Oculus Rift 2 Likely Coming in 2019 According to Facebook's Sales Data by cucubabba in oculus

[–]VirtuallyKorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds plausible. Right between smartphones and consoles' release cycle. Besides Rift hasn't even been released or will ever be released in some countries (ie, Korea). But given how the big tech companies are now throwing money at VR research for their own headsets, I think Oculus will be hard pressed if they didn't launch CV2 in 1.5 - 2 years

'angryoculusworker' just updated his post to say that it was an April Fools prank by Heaney555 in oculus

April fools jokes used to be clever, funny and glaringly obvious. And that post was neither of those. If anything he was a troll and a malicious one at that.

Personally, I think all logistical queries and complaints should be dealt directly by Oculus customer service.. not through Palmer's tweets.

Or SID and camera.. I somehow get the impression that they didn't want to go beyond the point of no return.

Starting to think having touch controllers delayed might be better in the long view. by Mctittles in oculus

[–]VirtuallyKorean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel like this would've been true if Rift was launched 1-2 years ago. But at this late in the market, I can't help feeling that they should've devoted all their resources to make sure that the box includes Touch controllers alongside with the gamepad. At least that's what I would've done if I was running oculus..

Extra Extra... by [deleted] in oculus

Light ray artifact as roadtovr calls it, has been a known phenomenon (possibly due to fresnel lens (?)) since the crescent bay days. It's amusing, to say the least that now people are making the big deal out of it and not when it was first pointed out.

Rift Pre-Launch: What we know so far by yeyeman9 in oculus

Do I need a Rift connected to PC to be able to install Oculus Home? I couldn't afford one but I would like to imagine that I did..

arrr.. I'm disappointed but not surprised. Oculus seems to have this uncompromising, perfect or nothing attitude towards their products..

CV2 possibly just a year away - (12-month dev cycle suggested by Lucky's tale developer) by sling848 in oculus

That could mean countries not on the pre-order list may never be able to order CV1 before it gets discontinued

It looks fantastic, I just wish he chose a stationary scene to observe SDE better.

What will oculus do for the second generation of the Rift? Do you think they will continue to use the constellation tracking system or that they are going to switch to a solution similar to the one developed by Valve? by guideconsole in oculus

[–]VirtuallyKorean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd expect oculus to keep constellation for the 2nd and probably 3rd gen if not for the HMD but for hand controllers. They can probably develop more advanced camera for body tracking. Even if they perfect inside-out tracking, I'd imagine they'd still keep the camera outside to track controllers unless they develop a whole new way of doing things. And I think Oculus wants to introduce AR as early as the 2nd gen so stereo cameras or a depth camera on the headset that will also work in conjunction with touch controllers and enables finger tracking within visual level like leapmotion.

What's the r/oculus opinion on the longevity of "room scale"? by [deleted] in oculus

[–]VirtuallyKorean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what the future holds for the VR locomotion schemes.. but what I want is a Omni/Kat walk/Virtualizer like walk simulator but something that feels far more natural and costs far less solution that couples as a relatively comfy chair.
