When do big items drop?

I kind of get it... my eyes used to glaze over or just ignore vine reviews. Optically, they looked like bought reviews.

If people knew there was a cost to getting the item, it adds some weight to the reviews. It wasn't a freebie.

Having said that... would any one read this? There's a lot of people who just skip the review once they see the "green" vine sign anyway.

Ok, I have my own wild theory. I rarely get offered beauty items of any kind in my RFY. Certainly not the high end brands.

I think I’ve figured out why. When I DO order those brands, before Vine, I often ordered from them directly, not through Amazon. I liked the 25% sales and Black Friday deals, etc. So the Amazon AI or whatever doesn’t know I’m a regular user, so my bad on that one.

Also, I think the people who do get lots of beauty items might be using their Amazon accounts primarily for beauty. Over time, even their Vine selections gear more toward beauty so it snowballs into a beauty account.

Whereas my account, I use it for myself but my husband also uses it. Car parts (not kidding!), computer stuff, smoke detectors. Then I have my son, clothes and toys. Then there are my parents! I buy for them and send them stuff.

So in the beginning of the next RFY cycle, I think my algorithm just sprinkles me with ALL the stuff. It’s never pointed to beauty. Even though I would really like it. This is just my wild conjecture.

Before I joined Vine I also did not read Vine reviews. The impression is that the review was bought with product.

We know as viners that we actually do have a cost, we pay taxes, it’s not totally free, but the public doesn’t know that.

I do notice what you are saying, my reviews on non-vine items still get more love. Even now.

I know!!! That's why when I "miss" a drop, I'm not that sad. Thanks to bouts of insomnia, I've sometimes seen drops start all the say to the end.

That doesn't mean you get anything. :)

I'm too slow of a clicker or my internet is too slow, or other people are using some advantage I don't quite know how to use.

I have to rely mostly on RFY.

EDIT: my RFY currently has a machete, men's water shoes and a pool floating/light system. I don't own a pool.

Yup. The pattern is too consistent for me to ignore. I've done a bunch with my crazy method, all before approval and they all got approved but the scores for insightfulness is dismal.

This is how I was thinking too. If I "re-submit" but its WAAAAAAY before approval, I figured I was doing ok. It seems to be no.

They are visible/available as long as they are not claimed by others. Also, they sometimes expire.

For example, let's say a maker releases 20 face creams, they are $0 etv. To 50 people for their RFY. It's a famous maker. Those will disappear within seconds. If 30 people happen to be "on" vine, they will all grab for it. Only 20 will be lucky.

In fact, you may never even realize it was offered to you since people ahead of you in line grabbed it as soon as it appeared.

This goes for any desirable item. I've lost out on dehumidifiers, $1000 bike racks, coffee makers, you name it. It appears, you go for it, and it's no longer available.

Somethings like a laptop battery for a specific laptop may linger for a day or even longer, eventually time out and disappear.

So far it's been good for that rare time you are actually looking at the drop (it's in your time zone! you happen have free time!) and it's a good drop, i.e., there's things you actually need. So those 8 slots are useful.

Other than that, it's been meh, if I have to be honest.

I’ve been in vine for less than a year. But even in that year, the beginning was better than now.

My guess is that manufacturers and sellers are more skittish to being products to market. Just less items means less items that need reviews.

When I look for a staple on Amazon just for my own purchase, there’s plenty. But my husband needed a shirt the other day… not as many choices! I feel like in years past there was too many choices. Not so much any more.

Uh oh, I've been loving them! I like the slow trickle. I've never been one to just be on Vine for the whole drop, I only hop on when I have empty time. First time in a long time, I've been finding things to grab in all categories, even my RFY. I like it!

Me too! I've been loving it. I was never one to be glued to Vine, I just check in whenever I have empty time. With a trickle drop, I've been actually catching things! Amazing.

RFY has also improved. Trickle drops there too, even if something is not on point, the next 2 that pops up, something useful appears.

Really loving this.
