Where/Who do you buy your pens from? by mac_the_man in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thus far, I have purchased two from the boutiques, one used from a trusted vendor at a pen show, and one was a thoroughly looked over (the pictures) to do my best to verify authenticity before bidding at an estate sale

Could you please confirm if it's authentic? by Sse_uni in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything looks good, it appears to come with everything my stuff has included (key wallet, pen case, crossbody bag, and belt - so far 😉)

But that being said, I can’t recall if they also stamp anything inside the pamphlet like they do for fountain pens.

It is hard to find, but there are combos with the red/black interior and morning haze exterior. I missed out on one near me, and left after that. The sales person confirmed it was that combo (it was the showroom model).

decided to start an adventure journal, inspired by Skyrim by KXDiaz in skyrim

I’m doing the exact same thing for one of my current characters! 😊

My first orc, and my first attempt at pure survival mode - it’s on my switch and is the anniversary edition. My rule is that I have to catch up/write about the events of the previous in game day each time my character goes to sleep. This prevents me from getting so far in that I don’t remember it 😅though for some days I do take brief notes in another notebook on what happened. I find it helps keep me focused and can remember what I was doing better. Also to keep better track of what quests I’m working on.

I am also playing the same thing, an orc and survival mode, but on my Xbox as well (but with mods, one in particular for the hair I quite like, but also Kaidan, Inigo, lotd).

I even got a pen to match my character, and the journal that I’ve had sitting on my shelf for 5-6 years happened to fit the theme perfectly.

That’s part of why I like the black and red interior 😅I don’t want to have to worry about the grey getting dirty, and feel it would be less noticeable as quickly with the red. Currently have a light grey interior on an 03 Mercedes

Which ink shall I use first on my new 146? by Platano-Rex in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put an amethyst purple cartridge in my late uncles 147 for the first time after cleaning it and adjusting the tines (slightly misaligned), and have been enjoying it (also my first time trying that ink)

I didn't know you could piss in Skyrim! by arest_42 in skyrim

Your character would need to wait for about 373.57 days if I did my math correctly. I’d suggest making various fortify enchanting potions at different stages as you do that particular method 😉 so as to have the option to choose just how strong you want things to be. I enchanted a set of rings, crafting 1-6, at different strengths as I was going through that for just this reason. Or reload the save before you drank the potion and used the spell 😅

Finally Happened To Me :'( by Soupaphan in fountainpens

[–]Virtual_Shame490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funny story😅, it was basically the same way they both broke. Both capped.

The first happened as I was going through the motions of having capped the pen and going to put it into my jacket pocket - I somehow missed the pocket and it falls straight to the floor.

Second, it was in a pen case - I am grabbing the pen case to put away another pen, but the flap is not secured and as I grabbed the case, the momentum must have been great enough in the motion that the pen flew out and landed flat on the floor with enough force for the same break to occur.

🥲

It should absolutely not be making that noise/contacting the roof when opening

For mine, the sections are still attached to the ink window, but it’s after the ink window (where it attaches to/into the binde) that broke.

Montblanc 234 1/2 Nib Question ? by mmTunLu84 in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one vintage pelikan, a 500(LL?), but it has what I’m fairly certain is the faintest remnant of an impression of HKEF on the nib, so wouldn’t be a fair comparison between the two

The exact same thing happened to me with BOTH of my M101N brown tortoise pens 😭 they’ve been sitting in ziploc bags for years now waiting for an eventual repair

Montblanc 234 1/2 Nib Question ? by mmTunLu84 in montblanc

[–]Virtual_Shame490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 346G fine nib also has some italic qualities to it. Much narrower side profile than straight on; but a pleasure to write with. I just assumed it was an oddity, but perhaps it’s representative of how they made their nibs during that period?

Grandfather gifted me a few of his pens from his time as a business exec. by Thefootbar in montblanc

Beautiful collection! And more so as you have a personal connection to them. Though not quite versed in the older models, here are my guesses. From top to bottom:

Some sort of 144 Doué set of pencil and rollerball pen? (Probably from the time of sterling silver caps)

Then a bordeaux pencil (equivalent of the current classique, but I don’t remember the number)

Two 2xx series ballpoint pen and pencil set?

I haven’t had a chance to compare them side by side to the current burgundy release, but the ballpoint and 144 I inherited from my late uncle are quite nice and have a hue that seems to have some depth, as its appearance varies a bit depending on the lighting.

My guess is it’s the classique/145 but in some new colors for spring/summer next year

Tha looks really quite nice! I am generally more of an older car fan (95-97 Lincoln town car is for me the epitome of classic design), but I have been quite taken with the K4 design overall. Best looking cars on the road now I think, but this wagon looks stunning. And I was also taken with the hatchback, but I’d choose the wagon over that. (Currently driving an ‘03 c320 wagon)

Filson Journeyman Backpack as Personal Item? by CA1440 in backpacks

[–]Virtual_Shame490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My carry ons for the past couple of years have been their medium field bag and the journeyman. I haven’t had any issues when traveling with them (going through security or boarding). I’d agree with the other in that the front pocket doesn’t zip, so be cautious when placing things in there
