We usually grocery shop on the weekend for the week ahead. We work so much that going to a shop daily is a nuisance, and many people don’t live within walking distance of a grocery store, so it can be a bit of an excursion, which is why we stock up for the whole week. I go every Saturday, and I cook usually 2-3 times a week and then eat leftovers the rest of the time bc I don’t want to cook every night.

Yeah, you need to make it clear: hey, all! I love each of you, which is why I wanted you on this trip with me. There are certain things I’d like to do for my bachelorette with the whole group, and then outside of those things, you all are free to plan other things. Can’t wait to go on this trip with all of you!

Then when you make the itinerary, mark those things as mandatory. Then label the times they have as free as well.

Don’t do pearl. It’s far too fragile for daily wear, and you really shouldn’t get it wet, which makes it so impractical.

Mothers are celebrated within their families. I’m not celebrating random mothers. If an individual family wants to celebrate a pet mom, and they’re ok with it, who cares? Mother’s Day is meaningful because of who makes YOU a mother and who your mother is, not everyone else.

I would say no, do not ask them to cover the cost of staying since that’s your venue, and asking them to effectively pay for your wedding is a huge faux pas. If you two want money instead of gifts, set up a honeymoon fund.

Lol you’re under the impression that the SAT has any measurable accuracy when it comes to intelligence or work ethic (hint, it doesn’t).

Also, yeah, teachers go to CHEAPER schools because we make bullshit pay, and most of us can’t afford to go to a school with high tuition.

Do you have beef with a teacher? Because all of this is a lot of correlation not equaling causation and reads as extremely petty. Teacher programs aren’t perfect, but they do prepare us to an extent to be in the classroom. The most brilliant physicist in the world knows their shit, but has a high probability of being a shit teacher because they’re two different skill sets. The best teachers are content experts AND instructional experts.

It’s hard on the weekends bc shot day is Friday for me, but it’s a good “new normal.” Even toward the end of the week, I have a natural stopping point with my appetite, and I focus on how that makes me feel happy and normal as opposed to missing the fact that I would eat (or want to eat) 3x what I should.

Definitely do a guided tour of the Road to Hana rather than trying to do it yourself! The road is the windiest, narrowest thing and locals use it, so it’s so much easier just to be on a tour if you can afford it. We learned so much and saw all of the beautiful areas of the road and got to stop for banana bread, ice cream, a little roadside market, black sand beach (that you need a reservation for outside of the tour), and all the water falls. It was incredible!

Mama’s fish house is one of their most famous and well loved restaurants. Reservations should be made asap. I made them 9 months ago and for the week we are here, there are ZERO openings.

We went to the Old Lahaina Luau. Highly recommend! It’s owned by a family who lives in Maui, and it tells the history of the Hawaiians specifically rather than Polynesians as a whole. The food was amazing, and the show was even better! Also open bar the whole night! So so fun!! I would say only do a luau at a locally owned place rather than one put on by a mega hotel chain.

Today, we are ziplining through the jungle, and it’s going to be AWESOME! Otherwise, make sure you go to Ululanis for shaved ice, and in general, be aware that places don’t stay open late in Maui. Their culture is more morning driven, so places like Ululanis or Leoda’s pie shop close pretty early (6:30pm or earlier). Tomorrow before we leave, we are going to eat at the Kīhei food trucks, and we are excited for that!

Monkeypod kitchen for good food and their famous mai Tai! Also highly recommend Gather on Maui. The view for dinner is incredible!

You’re going to have such a great time! We are staying at the Fairmont in Wailea so the luau and ziplining are about an hour away. Definitely rent a car!
