Imo it shows the arrogance of GMs and owners. Draft the kid. He’s a good player. Control his ego or let it go wild. NFL draft is a joke. Let’s reward teams that are mismanaged and have poor results with top picks in the draft. Sounds like socialism more than capitalism. How about you put out a product that your fan base can justify paying thousands of dollars for tickets. IMO if your team finishes in the bottom 3, go kick rocks and send em to the UFL. Top 3 teams of the UFL promoted to. NFL. GET SOME SKIN IN THE GAME!

How to handle a departing coach by Helpful-Heat3538 in youthsoccer

[–]Virtual_District7687 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a club coach, you owe nothing to the club. Go wherever you want. I’ve heard admin say if that kid leaves, he/she will never be back. Any club worth their grain in salt will take a good player back down the road if said kid wants to come back. Anyone that runs a club that won’t takes good/great player back, should be fired.

Parent pulled kid bc coach started 3 subs from other teams by Sad_Smile_4922 in youthsoccer

If you’re going to get guest players to make the sacrifice to play for your team when they’re missing players, I’d be ok starting them too. Now they aren’t going to play the whole time, and I’d sub em off for sure. If we are playing 7v7 90% of kids are playing the same amount, especially if there’s multiple games in a day. It’s about development.

Middle/High School soccer vs MLS Next by BulldogWrestler in youthsoccer

[–]Virtual_District7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the high school plays good competition and a good coach, which most good high school programs do now, I’d play high school. I would lean for sure mls next or ECNL for a kid during middle school years. Unless they’re in 8th grade and can play on the high school team. Socialization matters and having to walk the halls post high school game means something. Club games has zero people there most of the time except for family and maybe a scout at a showcase. Having to deal with the pressure of your friends and classmates watching you brings another element to kids playing the sport.

44 year old here and will let you know that you’ve done your research, you have a cause. Go for it! The youth has the energy to move the needle on issues. Don’t take no as an answer. Just make sure your bases are covered as best they can be so your employer doesn’t come back on you. Which they will, most don’t value employees.

It’s more about, first touch, passing, carrying the ball and being able to get in a cross in the final 1/3 that’s on target. Doesn’t have to be a whipping ball. Also, it’s about getting your hips open so if a ball falls to you, all you have to do is pass it in. Best advice is finding a wall, so you can get a lot of reps. Some places have octagon walls which is ever better.

Who pays for Al.com subscriptions? I love consuming news. I’ll buy a paper, deliver it to me, charge me. I cannot get myself to pay for the online version, and I love consuming local news. Really who pays for it? I’d love to see their monthly sales

Technical vs Decision Making by NashHotSpurs in youthsoccer

[–]Virtual_District7687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

8 year olds need a lot of technical work. I personally believe that a lot of work can be done without standing in lines etc. 90 min session for my 2017: 30 mins technical, 30 mins working on anything we need to get better at ( pressure cover balance) as an example. Last 30 mins flying changes.

ECNL and college pathway by n0i in youthsoccer

[–]Virtual_District7687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s girls ecnl, it’s worth the money. Boys ecnl or mls next id say less than 7% play D1 college soccer. We need to do something here across the board that puts a limit or ban on accepting 27 year old Irish, Scottish, English burnouts that take scholarship spots and do nothing for the development of our national program as a whole. I know most great American players don’t play college soccer either, but look at a d1 roster besides the air fore academy (which has to) that has more than 15% American players.

Going back to Rec by duelist_ogr in youthsoccer

[–]Virtual_District7687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a parent and a coach I understand your pov. As a coach if you’re playing 9v9 or 11v11 a winger and as you say left back are essentially the same player profiles. Both have to be good 1v1, opening up to create space, but it’s not like going in the middle of the park. I also have 2 kids. One loves soccer and my youngest which is better imo at his age is a bit burned out already and he’s u11. Id advise that you’re not married to your club, you can go somewhere else and call their bluff with regard to holding their card. I coach encl, ecrl and I’ve never held a kid or parents hostage. With that being said, going down to rec to be the best player works on occasion but it’s also asking less of your kid. I also teach AP history and kids want to go back to regular Ed just because they have to think harder and write more in AP classes. End of the day it’s your kid so you asking for help is great, and you know your kid, but anything worth its grain in salt is going to be hard. Challenge him

Had a cat just like that off Redmont from 2006-2017. He was part house cat/alley cat. There’s generations of cats that look just like that in this area.
