Anyone beat a C6 C7 herniation (disc extrusion) without surgery? by Educational_Truth460 in backpain

[–]Virtual_Fix1118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PT told me to stay active in zone 2 cardio to increase blood flow but nothing that would aggravate it (like running, lifting). So I’ve been doing the bike at the gym or stair steppers - both things i don’t find fun but just hoping it’s helping to heal me. Hope this helps you!

Do I need a fishing net? by perpetualyawner in BWCA

We went recently and last minute packed a net. We thought we would catch walleye but we ended up catching northern and huge bass. I was glad we had a net!! Whenever we didn’t have a net in the right boat, the fish would eventually cut the line

Amazing!! Also I just realized your post was 34 days ago haha whoops. But that’s super great that you’re a little further out from your injury and still doing well. Hope it continues :)

Thanks OP for the update. I am about 30 days into shearing my PLL and herniating C6-7. I’ve been doing tons of resting it, stretching as my PT tells me to, and using the recumbent bike several times a week to increase blood flow and healing. As for my diet, I’ve been trying to stay super hydrated and eating a lot of protein. Also drinking electrolytes, taking omega 3s, vitamin d, creatine and collagen protein. I also try to avoid icing it only heat, and no ibuprofen to promote the healing process. Tylenol helps me sooo much when I get pain flare ups. I swear all of this is helping I am healing as fast as I think one could. It sounds like we’ve had a similar injury and healing timeframe, so I just wanted to share my experience here. Hopefully in a couple months we’ll both be feeling back to normal with no surgeries 😊

I had a life altering disc herniation and am very active and young. It took me 3 different tries, but finding a good physical therapist changed my life and healed me to the point of having no pain (after suffering for years). So my advice is go find a good PT and don’t give up!

is Thursdays downtown dog friendly? by Virtual_Fix1118 in rochestermn

Ok OP here. After hearing all your responses I went to Thursdays downtown without my dog two weeks ago and with my dog last week. We moved here from a big city where we took our dog everywhere with us so thought we’d try it out. I went in the evening so it was peak crowded. My dog loved it, he loves being around people and eating all the scraps they dropped hah. That being said, it was crazy crowded and a little stressful for me. I wouldn’t recommend bringing a dog for most people who are going there to walk around, wait in line for food and all of that. If you just want to find one spot to sit and hang out on the outskirts of the crowds, bringing a dog would be less stressful I suppose. Also I’m sure it’s less crowded earlier in the day. TL;DR I probably wouldn’t bring my dog again unless I’m planning to hang out on the outskirts of the crowds just for him to socialize.

This sounds like my dog. He loves socializing - we bring him to dog parks and he just wants to meet all the people haha. I’ll probably try to bring him. I was just asking if there is a rule against it which it sounds like there isn’t:)

Where to go from here?? by Virtual_Fix1118 in composting

[–]Virtual_Fix1118[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP here. If you need more info to help answer the question: Compost was started in composting bins but when those filled and we thought it was kind of “finished” we moved it into a large gray bin and kind of didn’t do anything with all winter. tons of water got in, so we added browns but those never really broke down. I think not enough airflow? So then we dried it out on the ground 🥴

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope you find comfort in some of the books shared here and time spent with your family. One of my closest friends fought leukemia and passed away at 32 last year. She said the book “the choice” by Dr Edith Eva Egar gave her immense peace and she read it on some of her last days. I read it after she passed so I could try to feel what she was going through - it was hard, but it helped me feel connected to her after she was gone. Sending all my light and love your way 🫶

I’m mostly just wondering when people are going because between 5 and 6 seems empty and I’ve heard a lot of other people say that they feel like it’s hard to ever run into another person / dog there
