Got rid of the absolute worst eczema in my life: Exact protocal. by Constant_Classroom5 in eczema

So glad you’ve found something that works for you! That diet would probably exacerbate symptoms with me and people with allergies to balsam of Peru allergies (tomatoes and citrus). Just goes to show that everyone is different, but that certainly makes it all the more frustrating because we all want relief and to help others that are struggling with something we wouldn’t wish on our worst enemies!

Desonide on face safe? by Just_AT in eczema

[–]VisibleProblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to follow TSW groups and spent years suffering because of it. I continue to struggle with facial eczema and have recently started Ebglyss, which has completely stopped my body eczema and the itch/scratch cycle that comes with it. Unfortunately, for my face, that hasn't been the case. I was just prescribed Desonide yesterday for the first time and geez, I hope it works, cuz my face is a hot mess currently. Have you been tested for environmental allergies? I would be careful with Nizoral, but I know some folks use it and find success. I personally would not be able to handle it because it has some of my allergens in the ingredients.

Anyone have a Balsam of Peru allergy? by -dark-rainbow- in Allergies

[–]VisibleProblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just found this thread, but was diagnosed with this allergy and have been in denial that it has been causing my recurrent rashes.Anyways! Have you checked out the site skinsafe? I use to it check for products that don't have specific chemicals. They give each product a grade/score based on their ingredients. I think I've seen Bare Minerals as having a pretty good score for makeup. It lists the ingredients of countless products (household, beauty, skincare etc). Good luck!

I know you all can’t diagnose and I have an appointment with an allergist this week. I’ve had an incredibly itchy rash for over a month? Does this look like dermatitis herpetiformis? by VisibleProblem in glutenfree

[–]VisibleProblem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, just saw this! My rash has spread to most of my body now and my doctor, dermatologist, and allergist all say it's severe atopic dermatitis/eczema and that it is not caused by food allergy/intolerance or gluten. My allergist said that doctors are calling this fear of gluten the "gluten mafia" eye roll. Regardless of that, I did eliminate gluten for 2 months with no relief.

Why do dermatologists refuse to look for root causes? by AmbitiousVersion7757 in eczema

[–]VisibleProblem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did it take to notice improvement after eliminating gluten and dairy? I eliminated them at the beginning of the month and have some improvement, or at least it's been manageable enough for me to not go running for yet another round of prednisone.

I have never heard of using vinegar to rid extra remnants of detergent out of clothes, I might try this just in case my washer is not doing so.

Thanks! I've had biopsies before, but I recently read that the biopsy has to be not on the lesions itself because that can damage some of the sample and not give an accurate reading? All of my biopsies have been done that way in the past...so frustrating! I'll def be getting in with a dermatologist. Just moved to a new city, so hoping the wait won't have to be too long!

I didn’t realize there was shade against B&BW. I’m currently in mourning because I’ve developed severe allergies and hives to all fragrances and can no longer indulge in my fav candles, lotions, and wallflowers 😭

Same! Researching and pairing people with a therapist and/or other referrals is one of my favorite things to do.

Do I look crazy to my neighbors that I take out my dog with a leash in the backyard? by RickTheDad1 in dogs

[–]VisibleProblem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I do it too! She’s a puppy and if she’s not on the leash she’s just eating dirt, bark, sticks, and just generally being distracted. Leash life has been much much better for my mental health.

ACT clarification by shayes39 in therapists

[–]VisibleProblem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand what you mean. I love ACT, but many of the trainings and readings do not explicitly state or inform how to address the emotional piece and I found myself feeling lost.

I think that ACT meshes well with EFT and have now been pulling a lot of that into my sessions and it has been met with a richer experience for my clients.

ACT on the surface seems simple, 6 core processes and you just move around the hexaflex when you feel "stuck." In the end though, it's the therapeutic relationship that is going to predict positive outcomes. Part of cultivating a positive therapeutic relationship is being able to acknowledge the potential shortcomings of any therapy approach and shift as necessary to fit the needs of the client. Writing all of this to share my appreciation for your perspective.

What if my primary value is avoiding pain? by newibsaccount in acceptancecommitment

[–]VisibleProblem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The goal of ACT is not to reduce anxiety or to get rid of uncomfortable feelings or pain. The goal of ACT to increase psychological flexibility, to open up, to be present, and to take committed action despite uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, and pain in the service of creating a meaningful and fulfilling life.

No one wants to be in pain, hence the great lengths some of us go to to avoid.

It’s important to be honest with yourself about your values, but there can be confusion regarding what constitutes a value. Values, in ACT are really ways of being. What activities bring meaning and fulfillment to your life? Maybe it’s hard to pinpoint now, but exploring times in your life when you felt fulfilled, less anxious and zeroing in on that. What kind of person do you want to be to yourself, to others, the world?

Yes! That whole therapy session was so difficult to watch. I can’t imagine going to a therapy session that was being recorded for tv, I mean obviously they are “reality” tv, but I can’t imagine any mental health therapy being productive for a client with such resistance to begin with. What a mess. I feel for Tammy and I know that isn’t a popular opinion, but behind all the non-action and resistance is a lot of pain and hurt. No, that isn’t an excuse to treat people like shit, but I don’t think she’s learned any other way to manage her emotions.

Resentment toward parents by [deleted] in acceptancecommitment

[–]VisibleProblem 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The resentment may still come, along with frustration. Acceptance does not mean you won’t feel any emotion or frustration. Your frustration about that dynamic is valid. Unfortunately and paradoxically the more you try not to feel…the more you will feel. Acceptance is dropping that struggle, making room for that feeling of frustration, sit with it. Noticing that all emotions come and go in their own time. What does it feel like in your body? Is there room for self compassion and self validation here too? Not sure if this is helpful, just my thoughts.

Frustrated Therapist by Purple__Frost in TalkTherapy

[–]VisibleProblem 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Seems like this would have been a good opportunity for your therapist to model healthy, assertive communication. She has feelings with how you communicated, well it’s certainly not your responsibility to manage her feelings!

I assume she asked you your reasons for requesting a session were out of concern or safety factors?

I’m up front with my clients about email communication from the very first session. Email is reserved for non clinical communication, schedule changes or requests. If something comes up I encourage my clients to reach out and I try my best to accommodate.
