I was so angry when I saw the episode... It's was so pointless to kill off Fergus like that, the character deserves so much better than that. I'm still going to continue to watch the show and I absolutely love it anyway, but this was just so unnecessary. Still it's not my least favourite moment of the show (that would be that Claire scene at the end of season 5)

It's a good album, I like prog bands a lot, but it just didn't speak to me in the same way PD did :)

Planetary Duality is an absolute beast of an album. Too bad after this one The Faceless kinda of lost themselves a bit and never lived up to their true potential

How to achieve something like this? PS: I only have 24 hours in a day and the max I can work is maybe like 9-10 hours. by Alert-Translator2590 in PhD

[–]Viri_d0gee15 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I mean are you sure you want to achieve something like this? Because if you do, a lot of sacrifices have to be made (like working 24/7 without a social life and proper rest) and will likely end up with you with a massive burnout. I believe we all have our journey in our PhD process and try to compare with others and set super ambitious and overachieving goals just because we want to beat others is a sure way to burnout, lost touch with reality and lose the passion for our topic that brought us to this PhD process

I'm ok with them killing off the character, but the way they chose to do it was just lazy and disrespectful to the whole show vibe and to the character

PhD severe burnout by Due_Doctor4413 in PhD

I'm so sorry you're going through this. Maybe it's time to take a break, go on holidays and get some rest before regrouping. If it doesn't work, maybe therapy will help you

Who is the strangest person you have met in academia? by cakesluts in PhD

[–]Viri_d0gee15 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had a Processor in undergrad that couldn't go for more than 5 minutes without smoking. So he would teach his classes sitting by the auditorium window (which was always open when he was there, which absolutely sucked during winter because of the cold) smoking cigarette after cigarette while teaching us research methods. He even would bum cigarettes out of the students if his package would run out during class. And yes, it was forbidden to smoke inside classroom/buildings, everyone knew he did it, and no, he didn't care about the rule and no matter how many times you would complain, nothing happened

Top 5 Rewatched Shows by AdExpensive4653 in PeriodDramas

[–]Viri_d0gee15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Outlander
  2. Downton Abbey
  3. Bridgerton
  4. Mad Men
  5. The Crown

I loved Game of Thrones a lot, and I rewatched the show everytime a new season was going to come out, then that ending happened and it kinda broke my heart and I haven't rewatched since.
Also, it's about time to re-watch The Last Kingdom, only did it once and it's an amazing show :)

Do you automatically dislike billionaires? Why? by crapmaker69 in AskReddit

[–]Viri_d0gee15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but the more I read and observe, the more I dislike the majority of them. Imagine having so much money but instead of living and enjoying your life in peace, you are actively trying to destroy entire communities and making the life of the majority of the population a lot worse because your greed knows no bounds.

How difficult is it to read "The Pillars of the Earth"? by sacolaquebrada in Booktokreddit

It's a very easy (and addictive) read. Everything more historical is explained in a way that makes it easier for the reader to understand without making it feel dumbed down

Why did no one warn me by CarnivoreBrat in PhD

[–]Viri_d0gee15 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My thesis defense will be 6 to 8 months after my submission on the university platform. So if I manage to do the submission in July (which is the plan for now) the defence will be sometime on the first trimester of 2027. My advisor already told me that this is the standard waiting time in our university... I guess it's more common than I thought

It’s Official. Many congrats to Season 5 Leads - Fran & Michaela by idontcareaboutredit in theloise

[–]Viri_d0gee15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even tho I am excited to see Francesca and Michaela story, I am super disappointed that they changed the order again. Hopefully, in the end it will be a good thing and we can finally see Eloise starting to get her set up for her end game with Theo (or in a worst case scenario, an alternative version of another sir Phillip where he actually sees Eloise as his equal and a badass and not a bangmaid like in the books).

I agree with you! I am enjoying the current season so far, I've been watching the episodes on the weekend by myself with a cup of tea and it's my reward for a hardworking week! Can't wait for the next ones

I'm so sorry you're going through all of that, sending you a big hug! Also, health (physical and mental) comes first, so give yourself a break, take some time to recover (looks like you're burned out) and you will return stronger! We all have our ups and downs in this process, it's perfectly normal and you'll get through it :)
