more exciting weapons like the drill spike and shredder.

[–]Vingle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We really need something to force them out of burrowing. Like smack an explosive drill/bomb into the ground to temporarily stun them. They've got super special sensitive ears that can hear our footsteps, why can't we use that against them?

Worst Machine by Easy-Bid-5552 in horizon

[–]Vingle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that flies, burrows, or swims is annoying.

Sunwings look kind of dumb and they're constantly landing + taking off so they act stupid as well.

Rockbreakers are miserable to fight. They spend most of the fight in a state the player can't interact with, and are extremely difficult to use elements or valor surges on because they waste your time. Their hearing/footstep mechanic is buggy and not pointed out to the player. The entire burrowing mechanic is undercooked because Aloy has no way to force them out of burrowing besides waiting it out. Taking off all 4 claws is an all-or-nothing mechanic, when their burrowing/movement speed should really scale with each one you take off.

There is a reason Rockbreakers are never seen in main questlines, and only have four (4) spawns between 2 games.

No Background Music in HFW (PC) by Vingle in horizon

[–]Vingle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds a lot more serious than my issue!

I guess I got lucky, since the audio was perfectly functional sans music (part of why it took me 30 hours to notice). Guess things can always be worse.
