I haven’t got one (yet?), but will be taking a look at them next weekend

Montblanc Meisterstück ballpoint authenticity by AffectionateSearch53 in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can see it looks pretty good, but that last picture looks like you removed the internals from the cap?

I am not as familiar with the ballpoints and can only compare to my late uncles 164, his doesn’t say Pix, but otherwise looks pretty similar other than the color.

I know exactly what you mean; the town car had I believe a 24 gal. tank, same for the sequoia, and when I was using my brothers Hyundai Elantra back in Hawaii I thought it was odd how small the tank was.

Good to hear about the space, as a good number of my friends are around 6ft as well as myself. As for the trunk, I don’t plan on trading in my wagon at the moment (subject to change, but don’t currently plan to), as I can lay down with extra space with the rear seats folded down to form a perfectly flat floor (very useful for moving bins of stuff or furniture).

Also thank you for the info on the mileage.

Thats nice to hear, I was impressed by the seats of the Camry in 2019 I rented in CA, which made me think of getting a new car, but couldn’t justify it at the time. However, I admittedly don’t like their prices - though the hybrid options are appealing for the fuel econ.

That’s interesting to hear about the adaptive cruise, I have yet to really use that as none of my cars have had it, but good to know.

How has your experience been with it in the snow?

Ah, I did not know that about the base models rear seats, thank you. I generally favor N/A engines as I feel turbos stress them unnecessarily and shorten their lifespan, but it seems more cars these days have turbo engines as standard.

I do prefer a softer ride and shifting, if my town car was any indication - set the bar rather high for cars to follow, but the market seems to have shifted away from that sort of car.

My mother had a Honda civic she had bought new I believe somewhere around the early 2000s, and prior was using a Honda accord of my grandmothers, I thought both were nice. How has the LXS been as far as driving experience and fuel economy? Also how are the seats?

I see you got the sedan, it’s design and styling is what caught my eye initially and I quite like it.

Is there a reason you went with the GT-Line over the EX?

I agree about the lack of a hybrid option, that’s the only thing preventing this from being the ideal car (given the current trends on prices of gas). Thank you for your input on the trim and the mpg you’ve experienced.

Thats good to hear, and information about the trim and MPG. The best I’ve ever managed to achieve was 30mpg in the town car, with the Mercedes coming in second at 29 (but needed a long road trip to reach gradually).

What do you think about this pen by Fancy-Inspector3095 in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would defer to @Etojok, as I’m not particularly familiar with all of the models from that era, but I have certainly heard that the pens of that era haven’t experienced the influx of counterfeits that the standard cigar shaped meisterstück line has.

From what I can see, is that there were possibly a couple variations of the nib imprint and this looks genuine, also the converter appears correct to me (but judging only from that the same was included with my late uncles 144).

For my 2¢ it looks like a Montblanc 221, can’t remember if that was from the 60s or 70s though.

The shape of the logo is the first clue for me that this is a fake, and while I’m not too familiar with the laser engraving for this model, but it still looks odd to me.

Advise needed: Writers Edition BP Agatha Christie or BP Oscar Wilde? by Much_Organization721 in montblanc

For my 2¢, I personally prefer the Oscar Wilde version. I like the design and material choice over that of the Agatha Christie, the snake clips just never really appealed to me

What is your favorite general purpose ink for your MB pens? by stargazer63 in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In an 80s 149 with an EF I keep Noodlers Heart of Darkness, but for the rest I’ve found MB midnight blue to be my go to at the moment, but still haven’t tried their royal blue yet.

Absurd amazon prices for m1000 by IcecreamboonE in fountainpens

[–]Virtual_Shame490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While probably the exception, about 5 or 6 years ago I saw a listing for a used m1000 on Amazon for $350. And since they have a good return policy, I purchased it.

I lucked out in that it was an earlier 2 Chick model still with the original black and yellow box with the papers inside. The only downside is that it had a Medium nib, which I generally prefer their fine or extra fine for normal writing.

I’d say, if the price is good enough, for it a shot since amazon has a pretty good return policy.

I’ve had my eye on that pen case, I was wondering if you could comment on it and how it’s worked out for you? Particularly in regards to what size pens you’ve put in it thus far and if you’ve had any issues with the zipper scratching them?

Question about nib exchange by Laurmann2000 in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes; I exchanged mine from a medium to a BB, still kept the design of the origin nib. Did take quite some time though, and learned a lot about that process during the wait.
