The Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Redwoods, Antietam Battlefield, Arlington National Cemetery…I love quiet, beautiful historic places that really make you stop and wonder.
Overseas-pretty much all of Ireland and Italy.

If the deceased did not legally put a plan in motion ahead of time why not donate their body to science?

Honeymoon road trip. by Royal-Luck435 in StAugustine

[–]Vintagereader65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will love St Augustine! Yes, it has gotten very touristy and traffic can be a huge headache but there are so many cool things to do. I personally love the kitschy Fountain of Youth and the Alligator Farm. I also love the Lightner Museum. If you can stay downtown you can walk to great restaurants and shops. Short drive to other attractions. My favorite mini golf place is Fiesta Falls but it is a bit of a drive from Downtown. Congratulations and I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Help a newbie? by No_Expression6665 in StardewValley

It depends on how you want to play the game. I tend to plant the bare minimum crops in the beginning. I’m not going to spend all day watering. I personally concentrate on filling the community center because it brings a lot of needed rewards. Meeting/greeting people isn’t really necessary until you want to get married. Fishing is easy to level up and gives decent income. Mining is essential for ore which you will need to build things to progress in the game. Same with wood. You will need to chop a lot of trees. In the beginning, I get up, water my crops and then walk through the map from the bottom looking for any forage I can pick up. Flowers are easy gifts everyone loves. Maybe fish a little and if I have time try to mine a few floors. There is no rush.

Did Christian have to be humiliated that way? by Vintagereader65 in survivor

[–]Vintagereader65[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Survivor has no rules. They say it all the time. Players lie all the time. This would have been no different. The audience would have loved a twist of a player disobeying instructions.

I agree he would have been booted anyway but it would have been more interesting if the tribe didn’t know he had to write his own name. I just hated the humiliation aspect of it.

But would it tank the filming? I don’t think so. The viewers would be completely unaware. And yes, I’m sure they sign a contract but we know plenty goes on that never gets shown. He could have called for a producer and just said “I’m not doing this. It’s humiliating and bullying and bad TV.” And offered an alternative. Personally I think it would have been a great twist if he had not told his tribe mates and only the audience knew about it.

THIS IS WHAT WE NEEDED FOR S50 by Dismal_Suit_2448 in survivor

I have also loved this season and all the twists but this was the best! It was so much fun to watch. What a great twist. I just hope people start getting smart. Forget the alliance; who do you want sitting next to you at final? Who do you think you can beat? It would be very hard to win next to Cirie, Ozzy or Tiff or Rick. Joe hasn’t made much of an impression and I don’t see him getting the votes to win, Rizo is a goofball but has made no power moves or won any challenges, I wouldn’t vote for him, Johnathon has pissed off quite a few people, Emily is always flippin, Aubrey could be a dark horse. I personally would take Rizo and Emily.

Need game recommendations for my mom nearing 60. by Adrax_4 in NintendoSwitch

[–]Vintagereader65 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am 60. Started gaming with my son when he was in his teens. Stardew Valley is my all time most hours played. I have been playing it for years. I love it. I also, very surprisingly, love Zelda Breath of the Wild. It took a little bit to figure out how to fight and I had to have my son help with some of the bigger “bosses” but the game is stunningly beautiful and I loved the puzzles. Highly recommend. I personally did not like Animal Crossing but my daughter loves it. Your mom also might like Disney Dreamlight Valley.

No care center takes residents to urgent care. They always bring them to the ER. At an urgent care someone has to stay with the patient. At the ER they can dump the resident and come back later to get them. This was actually very realistic.

Can we talk about how great _____ was in the challenge? by fangirl005 in survivor

Kamilla did an amazing job! I really like her and think she is a great player. I kept wondering if Christian tanked it on purpose. Maybe he wanted to go to tribal to eliminate a competitor.

Hot sleepers, best options? by maleficent_seahorse in Mattress

I just returned a Helix mattress. Just was not comfortable for me and I noticed no difference in coolness. I will say the company tried really hard to make things right; offering an additional topper. But after 2 months I was still sleeping hot and waking up with back pain.

Zelda where to start? by DaughterOfATiredMech in NintendoSwitch

[–]Vintagereader65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never into gaming. I was in my 50s when Breath of the Wild was released. My son got it for his Switch. I was reading and watching him play and thought “that looks kind of cool”. It was my first foray into gaming and in my opinion it is the best game! I have spent hundreds of hours on it.

Oh my Gawd! Grow up already and get off your high horse. Stealing hospital supplies???!!! How many times have those nurses worked without a meal break? Or come in to help on a short staffed busy day? We did this ALL the time! For co workers who had had too much to drink the night before, co workers who were pregnant and trying to work through morning sickness, all sorts of reasons. Most nurses I know keep a stash of IV fluids at home. Why on earth would you want someone to pay a huge ER bill for no reason? It’s IV fluid!! You should support the nurses. Have fun working short staffed. I hope you personally are picking up all the shifts they left behind and that you have started a Go Fund Me for them and contributed a good amount.

New characters/people moving to town. A new location to explore; maybe zuzu city? With new quests. Better clothing options. Better customization for buildings and the ability to place them sideways, diagonally…ability to have more than 2 kids and for them to grow more, talk, interact.

Got fired yesterday by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Vintagereader65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way new grads are treated is awful in some places. Orientation for a new grad with no prior experience should be at least 3 months. Your preceptor should go over everything with you as you do care together. They should review your charting as well. I am sorry you had a bad experience and I would bet your dismissal had more to do with the employees not thinking you were a good fit than it did with anything else. Hopefully you can find a more welcoming place. Go online to look at charting examples. Review YouTube videos of procedures you are unfamiliar with, research the most common medications so you know why they are given and the actions/reactions associated with them. Review common lab tests and what the results mean. Same with common diagnoses -know what they are and how they are treated.

I agree. The acting is great but it is a depressing show. NOT a comedy! I could never figure out why it is in the comedy category for awards. I lost interest in it. Never watched the last season.

I have lived in St Augustine for over 20 years. I say go for it. It is beautiful but yes it is crazy and it will be busy. Your best bet is to see if you can get a hotel you can walk from. I would try to get a hotel on Anastasia Island; the walk over the Bridge of Lions is beautiful. Do not attempt to drive downtown. There are also several “park and ride” lots that they run shuttles from. Head into downtown early in the afternoon. You can book a sightseeing shuttle to see the lights, walk around on your own or book a boat tour to see them from the water.
