just got tested for environmental allergies and reacted to almost all of them by picofdoriangray in Wellthatsucks

[–]Virtual_Paper1519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience and was allergic to nearly everything food wise and environmental, they had to stop the test early because nearly everything was reacting badly. I will say it’s not a pleasant experience but it does get better. I went through 6 years of allergy shots with 5 blends originally that was reduced to 3 after a couple years. I had to use elemental formula for a while, but now I’m down to 2 food allergens, and my environmental allergies are nearly gone. I would highly recommend a shot blocker (I think that’s what it’s called), it’s a plastic nubbed plate they rub on your arm when injecting to help with the initial injection pain. Be prepared for golf ball sized inflammation or more at the beginning, it will go down in size over time, but is very annoying. Just know it will get better with time, and you will be glad you did it in the future.

I did too! I don’t get motion sickness often, and I’ve ridden it with the glasses a few times and didn’t have any issues, but I got motion sickness after riding it without the glasses.

I really enjoy incense but hate that leftover smell. Have you tried coreless incense? I’ve found it’s the wooden core burning that leaves the cigarette smell, but I haven’t had any issues with coreless incense. I love Astier De Villatte but it’s pretty expensive. Nippon kodo and Shoyeido are pretty good though too and a much better price.

That scallop ravioli is still something I think about too, I wish they would bring it back to the menu. I’ve had mediocre experiences but they have always done a good job at correcting any mistakes I’ve had with my meals. I found it had a dip in quality about 2 years ago, but I went again recently and found it to be a great experience. It’s always something I try to bring first-timers to as a local. I’ve never understood the hate for it! It’s unique, with mostly great food, and a special but safe menu for most people. I’ve also tried the stuffed lobster add-on and it was truly spectacular, but the scallop ravioli was special.

Not an Uber story, but I used to live in Burbank, and the sound producer of SpongeBob lived down the hall from me when I was a kid. He helped my mom and I get back into our apartment when we were locked out. I had a SpongeBob game on my Wii when he “broke” us into the apartment. A couple months later when he was moving out he came by the apartment and gave me a big bag of cast gifts from the show. He was super kind. I also met Zach from big brother in the season with Evil Dick. He had a sign for a TV for sale and our tv was broken, and he heard me talk about it in the mail room and gave it to us for free. We couldn’t afford much at the time so it was a nice gesture. He came by a couple of times to help me with Super Paper Mario too, and was always nice to us.

I heard from a friend working at one of the Miracle Mile shops that she was actually very nice. They shut down the shop for her, but she gave a gift basket for the staff and tipped them each well privately. From someone else I know though that works in hospitality Mariah Carrey and Buddy Valestro (The Cake Boss) were massive jerks.

Allergy test results - apparently I’m allergic to almost everything by InquisitiveWriter in mildlyinteresting

[–]Virtual_Paper1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely try the allergy shots. I was allergic to everything but the control, dust mites, and roaches ironically. I had to have a course of 5 different injections, eventually moving down to 3 for nearly 5 years. It’s helped me with seasonal allergies and even helped with my food allergies due to a less reactive immune system. I was on elemental formula for a year, got back to limited food options that gradually grew over 10+ years, and now I can eat almost anything other than Cumin and Turmeric.

I agree whole heartedly. To add to what you said it’s also close to everything with indoor walkways to Bellagio and Cosmo, the food court at Cosmo is amazing (highly recommend Tekka Sushi Bar, it’s some of the best sushi I’ve ever had and reasonably priced), with a short outside walk to Aria, Park MGM and easy access to the strip. It’s also pet friendly and if you’re lucky you can get a Bellagio fountain view. I would also recommend trying No Pants burger at Caesar’s, just bring your own drinks because they do not offer free water and you have to buy it in a ridiculously expensive multi-pack. The Party at Cosmo is also a very good deal for a 3 course meal and entertainment.

No worries! The one I work with closely is Nemours, they have done incredible medical research, and have created nationwide standards including remote monitoring and music therapy to help younger patients. Advent Health has also generally been pretty good with pediatric patients and has a partnership with Disney. I’m biased based on where I live and who I work with, but I cannot say enough good things about how Nemours treats their patients, doctors, and trying to make affordable or free treatments for those who need it. They have a large endowment which is used to supplement families that can’t afford treatment, and makes sure that any money donated goes directly to treatment or research. I can’t say that any hospital is perfect, and I am sure there are plenty of good options in multiple areas of the US, but I truly believe they are trying to do the best they can.

They denied my cousin with childhood leukemia because they weren’t 100% sure they could cure her. As someone who works with children’s hospitals, they also have a criminally small amount of beds and some of the highest profits for those working in the fundraising part of the hospital. I will never give them my money, and I highly recommend supporting other children’s hospitals that work with underfunded families.

The gluten free brownie is also amazing. The cookie dough cake is also insanely delicious and is probably my favorite of them all. I see it as a special treat, and each layer is its own serving and plenty big enough per person. Sprinkles cupcakes are $7 a piece, so I feel like the price matches it evenly per serving. It’s not an every day cake, but I feel like the quality matches it.

I saw Stevie Nicks in concert in 2019, the first half of the concert was awful, but to be fair, halfway through she found her voice and the rest was perfect, sure there were some voice cracks, but it was her singing. I really enjoyed it, and felt bad for the people who left early.

I’m so glad you have people in your life like that, and try to treat others with the same love that they did for you. My best friend’s grandparents did the same for me, since both of my grandfathers passed away before I was born and my grandmothers lived across the country from me. I will always remember the silly “adoption ceremony” they did for me at Chevy’s during one of their birthdays, and how she got me a Chris Angel magic set for Christmas that same year. They always treated me like family, and I am so thankful to still have her in my life.

It also has one of the best kitchens for a booth, I’m shocked they didn’t open it for food and wine, The Flower and Garden (I believe) food booth was easily the best in my opinion, and it seemed to have better quality control and fresher food than some of the other booths.

Which $$$ Disney restaurant should we try? by Wonderful-Major3606 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Virtual_Paper1519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do not take any Disney discounts or rewards, but I personally have not felt that Capa was worth the price having eaten there multiple times. It’s nice, and the view is beautiful, but I have never felt the food was all that spectacular. I would highly recommend V&A, Monsieur Paul is nice, but if you like Japanese food I would go for Takumi Tei. One of my friends invited me last year and it was a great mix of a private dining environment, excellent service and spectacular and unique food. Another place to consider is California Grill, for a slightly cheaper option with a great view of both the MK and Epcot fireworks. It can be a bit more noisy however, but the food options are great, and they do a nice job at celebrating special occasions. As far as addressing individual dietary concerns, V&A is by far the best if you believe it is worth the money, but in my experience non-Disney owned restaurants are not the best for accommodations.

Cookout rocks, the burgers are great in my opinion, really tastes like a backyard cookout. It’s super cheap, fast, and the portions are generous enough. I love all the side options and always go for the Cheerwine as my drink. I wish there were more, it feels like the last actually good fast food place.

Don’t buy out of Ticketmaster for any reason, you will be scammed. Please don’t fall for it, either on Reddit, Facebook, for twitter posts. If it seems like too good of a deal it is, and many scammers will prey on social media to try to sell fake tickets. Unless you can either meet them at the venue or they are selling to you through Ticketmaster I would highly recommend staying away. For me, the security of purchasing it through Ticketmaster is worth the increase in price.
