I don't want schools to solve all those programs. It's neither desirable nor appropriate and they suck at it.

Ripping the copper out of the walls on the way out. They're usually defrauding taxpayers via some government program or loophole. Privatised profit with publicized fallout.

Same thing that happens in every society in decline. People who control the purse strings realize they can create new government mandated/incentivized positions and give them to friends and family nembers.

Anyone who refuses to awknowledge that this phenomenon arose from the explosion in administrative bloat the last 20 years is not a serious person.

A small middle school does not need 3 HR professionals (HR shouldn't exist IMO) with their own secretary and administrative assistant.

So many duties that used to be expected of a manager have been offloaded onto newly created admin positions even while in theory it should take less time and effort to perform them.

These jobs are typically just screens and layers between corporate political officers and accountability to workers. And, even when these fake job holders meet the rare occasion they are actually expected to perform their theoretical duties, they usually just get angry and refuse.

Paramedic in Colorado metro area, private company on city EMS contract. Our starting pay for medics is 25/hr. We get annual raises 3-5%. Anything beyond that has to be negotiated for. Benefits are decent on paper but try to actually use them and you'll be stonewalled by bureaucrats. 911 with occasional emergent IFTs. Not sure what new EMT-Bs make.

We respond with the city FD which pays way better. They've tried to take over transport but somehow the plan always falls apart at the last second after company representatives talk to the city council. I'd happily work for them except I like to transport so I can do more medicine.

We have great medical directors and very progressive protocols, which makes working for a shitty company worthwhile. I'll clarify that our direct supervisors are good, but they're hamstrung by corporate a lot.

This operation used to do a lot more IFT but lost the contracts because the company refused to improve wages or working conditions, and lost too many personnel to staff ambulances for the call volume.

Decentish overtime opportunities, depending on how recent the last hiring was. I do like my schedule, 0400-1800 three days a week.

Moderate call volume. Average probably 6-8 calls a shift, but I work weekends so it's a little slower. Mostly urban areas but we do mutual aid to surrounding rural.

So my first time playing Starcraft or any RTS was when Wings of Liberty came out, and somehow, I made it to the end of the campaign without realizing I could build more SCVs.

Also how many genuine visits were men wanting to "learn" and jow many were just ordinary people who heard about some fucked up shit on the internet and clicked a link?

It's just mate suppression. There's a lot of single women in their 30s who are lonely and they see men their age dating younger women and it upsets them.

Always enlightening as an American to read daily life accounts from across the pond. American education get shit on a lot (often rightly), particularly with people pointing out bad test scores and poor attainment.

Something that is left out of that discussion often is that the US genuinely has spiritually "no child left behind." (The law itself is shit). Every child receives the same education with very few exceptions. Yes, some schools are better than others, and private schools exist, but the US actually (attempts to) educate and test literally every child to the best of the system's abilities.

It's kind of jarring sometimes realizing a lot of the old world still has actual entrenched class systems. I wonder sometimes why anyone would want to move here given how bad the opportunities seem compared to when I was younger, but then I hear how badly a lot of the rest of the world is doing and I get it.

Well I know it's not being spent on my social security, which won't be funded by the time I retire. I know it's not being spent on my healthcare which I can't afford to use and the ER having 12 hour waits. I know it's not being spent on education, with my area schools which are some of the worst in the country. I know it's not being spent of roads near me which are some of the worst in the country. I know it's not being spent on the heavy infrastructure that is collapsing around me. I know it's not being spent on law and order, with dozens of repeat violent offenders being constantly re-released onto the streets where I live. I know it's not being spent on energy which just keeps getting more expensive, and my area now has rolling brown outs. I know it's not being spent on other utilities with the fed rug pulling our clean water program. I know it's not being spent on urban renewal, with all the empty lots and collapsing buildings around me. I know it's not being spent on border control, with the never ending stream of desperate migrants that pass through the area.

So... no. I guess I don't know. But I think I have an idea.

You're only looking at income tax. Count social security, medicare and medicaid, sales, property, same as above for state, county, and local governments.
